I was talking to my friend, who shoots video for a living, about this. He owns the C200 and said it really is not a good camera for live-streaming. He said the Blackmagic ones are probably some of the better options out there.
If a church needs a high quality image but also needs PTZ functionality, there are higher end PTZ cameras. For instance, the Panasonic AW-UE150 features a 1" image sensor and lots of high end features (fiber output, 4k @ 60fps, etc) but it also comes at a premium price. It's always about the budget and application. The Canon C200 doesn't compete with the PTZ Optics (completely different price ranges) but us more in line with the Panasonic mentioned above.
We use the telycam 4k ptz and it's amazing picture quality. Looking to add 3 more for all the angles. Best part is with presets we only need one person running all the cameras!
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I somehow forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Edward Luca i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Bro! I think you should definitely try out the new Panasonic Lumix S5. Since you're already fine with the Panasonic DFD autofocus, I'm sure you'll love the S5! Would love to see you use one in the future!
Great video but I wonder why you didnt include any ENG style cameras that have power zoom lenses with lanc control sdi outputs they are made for live broadcasting
Great video. I personally am a fan of prosumer camcorders with hand controls. Cinema cameras for work that will have post processing and thought out shots.
We use the Panasonic HC-VXF1 for our livestream, its around $600 and does 4K (but we broadcast 1080p30). Great zoom and autofocus. The sensor is 1/2.5” I think. Surprised the vixia is the only video camera in this comparison (besides the ptz and cinema cameras) Also, did you forget to compare zoom?
We currently use a mk.1 Canon c100 as our "A cam." It is a fantastic entry level cinema camera with dedicated controls and it's not far off the quality and features of the c200. Especially if you are using it for a live stream. Excellent condition used ones can actually be picked up for just over $1,000. I really love these comparisons and it would be awesome to see you throw some APS-C and full frame mirrorless cameras in there too. I know you are mainly just working with what you have, but the stuff coming from Sony and Canon right now looks pretty amazing. It would be interesting to see how they stack up against the Panasonic and Blackmagic cameras.
@@YengshaiXiong I'm torn between a NX100 and a A6400 w/ 18-200 power zoom lens in a cage. Apsc + 4K vs 1 inch + 1080p for the same price. My budget for another camera is around $1-1.5k and being a photographer sensor size means a lot to me.
Too Shmart I think you already know what the answer is ;)...but adding to that, I am currently using two A6000s with the 55-210mm lenses and I think our setup is ideal atm. I would’ve gotten the A6400 if our budget allowed.
I think you may have been a bit unfair in your assessment of the PTZOptics camera. Our church uses two 30x-SDI cameras running SDI cable to our tech booth then converted to HDMI for our ATEM Mini Pro and at 1080p 30fps, we are producing what I would consider a near TV broadcast quality production.
I personally have never met a PTZ camera that performed very well in low light or had decent depth of field, but to be fair broadcast tv doesn't have much depth of field either.
Hey man! Quick question for you….. GH5 or the Sony a6400? Looking at upgrading our church’s main cam. Our main Cam Will primarily be on a tri pod. Would really appreciate a response! Thanks and God bless

It has been my experience when using SLR's to shoot video. Thanks for another awesome video! I have learned a lot from you guys as our church was "pushed" into recording/streaming content during the pandemic.
I am so happy with this video. I was about getting the ptz. After seeing this video I am getting the GH5. I intend buy pre owned on eBay. Which specifics will I be looking out for when buying?
What kind of distance are you setting up these cameras? The church sanctuary I work for has a 100ft throw from the production balcony to the platform. We've been using seriously old Panasonic P2HDs for a few years. Their age is starting to show 5 years ago. Lol
Hey Jake, or anyone else for that matter. Glad you mentioned the GH4, however, is it possible to livestream with the GH4? I've found it really hard to figure out how to get the GH4 to livestream and the fact that you mention it here for livestreaming makes me wonder if I've missed something. Thanks!
Canon camcorders actually can function as a PTZ for just a couple hundred dollars more simply by adding the Bescor pan tilt and using the Canon ir remote.
You mentioned that you have to apply a LUT to the Blackmagic footage. Is that the case for the Pocket 4K as well? If that is true, does that mean it wouldn't look good if you live-streamed directly from the camera to an image capture device and then onto OBS because you weren't adding the LUT to it? Thanks.
Still waiting for Canon M50 II. I bet it would have all the conveniences of the M50 with clean HDMI like M200. Will be such a versatile camera for cheap.
Hey @churchfront do you have any suggestions where to find a good LUT to use on a pocket 4k? We just received ours and are looking to make it look good. Its a little flat atm.

Sort of new to this but how do you apply a lut to a live stream? and....if you are only streaming to facebook will you see a visual difference if they downgrade the quality to 720?
To the second half of your question: absolutely! Look at production-quality TV shows from back in the days of Standard Definition (480i), and they honestly didn't look that bad. Look homemade movies from "cheap" camcorders at the same resolution, and the video from those looks awful.
You can get a entry level DSLR like SonyA6000 or a Lumix G7 for about $5-600 with one lens used on Ebay. This wil get you far better quality than the PTZ or the Vixia.
It's probably not a fair comparison to show one of the cheapest camcorders against the cinema cameras. I would have liked to see a mid-range and high-end camcorder as they are much better than those $200 budget handycams. Any chance you can do an update to include a couple 4K camcorders with 1" sensors? Eg. Panasonic HC-X1 or Canon XA55
Will the GH5 and lens combo you have there do a good job zooming from the back of a sanctuary? The distance from our AV booth to the pulpit is about 200ft.
@@martysasser2666 if cost is an issue, the 100-300mm (200-600mm 35mm equiv) or, if you have the money, the 100-400mm (200-800mm 35mm equiv), but it's going to cost you $1800. The thing about those ptz cameras is, that you have to buy a rather expensive controller, too. We bought two of those PTZOptics 20x cameras and it is really difficult to bring some motion into the picture. The controller apps are a real pain...believe me. So you can get a professional controller. But then you spend another 800 bucks (or more).
@@jowilliebear So you mean there is control software that is capable to control these cameras really smoothly? 1080p and 720p work just fine. And, they are less expensive. Just get a Panasonic camcorder, go into the setting and set up clean output, and plug the church audio into the mic jack. No need to spend thousands of dollars.
I run the little r800 all afternoon without it overheating (and we were in the high 20s celcius/ 80s farenheit last weekend!) It's a little trooper but the review here is fair for it's limitations
From what I've read and researched, it's not so much an issue anymore with any of the 'modern' cameras (I don't have a definition for 'modern' but from what I gathered, last 10 years or so). If you're going to be recording, not just streaming, you will need to use Magic Lantern or something similar to bypass the ~30min recording limit.
Hey Jake great video thank you. I have been using my GH5 with OBS .tbe problemi am have is that the stream is choppy and not smooth. We are stream in 1080p and not 4k but it still not smooth. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks JF
Sounds like your computer is unable to handle writing the stream. Check your settings, and your processor/GPU usage. If the settings are low and it’s tapping it out, you need a better computer (or just a separate encoder).
Anyone have experience with the HuddleCamHD SimplTrack2 Auto Tracking camera? We need a follow camera but don’t yet have volunteers to operate a follow cam.
I dont know that churches need to pay the cost for cinema level cameras. You can just buy a $90.00 logitech web cam and run the church audio through the computer that the web cam is connected to. Done.
Yes. I do understand that cinema camera is not a must as even lower end video camera will get the job done. But I am wondering if I were to go the cinema cam route, which would be better.
A cinema camera for church is not needed, at all. Get a Panasonic v770. Set it on auto, and enjoy life more. If you're making movies to be seen on the big screen, and know how to utilize all the buttons and lenses, that's where you start to think about which cinema camera to get. You have fo remember, in buying things for church you are using the money of other people, and not all thos people are going to want to use that money to buy expensive video equipment, especially when a lot of the time it takes a trained eye to pick out, or even care about, the difference in the picture between a professional cinema camera and a prosumer/consumer camcorder.
Thanks for this I have been processing this question, so this was timely. Would love to see how the higher end PTZ 4K Cameras stack up against Mirrorless vs Cinema etc... like the: Panasonic AW-UE150👍 * 4K 60fps * SDI / HDMI / * RTMPS Directly to Internet As it has better better lens & sensor, as apposed to the Full HD PTZ cameras models. I’m conscious people always say when you scale down to HD from a 4K sensor the images is always sharper, cleaner etc.. Thanks again!!!
The Panasonic AW-UE150 is made to match the quality of the Panasonic broadcast cameras. It's probably the best PTZ camera on the market. You may want to try to contact some of the tech team at Long Hollow Baptist in Hendersonville, TN. Here is a video of how they use that camera for remote campus broadcast. th-cam.com/video/cgFdMUTpEkI/w-d-xo.html
I kinda wish you had a Sony A7SIII for comparison as well since it's full frame, but I could imagine you're not in a hurry to get one of those with all the gear you already have. That, and I'm not sure if the A7SIII is actually shipping yet. Anyways, thank you for the video. I've wanted to see what PTZ Optics video looks like in comparison to a micro 4/3 mirrorless, and the difference is pretty substantial.
@@Churchfront where would you rate the Sony a6400 as compared to the GH5 (in the church Livestream context)? The Sony has a larger sensor, though the Panasonic apparently has a better viewfinder and screen. I wonder if those are quite so necessary in this context, especially if you've pulled video out via HDMI and can see it on a monitor. Also, I know you mentioned that you wouldn't recommend autofocus, but Sony makes a big deal about theirs, and they do have object-tracking, so maybe at the beginning, you set it to track the pastor and it might keep in focus through the service.
I think there's some misleading information here. I checked the PTZ Optics camera resolution and it is full HD. If I am using it for image magnification on an HD projector or to stream HD video, it seems I'd get no benefit from using a camera with higher resolution like the GH5 (4K) as that would be down-sampled for an HD stream. Were you using a 4K monitor and therefore able to show the HD camera as producing an inferior picture to a 4K camera? If so, that isn't too helpful as I don't think anyone (or very few at best) is streaming 4K. Perhaps I misunderstand, but it seems the PTZ Optics camera should give just as fine an HD stream as the GH5 would. If not, I'd like to understand what I'm missing.
You're missing the difference in sensor size and type. Just because the PTZ optics camera can shoot the same resolution doesn't mean it will perform as good in low light or have better color science. As I said in the video, a smaller sensor like what the ptz camera has will result in lower quality image when compared to a larger micro four thirds sensor like on the GH5.
I'm one person who is convinced that low level cheap ENG cameras can do better church streaming than all the shown cameras above, the canon 200 is something you don't need for this kind of work, the Bmcc cameras the advantage is only when you have a BM switcher, In my years of doing live concerts ENG cameras work best and since most of the church material is internet, cameras like canon c200 serve no purpose at all, even the GH5s a panasonic AC160 will do a better job, no extra lens, has SDI enough zoom and great images the c200 and BMPCC(without BM switches) in church work to me seems to build on what those camera can do elsewhere on other things but not what is ideal for church work. Im buying a PTZ not for the quality but as a stage camera directed to the crowd, eg in a conference where individuals in a conference ask questions, i need a camera that can zoom and pan to the individual, none of the above cameras can do that without an extra person or extra gudgets, the ptz has an advantage to all in that.
My church is looking to upgrade our live stream cameras. Our cameras are set about 60 feet away from the stage. We never move the cameras from their position on the stands. Their only purpose is the live video stream so low light is key. Our budget is around $1,500 any advice?
DON'T BUY A MIRRORLESS. Just look into camcorders. Sony and Panasonic make easy to use camcorders that are less than $1000.00. You can watch videos here on TH-cam about camcorders. Or you can go to a camera store and ask them about regular ole camcorders that will do the job for you just fine. There is no need whatsoever to get a mirrorless or other trendy camera that will be needlessly expensive.
I am really surprised at the footage from your c200. I have three c100s and the output is really detailed and clear. You can really see that lack of either focus or detail in the guys hat lettering. The c200 showed the lettering as soft and mushy and the color is not great. The BMD 6k was sp much better. I have the Canon 70-200mm f2.8 and I would not recommend it. It has great smooth zooming but the image is not very saturated or sharp. I replaced mine with a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 Di SP. Side by side the image from the Tamron is way better. It still has good low dept of field at 250-300mm. It was used like $300 range. The image is much more saturated and sharper. Looks way better than the Canon 70-200. Better reach for close-ups from back of room. The only down side is the zoom is not smooth, but I don't do much zooming shots anyway.
I don't recommend any camera as a Livestream church camera that doesn't have servo zoom and focus, manual hand held zoom and focus is untenable. Best is remote zoom and focus or full CCU.
Thank you for this video. It is great to see what people are using for their livestreams. I think I have settled on PTZ optics for mainly the budget but also conceivably be run by one person and even maybe remotely instead of a production team. One thing is not considered when picking these cameras is workspace and logistics. What happens when people return to the building but the church is interested in continuing the outreach through streaming? Are they going to return to see a couple of pews removed to make room for manned camera stations and is grandma going to catch her walker on the power cord that now has to be run across the floor? Also, the HDMI for these cameras can only be 50ft away. Where are you going to put the production table, next to the baptismal font?
I hate the Canon R 800. Yes, image is soft but that's not my only complaint. Touch screen is difficult to use. Jumps out of focus. Over exposes flesh tones. If there are manual controls I haven't found them. So why does every church related video recommend this camera when a Panasonic TM 700 is vastly superior?
Just get a camcorder that has autofocus. Almost every camcorder will staty in focus. They are built to be that way. These TH-cam 'instructional' videos complicate eveything.
Mirrorless cameras are too complicated to use. And churches dont need 4k, 6k, 8k, or 12k cameras. Just get a simple Sony or Panasonic camcorder. Un- complicate things. Camcorders work just fine.
doing a lot of zoom into a persons shirt? come on man, so absurd. you are being exposed. you guys were doing some good things originally but its borderline offensive at this point
He was highlighting the differences in how cameras handle shadows. It's a totally normal way to show differences between video quality. What's being exposed? I don't get it.
Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even th-cam.com/users/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.

A very real problem.
GH5 is great and good tip on manual focus.
What about the Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera or the Blackmagic Ursa/Ursa Mini
I HAVE A CANON VIXIA HF R10, PLS HOW CAN I CONNECT IT TO MY COMPUTER, IT IS NOT SHOWING IN MY COMPUTER.
What about the heat, you didn't really talk about it on the panasonic GH cameras
Can you change lenses on camcorders, like the cannon g20
Sorry that the camera cannot replace the lenses, but it has many styles, 12X, 20X, 30X. Zoom to your desired multiple
Thanks for this I have been processing this question, so this was timely.
Would love to see how the higher end PTZ 4K Cameras stack up against Mirrorless vs Cinema etc... like the:
Panasonic AW-UE150👍
* 4K 60fps
* SDI / HDMI /
* RTMPS Directly to Internet
As it has better better lens & sensor, as apposed to the Full HD PTZ cameras models.
Panasonic PTZ are the best you can get. I used them in Broadcast. If you have the money, buy the 1XX versions, because there are better on low light
The C200’s color correction looks really far off.
We have 3 gh5 in our church. Need be carefully with focus but awesome quality.
Manu, what lenses are you using and what would you recommend for getting good live-streaming shots from about 50 feet?
@@MarkASmith48 Hi Mark,
The Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150Mm F2.8 Pro. We have also 3. The best one
I kinda wish you had a Sony A7SIII for comparison as well since it's full frame, but I could imagine you're not in a hurry to get one of those with all the gear you already have. That, and I'm not sure if the A7SIII is actually shipping yet. Anyways, thank you for the video. I've wanted to see what PTZ Optics video looks like in comparison to a micro 4/3 mirrorless, and the difference is pretty substantial.
ha, yeah we have enough cameras. But I wouldn't mind getting the A7siii in the near future.
What about Canon eos RP?
We use a canon hdcam , it's a small cam, but no probs for us we are a small church
Magical. So sick
CAN THE SAME CAMERA BE USE FOR WEBCAM
No Sony? Is it that you do not recommend them or do own them?
Maybe he doesn't know as much about the subject as you think he does.
HOW APPLY COLOR ON AIR WITH ALL THIS CAMERA? WHEN i SHOOT THE VIDEO IS FLAT !
What about the zcams? Zcam e2c?
Our church is using an Obsbot Tail successfully. No camera operator needed.
I don't recommend any camera as a Livestream church camera that doesn't have servo zoom and focus, manual hand held zoom and focus is untenable. Best is remote zoom and focus or full CCU.
Giving advice on cameras while you're out of focus yourself?
BM 6K IS THE BEST..
Where are you going to put the production table, next to the baptismal font?
there are cable called SDI which can be converted from HDMI and back to HDMI and it has a range of about 300 ft and more
Blackmagic 6K had the best image quality over the C200.
Hi brother.. would you please help me with one camera... We need but no money. Please thank you.
kinda rough to compare all of these without color correction and matching, and without using the same exact angle.
Everything was great
your model seems very sad or tired, but great video nontheless :)
Well.. if his model works for a church, then I can see why! lol
Thanks 🙏
can you geach me this?
No BirdDog Cameras?!
Livestreaming doesn't have to be this expensive and complicated.
sony z90 is the best
Yes yes
huh?
You forget your phone+ pc app to use phone as webcam, usb webcam, and action camera...
I don't understand your feedback here. Can you elaborate?
He was highlighting the differences in how cameras handle shadows. It's a totally normal way to show differences between video quality. What's being exposed? I don't get it.
wak audio :(
Oh man, the audio... I'm out.
Sweer Jesus! Do any of you people feed the homeless?
a lil boring…
Installed it myself without any issues. The wifi signal is great even th-cam.com/users/postUgkxE_D_sddGAdiVUKp7PkkmyxO7bRtgqmk5 when the router is located far away. I really enjoy the night vision feature that allows me to see clearly any activity near our house (mostly cars and wild animals). The motion detection is helpful to me as well to monitor what happens on our front.
Get a Sony A7S III and a CamLink USB or ATEM Pro and you're good to go!
