This was my sophomore dorm at the University of Maryland. It is currently the second newest dorm on campus, completed in fall 2011. The current newest dorm is Prince Frederick Hall, which was completed in fall 2014. They have Otis Gen2s with MAD fixtures. Oakland Hall was my #1 choice for my sophomore year, am I am lucky that I received my preference. The rooms are 2-3 times larger than the rooms in other traditional-style north campus dorms, and the building is much nicer than any of them. While UMD has a few Kones on compus, Oakland Hall is also the only dorm with Kones. This also influenced my decision on choosing this dorm. I am proud of the fact that I live in a facility with Kone EcoDiscs. These elevators are very nice and modern. They run very smoothly and quietly, however, car 2 makes a little louder noise during operation. These are also much more reliable than the elevators in my Freshman dorm, Ellicott Hall. It is also nice how there are 4 units, instead of the typical 3 units in other high-rise dorms around campus. Like most dorms at UMD, these elevators are carded inside and outside (on the ground and 1st floors). However, the ground and 1st floors are not locked, so these are ridable if you are able to get into the building and onto and elevator, which I do not encourage if you are not a student at the university. Car 1 serves PH, which residents do not have access to. I think PH is a facilities floor with that kind of stuff and access to the roof.

Those are some nice looking Kone's, I'm attending Appalachian State University this Fall. I will be planning to get everything that they have, I'm not sure what they'll have but I'll find out and be sure to put it up. But great content as always!
