The shadowy "phantoms" warning you that you have insomnia and will be attacked by the actual phantom is perfect. Way better than them just showing up unexpectedly and being instantly annoying once they do appear. Love the dream idea too!
I think the new phantom is even more annoying since you would just be minding your own business and then shadow creatures would start showing up no matter where you are. Not to mention the phantom spawning just to latch onto you and jumpscare you would be so annoying. I think its a good idea if you get rid of those aspects though.
The fact glowsquids in game were supposed to show up in oceans and then only spawned in caves that sucked, but then right after they also abandoned the mesmerizing mechanic they teased in the videos.
@workshoppingaccounts well in order to glow you have to have some kind of light which if you know what light does... Yep you got it, it light things up. Glowing is just another concept of light but is more concetrated to one being but it does still light up its surroundings (depending of how much lumens the source has). So yea the glowsquid should atleast light up 3 - 4 blocks considering of how bright they are (meaning they would produce some kind of light and be able to light things up)
@@oxyboxy5064You know inherently when you think of a thing producing light that usually means that when it produces light the light it produces produces light that lights things up cuz it's producing light. Which the glow squid, a thing named after the word glow and glowing which is when something produces light, doesn't produce light, it's extremely misleading and kind of makes it feel like it is just a reskin of the squid cuz it is.
In hindsight, the phantom was legitimately _the worst_ possible mob that could have been added in its mob vote. I was always partial to the "monster of the ocean depths" seeing as it matched the theme of the update far more than a sky demon that vaguely looks like a manta ray, but even still, I could have never guessed what a disaster the one we actually got was.
When they were first added, I AFK'd one time for like an hour inside my house and when I came back my game was chugging like the goddamn steam locomotive and I walked towards the window and looked up and could not see the moon in the sky above me because there was that dense of a sea worth of phantoms
@@zambekiller No actually it was nuts tho, like the very beginning when they FIRST first introduced this mob. It was a pocket edition glitch and it was almost the point of crashing my game just by looking up all on its own. I've still yet to recreate the amount of mobs I've seen in one spot naturally spawning
i’m personally not huge on the phantom redesign, but i LOVE the new behavior, it’s sick as hell. the shadows, the sense of being hunted, the new attack patterns, 10/10
i really like the shadows/hallucinations idea, id love that as a standalone mod or something. the phantom rework is interesting as well but personally i think it would be better as its own standalone mob as well(mainly since the modpacks i play give plenty of uses to phantom membranes, so only being able to fight one at a time is inconvenient)

When I first saw the reveal of the phantom I thought it would be some mysterious giant manta ray monster that would be a powerfull mob to defeat. I was disappointed by what Mojang did to it.

I agree, I desperately want something like this reimagined phantom to replace the tediously boring regular phantom that just does nothing in my worlds, easily one of the mods QOL redesign mods, and it's system is what i've been dreaming of - like something to capitalize on what can be done to incentivize sleep
It would be cool to have a twisted version of the glow squid that tries to lure you towards it a bit like the mesmer from Subnautica. What a coincidence that you've been inspired by the game around the same time I've gotten back into it. :P As for which one I'd vote for, I'm stumped. Not because both are bad options like they were before, but because they're both really good. However, the phantom intrigues me the most since I've been wanting more horror-like aspects in minecraft.
I also like the idea of it being a Mesmer. Maybe making it hostile would be a bad idea, but it's passive state makes it seem rather insignificant in actual gameplay. Good idea!
Everything in this video is so creative and unique. As a fellow subnautica fan, i must say adding more mobs to the deep sea along with reaper sfx is just amazing, and of course fills you with terror. Obviously the phantom is great too, but i dont have to talk about it since everyone else is lol
This is an awesome design. Think it would be cool to see a cactus spider crab thing in the desert. Like it looks like a cactus sticking out of the sand but when you get close or try to harvest the cactus it pops out and starts attacking you. Just a thought. Not the most scary idea but it’s an idea
This is absolutely amazing, I'm seriously so happy I found your channel. I love the idea of phantoms being something like a mini boss for anyone who decides to deprive themselves of sleep or just forgets to. And I like the whole glow worm caves as well. It'd be an amazing addition in minecraft, especially after spending so much time underground seeing nothing but stone and monsters. Finding a random pocket of glowing lifeforms would have anyone in awe and it'd liven your mood up. I know when I play minecraft and I'm mining for a long time I get really bored. I feel like those caves would be fun to look for, and the glow squid designs are so cute.
Being able to bucket a glowsquid and lead it or have it follow you tamed around underwater as a portable light source would actually make it really useful in exploring underwater caves.
I kinda like how your version of the Phantom looks like some really twisted Hellish Gargoyle. Makes me wonder that maybe in the distance or finding some structure, you see something that is so still, you think it’s a statue. But the moment you get closer, it comes alive and moves only slightly!
Honestly, the remodel of the Glow Squid, new blocks, and biome, just makes it all the more better. And the redesign of the Phantom? Oh that is so terrifying! And how we get a warning on the third day? Love it, you GOT to release these mods! They work so well with how it is October and people are doing spooky things! Fits in so well and makes a great addition to horror modpacks!
I have an idea for a mod if your willing to listen. With the sand temple’s in Minecraft, people often forget about them and never revisit but what if they have you a cursed charm? The charm could be a bracelet or anything really but the point is, is that it will give you a very good buff such as extra strength, quicker mining speed and more hearts but on the first day you obtain the charm from the sand temple you will hear a voice tell you to return the charm or suffer a curse, from then on you will see a stalker like enemy at first the player will only see glimpses but as they hold onto the charm for longer and longer the creature will appear more frequently and more aggressive. If the player is stubborn then it will start to: secretly open chest and doors, break glass occasionally, kill pets and villagers, replace blocks such as stone brick and wood with sandstone, no plants will grow and the grass will turn brown. Plus much more like random whispers and being unable to sleep. When the player decides that enough is enough and when they realise that having an extra buff isn’t worth all this trouble, they can bring it back to the temple and put it back we’re they found it (maybe back on an alter). I can imagine this enemy moving a bit like slender man (so teleporting around) and being wrapped in head to toe in bandages, having red eyes and wearing armour like it’s a royal guard.
I really like the idea of the phantom being a single, miniboss-like mob. That said, I don't know if I would use a mod like this simply due to how much it adds, with the "hallucinations" being way too much and being more reminiscent of a horror mod, which totally breaks the immersion for MC in my eyes.
Hey JoshBlueMoon, i have an idea for you for another cave noise. So basically using cave noise 23, you can create this ghost-like man named Gabriel. He's this grey skinned man with upkeep hair, torn robes, has light grey eyes, and wears a gold cross necklace. Despite his creepy appearance, the player feels a calm feeling when he's near them, (which explains the specific cave sound i chose for him). However though, because he was a priest who got lost in the caves and survived in the caves for years he is a shy, which is why sometimes he'll stalk you within the caves, and if you was to look at him or approach you while he's stalking you, he'll just run away from you at an alarming speed. But if you was to leave out food for him, he'll still stalk you at a distance, but if a mob is attacking you, he'll kill them before disappearing again. Which btw, in terms of strength, it almost as much as a Piglin brutes strength. Also, i should mention that Gabriel is natural and will kill you and or any mob that attacks him if he has to.
This is sick asf, the phantom actually look immidating, pair it with some fog and horror elements it can actually be a scary mob in a horror pack, honestly you're mad underrated, good job
As someone named phantom, I see this as an absolute W. Jokes aside, I really love your ideas. They're so unique and effective at what they're designed for it's honestly amazing.
I got a pretty good idea that combines your phantom with the man from the fog: A creature that works on number of days without sleep and proximity from your bed. Hell start to appear at night if you haven't slept for a while. Just a black silhouette in the distance that always seems to disappear when you look away. You start to see it more the farther you are from your bed. In trees, on hills, on the edges of your screen, or just barely visible in the distance. If you keep going he starts gaining features. First just a glowing pair of eyes, and then a glowing sharp tooth smile. Keep going and he'll start getting aggressive. Doing mock attacks where he'll run at you but run away last second. All the while hallucinations and false noises play around you. It all comes to ahead when he finally actually attacks you, bringing you near to death but he has a random chance of just running away instead of killing you. He gets less aggressive the closer you are to your bed and he has a timer for when he respawns after he kills you. If you make it back to your bed, he'll wait a certain distance away and if you walk that certain distance away from your bed he'll automatically attack you. If you kill him, he's gone until the next night where the process repeats. If you don't have a bed or if you destroy it you're just fucked. Better build one.
Seeing the way you reworked the phantom genuinely makes me wish you had turned it into a boss creature instead. 5 nights, 5 warnings, only to then be met by a singular, terrifying creature. The current moveset and abilities are cool but a few more attacks and the phantom could totally be a boss.
i feel like spiders could use some revamps, perhaps make it where spiders have their own cave biome like a spider nest and they can lay eggs and shoot webs at you, and a bit of tweaks to the model and animation, furthermore I feel like you could add more variety to the spiders, like different colors and sizes, and the poison spiders should be able to shoot acid which damages you and also applies blindness
OMG I love the baby glow squid idea for underwater exploring. Even if that was the only thing that got added that would honestly make glow squids much more useful and cool.
I think glow squid would add a lot more ambience and it would be really cool. Phantoms aren’t really my thing but your design is pretty cool and i love the idea of the hallucinations leading up to it. I would personally vote for the squid
I think personally you should make the Enderman more scary by making it attack on sight and not spawn as much in the end there should be three places it should spawn villages the end gateway and forest and most likely make its language clear but more deeper and also it should be more of a shy mob and just stares at you but when you get close it attacks and also making it scream way louder to make your want to run for its texture it should be taller and it’s body should be lighter so you can see a Purple Heart in it and the Purple Heart will beep faster when the enderman attacks and also I like the idea of souls in Minecraft so when it dies it should drop a lost soul that can be put in a lantern that makes it a soul lantern that will light up and start screaming when something gets closer…. Idk what that would be but if you have an idea on the thing that made the enderman then that should be it
That phantom glow up is such an amazing addition that people (including me) who hate horror mods would consider installing one with it. Model be damned it’s designed quite well mechanically and would fit right in with the base game, so if you're still around definitely consider getting in contact with modders who could make this happen. Super good stuff
I just wanted to ask if there was any way we could download this revamp of the Phantom and Glow Squid, because I'm sure we all really want to experience the potential that you beautifully brought out of these mobs. Aside from that, very cool video, the revamps are absolutely amazing!
We needa get some type of mob that’s for *only* scaring, and another mob that accompanies it, that actually tries to kill you. (The scary killing mob gets attracted to the noise, and the Noise playing, and player scaring mob uses noise to help the monster find you)
Although this is a nice video for the phantoms I feel like the drastic change in phantom design you made makes it feel like it’s trying to be scary. When trying to make something scary it kind of just rubs off as being below average. Either way, nice video, can’t wait to see what you’ll do other mobs!

The glowsquid emitting light would make SUCH a cool light source if there were mini ones we could put in aquariums, and also be useful for caving. That said, my heart was won by the creepy phantom. The art itself is such a massive upgrade, everything after that was somehow even better. Mojang should change their attack patterns to be more like this, it would be much more fun to fight.
I've watched a few vids of yours now. Without a doubt your modeling, shading and animating are more creative and entertaining than most new additions to the game. At this point Microsoft should just crowdsource their models from talented individuals such as yourself.
An idea I think would be cool is a Monster that roams Mineshafts & Strongholds, it can be heard but never seen, always staying invisible so you'd have to carefully listen for it when exploring. On occasion it can be heard running after the Player, with the time you have, if you can manage to look at where it's coming from in time it'll run away but fail to do so then it'll show itself once close enough. I imagine it resembling half a person; a torso being held up by it's two arms with a ribcage mouth it'd use to try gnaw and eat the Player whole. Some other ides I have as well is that due to how narrow the space can be in Mineshafts and Strongholds, when it decides to run after you it'll be dangling from the ceiling as it comes, making it hard to pinpoint where it's coming from. My favorite idea for it is what if having a Totem of Undying in hand causes it to expose the creature and set it on fire, like a crucifix towards a demon?
I actually clicked on this video because I saw the Phantom redesign and thought ‘that looks like Mothman!’ Also here’s a horror mob idea based off the Hidebehind. The Hidebehind is a tall, slender black figure, with an almost humanoid shape, yet fathoms too tall to be human. It has large white glowing eyes and long fingers like tree branches to snag its prey. It makes a sound like a rattling maraca, following its prey far through the taigas it calls home. It stays just behind trees, so you will probably only see a sliver of it if you are lucky. If you heard the Hidebehind, the best chance at survival you have is to flee the forest as fast as you can. The closer you reach to the edge of the forest, the less the Hidebehind strives to conceal its figure. For periods it will begin chasing you on its long legs, but then duck behind a stone or tree again. At this time, the maraca sound is much louder. If it reaches you, you will see it’s fingers close over your eyes, and you will see flickers of its eyes between the gaps. If you escape the forest, you may see it pace along the biome’s border for a bit before it crawls back into the tree line. This addition would also add more trees, rocks, fallen logs, bushes, etc. to the biome, making it increasingly hard to see your stalker I find it funny that I enjoy creating things like this even though I hate horror games because I am a huge chicken
I would like to see your take on the enderman, the perfect idea for a creepy monster, maybe you can make some improvements to it in order to make it more scary
New Phantom absolutely, it would be an actually dangerous fight and the shadows would be creepy as hell. The only thing I would change about it is to have 1 pack of 3 normal phantoms on night 4 after the new phantom leaves to get you ready for the fight ahead.
You should make a boss version of that phantom it could be bigger and more deformed and spawns if you don't sleep for like 20 days and can maybe pick you up and drop you if you don't kill it fast enough
What I initially thought the Phantoms would do is swoop down and give you blindness whenever they attacked you, but at the same time they have extremely low health and can die to 1 hit from like, a stone sword or above.
I'm IN LOVE with the shadow hallucinations. That's absolutely perfect and feels so good. I also love the behavior patterns of both these mobs! I like the eyes on the glow squid because it looks so silly.
Mojang is so lazy. This only took you like a few days, and the mob vote mobs can be created by modders in less than a full day. Respect to you for doing what Mojang could not

I have an idea: the Nether Seeker If you stay in the nether for more than 5 to 10 minutes whilst a nether star is in your inventory, you may start to see strange carvings in the Netherrack. get rid of these carvings before you try leave the nether, or you'll se a shadowy, rocky-like giant hand break the portal by tearing off a chunk of the frame and taking it away like a slice of pizza from the whole. As soon as you get stuck in the nether, you'll feel watched. 2 to 5 minutes later, the Seeker will finally spawn. it will look like it's part of the nether wall, except there are two strange lava holes. as soon as you get close, it will jumpscare the player by bursting is body away from the rock before roaring at the player's face and jumping 5 blocks away to start the bossfight. The seeker could shoot fire charges, throw flaming chunks of Netherrack, or flamethrow from its magmatic mouth. once it reahces half health, its arms break off, and they are replaced with fiery glowing swords. it now has the ability to create rings of fire around it and do a burning slash attack. Once it's done, it will turn into a simple netherrack structure, a chest revealed inside its mouth, with a nether jewel inside. combine this with the star and some blaze rods, and you've got your own Nether Magic Staff, which could shoot fire or spawn nether creatures to defend you (Has a cooldown.)
11 months later, I come back looking for this video that I remembered being so epic and terrifying tinking it WAS a mod, and looking for a Curseforge link, and now I'm very sad. Great work, though!
I really like the way you reworked the phantom. I do have three ideas: 1. The Phantom will attack you on a random night, not specifically the fifth one. That way the Phantom can become more unpredictable, and the jumpscare will be more effective. All the strange sounds and hallucinations tell that the chances of the Phantom occurring are increasing, and that it will only be a matter of time before he strikes. 2. The Phantom only attacks you when you are in the dark and alone. If you abuse this by having a light source with you and not sleeping, eventually that light source will start to dim, and the Phantom will laugh as it’s about to attack. If you abuse this by always staying in a village, one night all the villagers will vanish and it’ll be just you and the Phantom. If you kill the Phantom, your light source will work again and all the villagers will return as if nothing happened. 3. I think if you haven’t slept for a REALLY long time and you decide to finally go to bed, when you click on a bed the Phantom will jump out of it and jumpscare you, and you’ll have to fight it. Either this will only happen if you try to sleep in a bed that isn’t your spawn point, if you try to sleep on the night the Phantom decides to attack, or if the Phantom is already attacking you and you’re trying to escape to your bed.
I like the idea that the phantoms only torment the player on occasion, and being briefly hostile after you attempt to sleep. This would establish it's goal to perpetuate the player's insomnia, and make the condition of the player progressively worse. This will make the phantom more powerful the more you let it prevent you from sleeping, only attempting to kill you by trying to sleep multiple times, or attacking it.
That Phantom is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, no joke. I'd pick that without hesitation. But I'd be a little more interested in the Glow Squids if you added a hypnotic effect to them. They made the implication in that mob vote that the glowing of the squids could entrance you, and yet nothing ever came of it, and I know quite a few people (myself included) were disappointed by that fact.
Add the terror of the deep , from the first mob vote and make it significantly more terrifying, like what if it could grab you off of the shore or right out of your boat , without you not even noticing it was there in the first place
I'd love to see a mod that adds some biome specific mini-bosses with your unique horror touch. A mummy or scarab creature for deserts, some kind of vine-wrapped husk for the jungle, a giant buzzard for the mesa biome, huge rhino for the savannah biome, etc.
Both of these are amazing, but the phantom wins. That thing is crazy awesome. I love all the detail, an how it reacts over the 5 days. With how bad ass it is, you should almost stretch the days to 7 instead of 5. And on the 4th day you don't sleep, the Phantom attacks you, puts a debuff on you, then flys away. That's essentially him marking his prey he will consume in a few more days. He just needs the player to get more tired, and crazy from staying up so long. And the only way for the player can remove the debuff would be to make a certain potion to cure it, then sleep before the 7th day comes. Just an idea. Anyway, amazing job man!
The sounds you make are top notch and just amazing. one of the main reasons I love subnautica so much is because of the sound design and your sounds reminds me of just the quality of it
The phantom being a miniboss is such a cool concept! I'd say maybe after you kill it, one night it should reset the counter or have a cooldown for showing up
Both are pretty cool but I’m a sucker for sea life so glow squid wins my vote. Also for the deep ocean what if a colossal glow squid could spawn in it. And could change its color from green,yellow,red signifying aggression.

Imagine a mob that doesnt act like the from the fog or cave dweller or even the creepy slow walking big guy that 100% could move fast AF, but instead stalks you from the distance and despawns a second after the player has seen it. Would add lots of paranoia

Ideas: 1. Hawk/Eagle, found in most biomes and can be tamed with all kinds of meat and fish. They can be used almost like drones for an eye in the sky; and if you write something in a book and quill, you can attach it to them and use them to send long distance messages. I also thought that maybe the could be different variants depending on the biome (e.g a vulture for desert and owl for snow). 2. Troll. I'll be honest, I didn't really put much thought into this one, I thought it would basically be a big hulking zombie that would turn to stone in the daylight and be mined for stone.

Also I got some some creature ideas that can also spawn in the deep dark ocean biome along with the glow squid, you dont have to add them but can you at least consider adding them plz? List: - Deep Fish: these fish would be like the tropical fish, but they can only spawn in 3 different varients, blue and green, red, and black, these would spawn more abondontly because they are a source of food for many animals found in the deep dark ocean, including the glow squid, they could also be found in the glow caves or anywhere underwater below Y0 - Platypterygius: this small Ichthyosaurid can be found in the deep dark ocean, they will eat deep fish and can be breedable with you handing them both the deep fish food and tropical fish food, they are completely passive twards the player as well. - Halisaurus: Halosaurus is a Small Mosasaurid that can also be found in the deep dark ocean, they would also hunt deep fish, but they will also hunt Platypterygius, but it's much more rare, they can also be breedable with deep fish or tropical fish, and they are neutral twards the player. - Elasmosaurus: this Large Plesiosaurid would be found in both the deep dark ocean or anywhere underwater below Y-30, they would hunt deep fish and can also be breedable with deep fish or tropical fish, and they're Neutral twards the player. - Liopleurodon: also a Large Plesiosaurid found in the deep dark ocean or anywhere underwater below Y-30, they will also hunt deep fish and also be breedable with both deep fish and tropical fish, and also Neutral twards the player. - Xiphactinus: this mean fish would eat any Deep Fish, Platypterygius, Halisaurus, Elasmosaurus, and Liopleurodon that comes in it's way, found only in the deep dark ocean and way more rarely than the 5 others I mentioned, they are hostile twards the player. - Dunkleosteus: Dunkleosteus is the one fish species that the Xiphactinus would actually be afraid of, the Dunkleosteus would eat any deep fish or Xiphactinus it crosses, it is Neutral twards the player but hostile if you get near it's baby/ies, but they are breedable with Raw Chicken, Raw Mutton, and Raw Beef and they would remain neutral twards the player even if you aproch it and it baby/ies, it would be found in the deep dark ocean or the deep dark itself if it has any aquafers. - Megalodon: The Meg is the strongest creature that can be found in the Deep Dark Ocean, they would eat anything they come across in the deep dark ocean, they are hostile twards the player unless if you punch one and it just flees.
The only complaint about this (in my opinion) is that its a little bit to many blocks in the design, but since large mobs usually have more detail except for the ghast, its nice, 9.7/10 cookies.
Dude after watching all your videos you should Definitely make a butt load of mods… ----- 1-Terrors of the night. (The phantoms) ----- 2-Glow and Behold. (The Glow squid w/ biome) ------ 3-Not Alone! (The Cave sounds/other mobs) ----- You’d be rich for sure!!
I think a way of the glowsquids being more useful is to have them be super rare, and for that reason you could either keep them or kill them. Killing a glowsquid could drop glowing ink or something, and with that you could use their glow to put into anything. Even your weapons! Imagine having a glowing sword to see through the dark without any waste of torches.
Ok hear me out. A boss for the ice spikes biome. It can be called the frostbite. Its a hunched over enderman (terrible back posture) cradling itself slowly walking in any direction. each time it takes a step it sounds like broken ice or broken glass. Its covered ice with spike of ice protruding from areas like the hands. nails. head and spine. It attacks by swiping at you WITH said ice-esk nails. firing nails at you. and summoning snow golems (they throw chunks of ice instead of snowballs). It can also summon spikes of ice from the ground or use a chillin mist to slow you down. (its like a beath attack) if killed it'll drop the frigged soul. It can be put on swords and axes. its basically a better fire aspect. except it deals what we can call frostbite damage. (basically fire tick damage with an added slowdown to whatever it hits. and instead of redish orange fire it'll be blueish white)
Better idea than what I had in mind with the Phantom, where they are bigger, darker colored, and spawn up to three over consecutive nights. Where they fly around the sky and give the player bad status effects, and only attack when the player attacks first. Though they'd be slower, but cover a bigger area of attack.
1:53 The shadow figures people see are a manifestation of the dreamscape. I both partook in dreamlab research on lucid dreaming and later dealt with insomnia during the lockdowns as my sleep apnea coupled with the breathing issues kept me up for five days straight. I was seeing this I knew were real, my skin felt like it was crawling, and my eyes ached. I did chase one entity I saw with a knife though. Thing is, it turn and fled out a window screaming. Turned out a guy had broken in, was in the hallway of my parents’ addition to the house, having just entered, just to see a deranged Italian with a knife wearing a tanktop and pajama pants charging at him swiping in front of him. I had closed the window as I felt cold, not realizing at the time what happened, then passed out right there. Woke up a day later feeling rested once more, but very weak.

I feel like they would be a bit annoying and intrusive, especially if you don't care about it and are just doing something else
I think the new phantom is even more annoying since you would just be minding your own business and then shadow creatures would start showing up no matter where you are. Not to mention the phantom spawning just to latch onto you and jumpscare you would be so annoying. I think its a good idea if you get rid of those aspects though.
The fact glowsquids in game were supposed to show up in oceans and then only spawned in caves that sucked, but then right after they also abandoned the mesmerizing mechanic they teased in the videos.

@workshoppingaccounts well in order to glow you have to have some kind of light which if you know what light does... Yep you got it, it light things up. Glowing is just another concept of light but is more concetrated to one being but it does still light up its surroundings (depending of how much lumens the source has). So yea the glowsquid should atleast light up 3 - 4 blocks considering of how bright they are (meaning they would produce some kind of light and be able to light things up)

Which the glow squid, a thing named after the word glow and glowing which is when something produces light, doesn't produce light, it's extremely misleading and kind of makes it feel like it is just a reskin of the squid cuz it is.

In hindsight, the phantom was legitimately _the worst_ possible mob that could have been added in its mob vote. I was always partial to the "monster of the ocean depths" seeing as it matched the theme of the update far more than a sky demon that vaguely looks like a manta ray, but even still, I could have never guessed what a disaster the one we actually got was.
When they were first added, I AFK'd one time for like an hour inside my house and when I came back my game was chugging like the goddamn steam locomotive and I walked towards the window and looked up and could not see the moon in the sky above me because there was that dense of a sea worth of phantoms

It was a pocket edition glitch and it was almost the point of crashing my game just by looking up all on its own. I've still yet to recreate the amount of mobs I've seen in one spot naturally spawning

i really like the shadows/hallucinations idea, id love that as a standalone mod or something. the phantom rework is interesting as well but personally i think it would be better as its own standalone mob as well(mainly since the modpacks i play give plenty of uses to phantom membranes, so only being able to fight one at a time is inconvenient)

When I first saw the reveal of the phantom I thought it would be some mysterious giant manta ray monster that would be a powerfull mob to defeat. I was disappointed by what Mojang did to it.

As for which one I'd vote for, I'm stumped. Not because both are bad options like they were before, but because they're both really good. However, the phantom intrigues me the most since I've been wanting more horror-like aspects in minecraft.
I also like the idea of it being a Mesmer. Maybe making it hostile would be a bad idea, but it's passive state makes it seem rather insignificant in actual gameplay. Good idea!
Everything in this video is so creative and unique. As a fellow subnautica fan, i must say adding more mobs to the deep sea along with reaper sfx is just amazing, and of course fills you with terror. Obviously the phantom is great too, but i dont have to talk about it since everyone else is lol
This is an awesome design. Think it would be cool to see a cactus spider crab thing in the desert. Like it looks like a cactus sticking out of the sand but when you get close or try to harvest the cactus it pops out and starts attacking you. Just a thought. Not the most scary idea but it’s an idea

This is absolutely amazing, I'm seriously so happy I found your channel.
I love the idea of phantoms being something like a mini boss for anyone who decides to deprive themselves of sleep or just forgets to. And I like the whole glow worm caves as well. It'd be an amazing addition in minecraft, especially after spending so much time underground seeing nothing but stone and monsters. Finding a random pocket of glowing lifeforms would have anyone in awe and it'd liven your mood up. I know when I play minecraft and I'm mining for a long time I get really bored. I feel like those caves would be fun to look for, and the glow squid designs are so cute.
Being able to bucket a glowsquid and lead it or have it follow you tamed around underwater as a portable light source would actually make it really useful in exploring underwater caves.
I kinda like how your version of the Phantom looks like some really twisted Hellish Gargoyle.
Makes me wonder that maybe in the distance or finding some structure, you see something that is so still, you think it’s a statue. But the moment you get closer, it comes alive and moves only slightly!

And how we get a warning on the third day? Love it, you GOT to release these mods! They work so well with how it is October and people are doing spooky things! I have an idea for a mod if your willing to listen. With the sand temple’s in Minecraft, people often forget about them and never revisit but what if they have you a cursed charm? The charm could be a bracelet or anything really but the point is, is that it will give you a very good buff such as extra strength, quicker mining speed and more hearts but on the first day you obtain the charm from the sand temple you will hear a voice tell you to return the charm or suffer a curse, from then on you will see a stalker like enemy at first the player will only see glimpses but as they hold onto the charm for longer and longer the creature will appear more frequently and more aggressive. If the player is stubborn then it will start to: secretly open chest and doors, break glass occasionally, kill pets and villagers, replace blocks such as stone brick and wood with sandstone, no plants will grow and the grass will turn brown. Plus much more like random whispers and being unable to sleep. When the player decides that enough is enough and when they realise that having an extra buff isn’t worth all this trouble, they can bring it back to the temple and put it back we’re they found it (maybe back on an alter). I can imagine this enemy moving a bit like slender man (so teleporting around) and being wrapped in head to toe in bandages, having red eyes and wearing armour like it’s a royal guard.

I really like the idea of the phantom being a single, miniboss-like mob. That said, I don't know if I would use a mod like this simply due to how much it adds, with the "hallucinations" being way too much and being more reminiscent of a horror mod, which totally breaks the immersion for MC in my eyes.
Hey JoshBlueMoon, i have an idea for you for another cave noise. So basically using cave noise 23, you can create this ghost-like man named Gabriel. He's this grey skinned man with upkeep hair, torn robes, has light grey eyes, and wears a gold cross necklace. Despite his creepy appearance, the player feels a calm feeling when he's near them, (which explains the specific cave sound i chose for him). However though, because he was a priest who got lost in the caves and survived in the caves for years he is a shy, which is why sometimes he'll stalk you within the caves, and if you was to look at him or approach you while he's stalking you, he'll just run away from you at an alarming speed. But if you was to leave out food for him, he'll still stalk you at a distance, but if a mob is attacking you, he'll kill them before disappearing again. Which btw, in terms of strength, it almost as much as a Piglin brutes strength. Also, i should mention that Gabriel is natural and will kill you and or any mob that attacks him if he has to.
This is sick asf, the phantom actually look immidating, pair it with some fog and horror elements it can actually be a scary mob in a horror pack, honestly you're mad underrated, good job

I got a pretty good idea that combines your phantom with the man from the fog:
A creature that works on number of days without sleep and proximity from your bed. Hell start to appear at night if you haven't slept for a while. Just a black silhouette in the distance that always seems to disappear when you look away. You start to see it more the farther you are from your bed. In trees, on hills, on the edges of your screen, or just barely visible in the distance. If you keep going he starts gaining features. First just a glowing pair of eyes, and then a glowing sharp tooth smile. Keep going and he'll start getting aggressive. Doing mock attacks where he'll run at you but run away last second. All the while hallucinations and false noises play around you. It all comes to ahead when he finally actually attacks you, bringing you near to death but he has a random chance of just running away instead of killing you. He gets less aggressive the closer you are to your bed and he has a timer for when he respawns after he kills you. If you make it back to your bed, he'll wait a certain distance away and if you walk that certain distance away from your bed he'll automatically attack you. If you kill him, he's gone until the next night where the process repeats. If you don't have a bed or if you destroy it you're just fucked. Better build one.
Seeing the way you reworked the phantom genuinely makes me wish you had turned it into a boss creature instead. 5 nights, 5 warnings, only to then be met by a singular, terrifying creature. The current moveset and abilities are cool but a few more attacks and the phantom could totally be a boss.

i feel like spiders could use some revamps, perhaps make it where spiders have their own cave biome like a spider nest and they can lay eggs and shoot webs at you, and a bit of tweaks to the model and animation, furthermore I feel like you could add more variety to the spiders, like different colors and sizes, and the poison spiders should be able to shoot acid which damages you and also applies blindness
OMG I love the baby glow squid idea for underwater exploring. Even if that was the only thing that got added that would honestly make glow squids much more useful and cool.

It's really a crime that this is not a public mod.
I think personally you should make the Enderman more scary by making it attack on sight and not spawn as much in the end there should be three places it should spawn villages the end gateway and forest and most likely make its language clear but more deeper and also it should be more of a shy mob and just stares at you but when you get close it attacks and also making it scream way louder to make your want to run for its texture it should be taller and it’s body should be lighter so you can see a Purple Heart in it and the Purple Heart will beep faster when the enderman attacks and also I like the idea of souls in Minecraft so when it dies it should drop a lost soul that can be put in a lantern that makes it a soul lantern that will light up and start screaming when something gets closer…. Idk what that would be but if you have an idea on the thing that made the enderman then that should be it
That phantom glow up is such an amazing addition that people (including me) who hate horror mods would consider installing one with it. Model be damned it’s designed quite well mechanically and would fit right in with the base game, so if you're still around definitely consider getting in contact with modders who could make this happen. Super good stuff

We needa get some type of mob that’s for *only* scaring, and another mob that accompanies it, that actually tries to kill you.
(The scary killing mob gets attracted to the noise, and the Noise playing, and player scaring mob uses noise to help the monster find you)

Although this is a nice video for the phantoms I feel like the drastic change in phantom design you made makes it feel like it’s trying to be scary. The new phantom is needed and the new glow squid and it's biomes are amazing.
The glowsquid would be cooler if it were a really long, jellyfish-like mob instead of a copy-pasted squid.
The glowsquid emitting light would make SUCH a cool light source if there were mini ones we could put in aquariums, and also be useful for caving. That said, my heart was won by the creepy phantom. The art itself is such a massive upgrade, everything after that was somehow even better. Mojang should change their attack patterns to be more like this, it would be much more fun to fight.

I've watched a few vids of yours now. Without a doubt your modeling, shading and animating are more creative and entertaining than most new additions to the game. At this point Microsoft should just crowdsource their models from talented individuals such as yourself.
An idea I think would be cool is a Monster that roams Mineshafts & Strongholds, it can be heard but never seen, always staying invisible so you'd have to carefully listen for it when exploring. On occasion it can be heard running after the Player, with the time you have, if you can manage to look at where it's coming from in time it'll run away but fail to do so then it'll show itself once close enough. I imagine it resembling half a person; a torso being held up by it's two arms with a ribcage mouth it'd use to try gnaw and eat the Player whole.
Some other ides I have as well is that due to how narrow the space can be in Mineshafts and Strongholds, when it decides to run after you it'll be dangling from the ceiling as it comes, making it hard to pinpoint where it's coming from. My favorite idea for it is what if having a Totem of Undying in hand causes it to expose the creature and set it on fire, like a crucifix towards a demon?

Also here’s a horror mob idea based off the Hidebehind.
The Hidebehind is a tall, slender black figure, with an almost humanoid shape, yet fathoms too tall to be human. It has large white glowing eyes and long fingers like tree branches to snag its prey.
It makes a sound like a rattling maraca, following its prey far through the taigas it calls home. It stays just behind trees, so you will probably only see a sliver of it if you are lucky.
If you heard the Hidebehind, the best chance at survival you have is to flee the forest as fast as you can. The closer you reach to the edge of the forest, the less the Hidebehind strives to conceal its figure. For periods it will begin chasing you on its long legs, but then duck behind a stone or tree again. At this time, the maraca sound is much louder.
If it reaches you, you will see it’s fingers close over your eyes, and you will see flickers of its eyes between the gaps.
If you escape the forest, you may see it pace along the biome’s border for a bit before it crawls back into the tree line.
This addition would also add more trees, rocks, fallen logs, bushes, etc. to the biome, making it increasingly hard to see your stalker
I find it funny that I enjoy creating things like this even though I hate horror games because I am a huge chicken

New Phantom absolutely, it would be an actually dangerous fight and the shadows would be creepy as hell. The only thing I would change about it is to have 1 pack of 3 normal phantoms on night 4 after the new phantom leaves to get you ready for the fight ahead.
You should make a boss version of that phantom it could be bigger and more deformed and spawns if you don't sleep for like 20 days and can maybe pick you up and drop you if you don't kill it fast enough
What I initially thought the Phantoms would do is swoop down and give you blindness whenever they attacked you, but at the same time they have extremely low health and can die to 1 hit from like, a stone sword or above.
I'm IN LOVE with the shadow hallucinations. That's absolutely perfect and feels so good.
I also love the behavior patterns of both these mobs! I like the eyes on the glow squid because it looks so silly.

I have an idea: the Nether Seeker
If you stay in the nether for more than 5 to 10 minutes whilst a nether star is in your inventory, you may start to see strange carvings in the Netherrack. get rid of these carvings before you try leave the nether, or you'll se a shadowy, rocky-like giant hand break the portal by tearing off a chunk of the frame and taking it away like a slice of pizza from the whole.
As soon as you get stuck in the nether, you'll feel watched. 2 to 5 minutes later, the Seeker will finally spawn. it will look like it's part of the nether wall, except there are two strange lava holes. as soon as you get close, it will jumpscare the player by bursting is body away from the rock before roaring at the player's face and jumping 5 blocks away to start the bossfight.
The seeker could shoot fire charges, throw flaming chunks of Netherrack, or flamethrow from its magmatic mouth. once it reahces half health, its arms break off, and they are replaced with fiery glowing swords. it now has the ability to create rings of fire around it and do a burning slash attack.
Once it's done, it will turn into a simple netherrack structure, a chest revealed inside its mouth, with a nether jewel inside. combine this with the star and some blaze rods, and you've got your own Nether Magic Staff, which could shoot fire or spawn nether creatures to defend you (Has a cooldown.)
11 months later, I come back looking for this video that I remembered being so epic and terrifying tinking it WAS a mod, and looking for a Curseforge link, and now I'm very sad. Great work, though!

I really like the way you reworked the phantom. I do have three ideas:
1. The Phantom will attack you on a random night, not specifically the fifth one. That way the Phantom can become more unpredictable, and the jumpscare will be more effective. All the strange sounds and hallucinations tell that the chances of the Phantom occurring are increasing, and that it will only be a matter of time before he strikes.
2. The Phantom only attacks you when you are in the dark and alone. If you abuse this by having a light source with you and not sleeping, eventually that light source will start to dim, and the Phantom will laugh as it’s about to attack. If you abuse this by always staying in a village, one night all the villagers will vanish and it’ll be just you and the Phantom. If you kill the Phantom, your light source will work again and all the villagers will return as if nothing happened.
3. I think if you haven’t slept for a REALLY long time and you decide to finally go to bed, when you click on a bed the Phantom will jump out of it and jumpscare you, and you’ll have to fight it. Either this will only happen if you try to sleep in a bed that isn’t your spawn point, if you try to sleep on the night the Phantom decides to attack, or if the Phantom is already attacking you and you’re trying to escape to your bed.
I like the idea that the phantoms only torment the player on occasion, and being briefly hostile after you attempt to sleep. This would establish it's goal to perpetuate the player's insomnia, and make the condition of the player progressively worse. This will make the phantom more powerful the more you let it prevent you from sleeping, only attempting to kill you by trying to sleep multiple times, or attacking it.
That Phantom is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, no joke. I'd pick that without hesitation. But I'd be a little more interested in the Glow Squids if you added a hypnotic effect to them. They made the implication in that mob vote that the glowing of the squids could entrance you, and yet nothing ever came of it, and I know quite a few people (myself included) were disappointed by that fact.
Add the terror of the deep , from the first mob vote and make it significantly more terrifying, like what if it could grab you off of the shore or right out of your boat , without you not even noticing it was there in the first place
I'd love to see a mod that adds some biome specific mini-bosses with your unique horror touch. A mummy or scarab creature for deserts, some kind of vine-wrapped husk for the jungle, a giant buzzard for the mesa biome, huge rhino for the savannah biome, etc.
Both of these are amazing, but the phantom wins. That thing is crazy awesome. I love all the detail, an how it reacts over the 5 days. With how bad ass it is, you should almost stretch the days to 7 instead of 5. And on the 4th day you don't sleep, the Phantom attacks you, puts a debuff on you, then flys away. That's essentially him marking his prey he will consume in a few more days. He just needs the player to get more tired, and crazy from staying up so long. And the only way for the player can remove the debuff would be to make a certain potion to cure it, then sleep before the 7th day comes. Just an idea.
Anyway, amazing job man!

Ideas:
1. Hawk/Eagle, found in most biomes and can be tamed with all kinds of meat and fish. They can be used almost like drones for an eye in the sky; and if you write something in a book and quill, you can attach it to them and use them to send long distance messages. I also thought that maybe the could be different variants depending on the biome (e.g a vulture for desert and owl for snow).
2. Troll. I'll be honest, I didn't really put much thought into this one, I thought it would basically be a big hulking zombie that would turn to stone in the daylight and be mined for stone.
Awesome video!!! Also I got some some creature ideas that can also spawn in the deep dark ocean biome along with the glow squid, you dont have to add them but can you at least consider adding them plz?
List:
- Deep Fish: these fish would be like the tropical fish, but they can only spawn in 3 different varients, blue and green, red, and black, these would spawn more abondontly because they are a source of food for many animals found in the deep dark ocean, including the glow squid, they could also be found in the glow caves or anywhere underwater below Y0
- Platypterygius: this small Ichthyosaurid can be found in the deep dark ocean, they will eat deep fish and can be breedable with you handing them both the deep fish food and tropical fish food, they are completely passive twards the player as well.
- Halisaurus: Halosaurus is a Small Mosasaurid that can also be found in the deep dark ocean, they would also hunt deep fish, but they will also hunt Platypterygius, but it's much more rare, they can also be breedable with deep fish or tropical fish, and they are neutral twards the player.
- Elasmosaurus: this Large Plesiosaurid would be found in both the deep dark ocean or anywhere underwater below Y-30, they would hunt deep fish and can also be breedable with deep fish or tropical fish, and they're Neutral twards the player.
- Liopleurodon: also a Large Plesiosaurid found in the deep dark ocean or anywhere underwater below Y-30, they will also hunt deep fish and also be breedable with both deep fish and tropical fish, and also Neutral twards the player.
- Xiphactinus: this mean fish would eat any Deep Fish, Platypterygius, Halisaurus, Elasmosaurus, and Liopleurodon that comes in it's way, found only in the deep dark ocean and way more rarely than the 5 others I mentioned, they are hostile twards the player.
- Dunkleosteus: Dunkleosteus is the one fish species that the Xiphactinus would actually be afraid of, the Dunkleosteus would eat any deep fish or Xiphactinus it crosses, it is Neutral twards the player but hostile if you get near it's baby/ies, but they are breedable with Raw Chicken, Raw Mutton, and Raw Beef and they would remain neutral twards the player even if you aproch it and it baby/ies, it would be found in the deep dark ocean or the deep dark itself if it has any aquafers.
- Megalodon: The Meg is the strongest creature that can be found in the Deep Dark Ocean, they would eat anything they come across in the deep dark ocean, they are hostile twards the player unless if you punch one and it just flees.

Fun fact: To not spawn phantoms, all you have to do is just Interact with the bed like for a second
The only complaint about this (in my opinion) is that its a little bit to many blocks in the design, but since large mobs usually have more detail except for the ghast, its nice, 9.7/10 cookies.
This is 1000x better mojang should make this the new phantom

I think a way of the glowsquids being more useful is to have them be super rare, and for that reason you could either keep them or kill them.
Killing a glowsquid could drop glowing ink or something, and with that you could use their glow to put into anything.
Even your weapons! Imagine having a glowing sword to see through the dark without any waste of torches.
Ok hear me out. A boss for the ice spikes biome.
It can be called the frostbite. Its a hunched over enderman (terrible back posture) cradling itself slowly walking in any direction. each time it takes a step it sounds like broken ice or broken glass. Its covered ice with spike of ice protruding from areas like the hands. nails. head and spine.
It attacks by swiping at you WITH said ice-esk nails. firing nails at you. and summoning snow golems (they throw chunks of ice instead of snowballs). It can also summon spikes of ice from the ground or use a chillin mist to slow you down. (its like a beath attack)
if killed it'll drop the frigged soul. It can be put on swords and axes. its basically a better fire aspect. except it deals what we can call frostbite damage. (basically fire tick damage with an added slowdown to whatever it hits. and instead of redish orange fire it'll be blueish white)
I'm awaiting the day a group of modders makes a whole Minecraft Horror Update. I'd love to see that!

The redesigned Phantom looks like the Mothman but I like it plus I like you added the Dreamcatcher item just to avoid the Phantom while you sleeping
Better idea than what I had in mind with the Phantom, where they are bigger, darker colored, and spawn up to three over consecutive nights.
Where they fly around the sky and give the player bad status effects, and only attack when the player attacks first. Though they'd be slower, but cover a bigger area of attack.
1:53 The shadow figures people see are a manifestation of the dreamscape. I both partook in dreamlab research on lucid dreaming and later dealt with insomnia during the lockdowns as my sleep apnea coupled with the breathing issues kept me up for five days straight. I was seeing this I knew were real, my skin felt like it was crawling, and my eyes ached. I did chase one entity I saw with a knife though. Thing is, it turn and fled out a window screaming. Turned out a guy had broken in, was in the hallway of my parents’ addition to the house, having just entered, just to see a deranged Italian with a knife wearing a tanktop and pajama pants charging at him swiping in front of him. I had closed the window as I felt cold, not realizing at the time what happened, then passed out right there. Woke up a day later feeling rested once more, but very weak.
