I'd rather they didn't go down that path and keep her as she is, someone like marr, a sith who if given the opportunity is open minded enough to actually change the empire for the better while also adhering to the sith ideology but due to the very nature of the sith and war she can't do that.
@UCbVrOO6dGsFg5NQTexZ61_Q i stopped at the start when i realized you don't get the sith, its clear in this game that thats not point of the sith, only domination is true goal, whether that domination is through tyranny or being good is up to the sith, just like how its up to the jedi on will they be good or bad, jedi are worse than sith in many aspects and they aren't goodie two shoes, in fact one of reasons sith and jedi hate each other is becuse jedi commited literal holocaust on the sith species, speak of the cruelity and killing innocents huh also its jedi who abolish things like love and actual care by not having emotions (which result in cases like satele that can't help it then have a kid and then don't bother raising him) for sith its about having emotions and being passionate, in swtor you can see many different siths and these two things they imply differently while one will hate everything and force choke someone for looking them into eyes some will genuinely love others, the sith in game often have families and don't shun it unlike the jedi, and when it comes to passion love can be fuel for it as much as hate this isn't just my interpretation the game takes this course as well in swtor post nathema DLC Empire (if you choose their side) is very very different than vitiates one, it transforms into something better becuse they finally realize that infighting only helps the republic, of course theres still infighting and there always might be but there are smart siths who realize that its choking them from inside and that shunning non force users and non humans isn't the best approach so empire starts slowly opening up, marr and lana were just first of these "new" siths.
Individualism, selfishness, personal freedom at all costs (even at your expense), cunning, dominating the weak, cruelly punishing failure, replacing leadership when you are clearly stronger or more cunning, and betrayal, is the way of the Sith. Otherwise, what`s the point!? To say otherwise, is to go against the doctrine and the very purpose of why the Sith Order exist. They are not trying to be a dark mirror of the Jedi Order, nor is Lana. Can`t say the same for Marr. Everyone is supposed to be in it for themselves, while also trying to somehow destroy the Jedi order at the same time. Not wanting the Sith to betray when it is in their best interest, is like not wanting the Jedi to protect the innocent. However, I doubt that Lana would betray just for the hell of it. She would do so if she thought she could do a better job or if you F up majority. She`s a Sith, not a Dark Jedi.
Man, imagine that bro. Our character would go on full Darth Vader with that kind of betrayal especially when you proposed to her, seeing your fiancee betraying oof my God and especially on a Sith character? Well shit, the Galaxy will burn.
6:50 I always loved how Darth Marr reacts to information that Revan is alive and have his agents in his ranks. He doeas not sound suprised at all, just tired and annoyed 😂😂
Star Wars Central: Lana was trained by overseer Harkon. My mind: Harkon: Bring me the Tuluks Hoards helmet. Or that tomb will become your own grave blondie. Lana: Call me blondie one more time I dare you!
Thank you for amplifying my knowledge about my fav romance companion. I like Lana for her pragmatism, she is what every Force user should be. You can serve the light or the dark if you want, but not blindly walk the path that you have chosen because you believe the moral compass of it is undisputed. Lana sees the advantages of being light hearted in some aspects of war and the Force. Another point in her favor is that regardless of your choices, she follows you 'till the end of the line and that is what made her my #1 romance companion. Spectacular video as always Sam, hope you do more videos about companions in the future. May the Force be with you pal! :D
So probably Filoni played SWTOR and romanced Lana so he decided it would be a great idea to put her in the Ahsoka series under a different name (Shin Hati)
I mean you know she is the devs favorite when she has no kill or dismiss option. And was given a scene where she can decapitate 2 dark council members!
I believe that Lana Benito was an important part of the alliance just as Theron Sean was they were both vital to keep the alliance together and then my honest opinion it’s disappointing that Darth Marr was killed. He would’ve made a good companion if he was still alive, but even as a forced ghost alongside grandmaster situation, they would give the player very good advice on how to defeat, and bring down the eternal empire.
Lana is my absolute favorite Star Wars character. I write fanfic, and she's more the main character than the Outlander. And yeah, after Theron during the stupid Nathema arc, I'm expecting Bioware to give Lana a traitor arc, and the option to dismiss her. And I hate it (I hated Theron's possible death)
You can't have a stable superpower/society that consists almost entirely of chaotic evil characters that are only loyal to themselves. That simply makes no sense. People like Lana make it actually plausible and believable.
Definitely the best character in the game, I find it pretty hard not to romance her on characters with committed relationships😅. My JK trusts her with her life, even though Lana got a certain somebody got kidnapped 5 years ago, but Theron should really let that go....
She makes a great pairing with a Sith player character. Especially to the more brawny warrior, with her brains. Nul is likely not related to Lana, and I don't think she is getting replaced. Too much fan favourite.
I don't think Lana could every betray the Alliance Commander unless there is a damned good reason. If you romance her on pub side, on Yavin she will tell you she follows two passions: the Empire and you, in that order. The faction she serves will always be put above anything else. In lieu of the events of Kotfe/Kotet, she breaks away from the Empire again to eliminate a galaxy wide threat and finds her place in the Alliance more worthwhile. So, her loyalty to a faction and passion for the pc merge into one. Lana would have to change fundamentally for a traitor arc to ever happen, or find a good enough reason to leave the Alliance which is really just the PC. Even non-romanced Lana wouldn't make much sense. She's too lawful of a character
Also that what Lana said on Yavin IV was before Zakuul attacked the known galaxy. After the Nathema Incident Lana also said to the Player that no matter what side the player chooses Lana will follow them.
Throughout my entire first play through I genuinely thought she was always going to be the one to betray us. I even thought she was the one who sabotaged the throne on Iokath.
the best video explaining the best character in the best star wars video game with the best content creator and the best voice human race ever produced
Theron and Lana was the best duo in all of SWTOR. Both of them were extremely skilled and has respect for each other. I had only wished that lorewise they had sort of made Lana more powerful because she was exceptionally cunning. She could have even been more powerful than Darth Marr
Then what would be the point of the player character? The player is already playing a side character to all of Bioware's original creations after the class stories. The player character is basically Vaan from FF12. Some random nobody's perspective that the player can view the stories of the actual main cast.
You'd really think the Sith as a whole would take notice that all the Sith who are open-minded and consider practical, constructive mindsets above blind hate and greed almost UNIVERSALLY rise to unparalleled power and prestige.
I just don't see how she could be Darth Nul, unless there was some major falling out between Nul and Vitiate at some point. The architect of the Children of the Emperor becoming so dead set on thwarting him at every turn would be a a major reversal. I mean Lana, perhaps more than anyone, has been on a personal crusade to end the various incarnations of Tenebrae for years. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a connection, but I have my doubts about a betrayal at this late stage.
I think Darth Nul was already dead at this point and then scrubbed from the Empire records. Something did happen between her and the Emperor, which is why she was scrubbed from the records, its just not specified what exactly. Darth Nul had also trained the other sons and daughters of the Emperor, which had been decades in planning, maybe more than a few actually if you think about how a head council member of the Jedi was a 'Son', so she'd be even older, as the architect of the 'Children of the Emperor' and the 'handler' of the 'children'. Lana wasn't even born at that point, she could have been a child, but not 'the Mother' of the 'Emperors Children'. While I can assume her grudge against the Emperor came from his betrayal over the Sith, the fact he killed Marr, Lanas master and teacher, and a few more reasons most likely. So I assume Darth Nul died around the time Kira escaped DK and a few years before Kira was found the be a Jedi. That timing adds up, considering many Sith new of her at the time even though her info was scrubbed, and she became a myth around that era.
Yeah, my theory is Darth Null went into stasis due to some falling out with the Sith Emperor in the past. When she came out of it, she maybe took on the name Lana Beniko and joined the Sith Academy, getting a fresh start in some clone body. Either that or Null possessed her. Her goal seems to be working in the shadows for her own advancement and power base with the player. It might be to start experimenting again without worry of interference from the Empire or the Jedi.
My theory is Lana is Darth Nul's descendent, and was born from careful force manipulation/ genetic selection. Lana's heritage and family may start pressuring her to live up to her ancestors goals by betraying the outlander/ taking over the alliance
When my Jedi told Valkorian that Marr was better than him she meant it. Marr would've made a good leader for the Empire. Lana is a lot like Marr. She's pragmatic and open-minded but also dangerous. You can even warn Kovach on Ziost that though Lana may seem like the nicest Sith alive that if she finds out he's SIS she will not hesitate to kill him, or worse. Lana later tells Ghost Dural that she's learned more about the force from the PC by working with them than she ever would by betraying them. By this statement alone making her betray the PC would be out of character. I really hope they don't make her into another run of the mill bloodthirsty Sith by betraying the PC for power. In my opinion that's the only reason the Empire continues to lose to the Republic. They are too busy in-fighting and betraying each other.
*Wish* this game *was* a single player, or at least *would* get a single player remaster for modern systems - including the Switch. That said, this character looks great.

Thanks a lot for enlightening my knowledge on my oc's soon to be wife. Thanks a lot man!
I always am curious if the Ancient Sith and the modern Sith were not true Siths but merely Sith Heretics. In Mandalorian, we learn about the Children of the Watch and how they kept to the true original culture of the Mandalorians (This is the Way). I think the Sith Code was created not to pursue power for power's sake but to pursue power to have the freedom to explore the Force and to survive in a Galaxy filled with conflict. An example would be how the Sith Ideology was explained by Lana Beniko in the Old Republic games. Lana's Statement about the Sith Code: th-cam.com/video/ejHBXz4K3Mo/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=StrangeGaming
Interesting theory, but very unlikely. Plus the Children of the watch. Were Mandalorin heretics. Plus we already got Sith Heretics in the EU. Darth Kyrant and the one Sith.
Maybe try doing companion backstoryes ? ^^ They are interesting characters, close to players hearts. Also they have sourprising amount of lore, popping up in other class stories etc. I think it would be really fun :) Also nice vid Sam :>

I try to include those within the Explained videos so I feel like they're the same thing perhaps? :P)
Interesting speculation at the end. Though I must say with the creative deadend of the SWTOR storyline, I feel it is less likely we may even have such a thing...
@@Perkele_foxtrot_oscar_bravo There are just too many people in the storyline yet with so little updates few and far between, storywise maybe fine. But to pull such a twist i find it highly unlikely, they need some sorta stability. Lana has been flatlining for awhile anw.
I have a personal head canon that Lana Beniko is the anscestor to Kenobi. I know many people will likely disagree with that, but I see too many similarities in their personalities and how "Beniko" is an anagram of "Kenobi"
It wouldn't be the first time the Devs have done something like this. If you keep a close eye on NPC names, crew skill mission text and other random bits, you're likely to see a few things that oddly look like references or anagrams. It's neat! Best example is "Hun Duo" who you can find in the cantina in Hutta, sitting across from a Rodian.
I haven't been around SWTOR for a couple years now and I really never was a "Lana Fanatic" but.. during the Zakuul time I did say "Nobody should be surprised when/if Lana walks away one day saying "She must follow her true self" Lana has a history of walking away from her boss's. Not saying she's bad, just saying that is the History of this character (especially for the LS/Repub players).
she doesn't really have a history of walking away from her boss, arkous was one to betray her and entire empire by being a revanite he even tries to turn her into one and then during five years in DLC's we don't really know did she walk away from the sith from what i understand she was fighting zakuul and zakuul kept republic and the empire occupied and when she forms you alliance empire openly supports it, she only goes traitor if you return to republic as repub player or are traitor yourself and turn on the empire for the republic but she never stopped being imperial.

Her being Darth Null doesn't add up. She is simply too young to be her. Darth Null created Children of the Emperor. Beings we've encountered in Jedi Knight's and Consular's stories. She was instructed by Overseer Harkun who wasn't that old himself and certainly younger than Syo Bakarm Jedi Master on the Jedi Council and First Son of the Emperor, pushing his middle age. She would either have to be roughly the same age as Darth Marr or like Darth Zash, experimenting on extending her life and thus maintaining her youthful appearance across the years and even forging her a new identity, and re-entering Sith ranks from scratch as Lana Beniko.

One thing that confuses me about Lana is that she is not really a darksider, yet has Sith eyes. Sith eyes are a manifestation of hate, rage, malice, and self-centered ambition, traits Lana doesn't really embody.
I think if her back was against the wall, she would choose the Sith code and embrace anger to fuel her power. She is just very open minded otherwise. But in the end, she wields red, she used dark side powers and doesn’t question you if you want to return to the empire. She’s a Sith, just not your average Sith.
@@SWCentral I disagree. Following the Sith code would inevitably mean being absolutely self-centered and power-hungry and having eternal conflict, war, domination, and slavery as the goal which is not really compatible with Lana's personality. As I understand her, she actually wants peace and a good life for everybody, which is diametrically opposed to Sith philosophy. Same with Darth Marr. Before his death, it becomes clear that he rejected Sith teachings and even becomes a force ghost which is only possible for lightsiders. I think the game makes it relatively clear that neither Lana not Marr are true darksiders even though they occasionally use dark side abilities. I just think it is odd that some light-leaning Sith like Lana have Sith eyes while Dark council members such as Ravage, Zhorrid and Hadra, who should be near-perfect embodiments of the dark side have not.
I love Lana but man I just wish that she didn’t suck in gameplay. Lightsaber companions are just so much worse than the dual wielding blaster companions.
I want to watch and enjoy this video about one of the best characters in the game, but the horrible and repeated mispronunciation of English language words that have well known, correct pronunciations is just too distracting for me. 😒

I'd rather they didn't go down that path and keep her as she is, someone like marr, a sith who if given the opportunity is open minded enough to actually change the empire for the better while also adhering to the sith ideology but due to the very nature of the sith and war she can't do that.
@charles townsend Agreed.
what you define as interesting i define as heart breaking i'd cry if i had to kill her man
@UCbVrOO6dGsFg5NQTexZ61_Q i stopped at the start when i realized you don't get the sith, its clear in this game that thats not point of the sith, only domination is true goal, whether that domination is through tyranny or being good is up to the sith, just like how its up to the jedi on will they be good or bad, jedi are worse than sith in many aspects and they aren't goodie two shoes, in fact one of reasons sith and jedi hate each other is becuse jedi commited literal holocaust on the sith species, speak of the cruelity and killing innocents huh also its jedi who abolish things like love and actual care by not having emotions (which result in cases like satele that can't help it then have a kid and then don't bother raising him) for sith its about having emotions and being passionate, in swtor you can see many different siths and these two things they imply differently while one will hate everything and force choke someone for looking them into eyes some will genuinely love others, the sith in game often have families and don't shun it unlike the jedi, and when it comes to passion love can be fuel for it as much as hate this isn't just my interpretation the game takes this course as well in swtor post nathema DLC Empire (if you choose their side) is very very different than vitiates one, it transforms into something better becuse they finally realize that infighting only helps the republic, of course theres still infighting and there always might be but there are smart siths who realize that its choking them from inside and that shunning non force users and non humans isn't the best approach so empire starts slowly opening up, marr and lana were just first of these "new" siths.
I do like Lana. She’s one of the most interesting Sith in the game, and honestly, pretty fascinating.
Star Wars Central: Lana was trained by overseer Harkon.
My mind:
Harkon: Bring me the Tuluks Hoards helmet. Or that tomb will become your own grave blondie.
Lana: Call me blondie one more time I dare you!

Lana is one of the best written characters in the entire game. Plus the best romance in the game. Lana Best girl ;)
I'm thinking the same thing
If Ashoka S2 comes out. Let this be true
One of my favorite companions! I've got a soft spot for Lana since she's my mains waifu. I also just enjoy her personality as a non psychotic sith.
Lana Beniko is the Sith Lord we’ve all been looking for
Ironically, she renounced Sith philosophy.
I mean you know she is the devs favorite when she has no kill or dismiss option. And was given a scene where she can decapitate 2 dark council members!
Lydia Leonard's voice acting is delightful.
I would've loved to have had Darth Marr as a companion, even if as a force ghost.
If she betrays you, that will be the most blatant butchering of a character in fictional history
Lana is the perfect example of the sith done right and prove you can be one without being pure evil.
You can't have a stable superpower/society that consists almost entirely of chaotic evil characters that are only loyal to themselves. That simply makes no sense. People like Lana make it actually plausible and believable.
Best comments in this video
I've always liked Lana. She's not evil she's practicle
Definitely the best character in the game, I find it pretty hard not to romance her on characters with committed relationships😅. My JK trusts her with her life, even though Lana got a certain somebody got kidnapped 5 years ago, but Theron should really let that go....
Lana is the best wing girl , they better not make her another hurr durr I betray you character.
I like her sense of loyalty to the pc
She is definitely one of my favorites. Also like Kira Carson...
Lana is great, one of the best aspects of previous expansions.
I even thought she was the one who sabotaged the throne on Iokath.
funnly enough its opposite for me she was only one i actually trusted, i was at least slightly paranoid of all others and it paid off.
the best video explaining the best character in the best star wars video game with the best content creator and the best voice human race ever produced
The best comment ever on TH-cam that even surpasses the awe and astonishment of the creation of the wheel.
Agreed
Theron and Lana was the best duo in all of SWTOR. Both of them were extremely skilled and has respect for each other.
I had only wished that lorewise they had sort of made Lana more powerful because she was exceptionally cunning. She could have even been more powerful than Darth Marr
Couldn't agree more! I think we have yet to see the most interesting thing from Lana... I think she hides something.
@@SWCentral that would be interesting.she definitley deserves to be brought further into the spotlight of the outlander story
Lana: “We fight together, we die together”
Theron: “Now you’re talking..”
Lana & Theron are siblings separated at birth
*Change my mind*
We will soon see... Maybe if the devs get to work xD
I could think that the Beniko family could have a connection to Darth Nul but I don't think that Lana will be betraying the Alliance Commander.
Lana is best girl in the whole history of the franchise.
That's always been one of the biggest things that causes the Sith to lose, the in-fighting and betrayals.

Lana is in the top 3 romances of swtor.
Maybe try doing companion backstoryes ? ^^ They are interesting characters, close to players hearts. Also they have sourprising amount of lore, popping up in other class stories etc. I think it would be really fun :) Also nice vid Sam :>
Defo going to be covering a few more companions :) Theron Shan is on the list, however right now i'm unsure exactly which is next as we're doing a Halloween project this month too!

Interesting speculation at the end. Though I must say with the creative deadend of the SWTOR storyline, I feel it is less likely we may even have such a thing...
How is it a creative dead end? Been playing since beta. It’s actually better story wise now than it was.

Gotta point...
she doesn't really have a history of walking away from her boss, arkous was one to betray her and entire empire by being a revanite he even tries to turn her into one and then during five years in DLC's we don't really know did she walk away from the sith from what i understand she was fighting zakuul and zakuul kept republic and the empire occupied and when she forms you alliance empire openly supports it, she only goes traitor if you return to republic as repub player or are traitor yourself and turn on the empire for the republic but she never stopped being imperial.
@@ericpaunovic3579 Lana "Left the Sith and Empire" (quit) to search for the outlander (she was *Not on friendly terms with the Zakuul era Imp/Sith). Again, she Left, Walked away, Found a Bigger boss. Everything her character has done in her backstory. Have a good day.
@@mikecobalt7005 which bigger boss exactly? my bounty hunter frozen in carbonite and left with nothing for half a decade? and how do you know she wasn't in good terms with zakuul era sith? she left to search for outlander why exactly? becuse her empire was occupied the very reason she walked away is becuse she wanted to fight zakuul for what it did to empire and what its doing to the galaxy and calculated that player is best shot empire has which was true and then when its time to pick a side she makes it clear it should be empire also when your fleet is obliterated and your alliance basically falls she still stays with you if this was about power for her and if she wanted a bigger boss then she'd leave you after nathema becuse your alliance is practically dead then and there.
@@ericpaunovic3579 "Lana Said"... You (outlander) were the best person she knew of to defeat Arcann and Zakuul (That means stronger btw) Considering what she watched in how you dealt with Marr, Bastilla, Revan, Vizla and other A List names, you controlled them all. Lana was "Trading Up"; she built the Odessan base Before it was needed (planning ahead). The Empire and Republic were frozen while the Outlander and that band of volunteers would still be able to combat Zakuul (and win). Lana has always acted alone, picked a top level boss, and had a fondness when she finds a stronger one (Iven before her old one is dead. Much of this is explained in the dialog of SOR and Zakuul arcs plus Lana Wiki. I'd rather Not bring SWTOR forums into TH-cam especially in somebody else's product (Not ours to muddy up with conjecture) :) Have a good day.
I like her and she’s my Jedi character’s love interest and wish old republic make comic Lana and Outlander

Betrayal IS the way of the Sith, but is she truly a Sith Lady anymore?
