FINALLY! Instructions that show clear closeups of the relevant parts and adjustment! I have looked at SO many bifold door instructions that never show closeups of what is actually being done. Well done and THANKS!
These things were the bane of my existence when I worked in apartment maintenance. Now I work commercial maintenance which is way less stress. I really could have used this info back then. Either way good video.
I spent almost 2 hours messing with mine when I moved into my cabin. It was worse than these because they are glass mirrors and super heavy!
thank you for your brief but clear, precise tutorial, I really agree that as a rental unit, the tenants and bi-fold doors are always in this epic battle fighting, you read all the landlords' mind, I really appriciate.
Thanks!
Presently dealing with the same problem. Watched the 2nd video. Didn’t know about bracket. Great info. Totally enjoy watching your videos. I’m a diy guy but always pick up points from you. My laundry room doors are double( hollow core )doors with metal ball holds on top. The balls wore out so I replaced the balls with a wine cork and they work perfectly. Keep up the great content.
Sorry but it’s a pet peeve of mine. Those are self DRILLING screws. Tapped screws refers to machine screws. I used to refer to them wrong also til someone corrected me. I am a sub and watch all the time and you have showed me some great tips. I’ve been in the business almost 40 years. Thanks!

Interesting view on tapping but I disagree. Screws used to hang drywall are not called self tapping drywall screws. A tap and die and not used on wood to create 24 or 32 threads per inch
Google says: “All self-drilling screws are also self-tapping screws. But all self-tappers are not self-drillers. “
Just an observation..and having dealt with a lot of bifolds, both wood and metal..., by using that #12 self tapping 'lag' screw to stop the bracket from moving outward doesn't prevent it from moving inward, towards the frame/jamb...so there will still be movement back and forth. another I've had to resort to, is use a wood screw to replace the setting screw of the bracket to a fixed position so that the bracket does not move either way. Not ideal, but works. Then again, one could always change out a track with new bracket and reset it all. Bifolds are the easiest of doors to adjust in my xperience. If the track is wonky at the end by the bracket, you can always squeeze the 'fins' together some, with adjustable pliers.. .....Kudos for the tips...!!
That is a good idea too. Now I will have two options to fix my friends bifold door.
this was very helpful, a quick 5-min fix. thank you!
Well done. These bi-fold doors became very expensive to replace. Some you have to special order. Thank you for sharing
Got out of bed @ 10:30pm to try the first screw tightening fix and voila! A two year aggravation fixed in 2 mins. 😂 THANK YOU!!
You bet 🙌
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed. I tried option #1 first and it worked like a charm! Final score: Me 1, bifold door 0
Option 2. A “why didn’t I think of that” moment. Appreciate it.
Thank you - exactly what I am experiencing with tightening the screw just doesn't work . . . it also looks like the screw on my doors are waaayyyy to big.
This video helped a great deal.
But thank you for this detailed information. Discovered my third door this morning falling off. Two of them the same problem where I need to get them back in on the bottom before I can put them back in on the top but these doors are heavy for me and it's hard to see. On one door looks like the top bracket had moved. I need a Mr Fix-It man.
Option #3: Get rid of the bifold doors altogether. I've never had a set work as they should, and I don't think I'm particularly rough on my doors.
Thanks,I fixed mine about 7-8 days ago. I knew what to do,but was putting it off because I am older (68)and not as strong as I once was.
I got a short pry bar to get me some leverage (yes, one had came completely out of the track.
Good info though!!!
The way you demonstrated this was very helpful! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Thank you so much...I had the right idea, but was unsure how to pull it off..The 2nd method is what I had to do..Blessings!!!
This is great info, but I must have older doors because I have completely different brackets. I think I'm finally going to break down and just buy new doors/tracks/everything.
i learn something everyday Thank you. I'm going to fix mine right now.
Can I please 🙏 just get Scott to come fix all the little projects around my house?😅
Great video! I'm about to tighten the screw on the track. But, I seem to be having a problem with the other side of the track! That piece that holds (up) the bi-fold door into the track is very loose! Any suggestions on tightening that so it's "up" & more flush w/the track so our door doesn't keep getting stuff upon opening & closing?? Thanks so much!

Interesting.
Just to be clear, you're not putting the sheet metal screw THROUGH the bracket, you're putting the sheet metal screw through the track, in front of the brack, blocking it so the bracket cannot slide beyond its proper location, yes?
I'm having this issue now (for three hundredth time) and have long thought of a very similar approach, the only difference being to remove the set screw and drive the sheet metal screw into the frame through the hole intended for the set screw.
Do you see any disadvantages of that approach compared to what you've shown here?
Excellent. Wish I'd known this before I decided to try and open the door and instead bent the bracket to the point that it has now scraped the wood and is completely stuck.😅
Hello there! Nice demonstration on fixing the pivot! I have a question: I've had taller carpet installed and now our bi fold closet doors don't work. Initially I thought I'd have to trim the bottoms off the doors. But after more consideration I'm thinking it's the TOP of the doors that need trimming since I can screw out the adjustable bottom pivot. Any thoughts about that?
Hello, good video, could you please tell me how can I find this bifold door pivot. is it different right? it has a square PVC part. I will really appreciate your help.
We just encountered this issue last week at my in laws home. In our case, the track had been spread apart too much. We just changed out the track.
Thank you! That was very helpful!
I’m having this issue currently. the metal is lifted. How do I fix this?
I fixed it thanks man ❤
Can you show what to do when 4x4 box sits behind about a 1/2in thick sheet rock and face plate dont reach or sit becuse of pulg being countersink....(not using mudplate)
All awesome ideas for us landlords. Tenants can be brutal.
Would you know if it’s the same for sliding doors?!
Are all doors the same? My bifold door are mirrors and I don't want to break them. Thanks!
Please help me I can’t figure out how to attach the bottom piece of the bifold door because the holes for the bracket are messed up and big holes I think so I don’t know how to attach the bracket piece
Man i fought with these types of door for years. Finally got it fixes last year. Most annoying closet doors ever. Lol
Thanks for the video
Any ideas on the other side popping out the track over and over with the roller.
make sure the channel isn't deformed or twisted in a way to let go of the roller
If the top roller keeps popping out, your may have to raise the height of your door (or doors to match), or adjust the tilt outwards or upwards from either the top pivot or bottom anchor pivot. Bifolds are adjustable in 4 different ways. Up and down or side to side...Takes some finessing, but if the opening is plumb and square ...it'll work out.. - Good luck.
@@jatco84 thanks brother. I got some finagling to do.
@@tylerwatt12 thanks for the help
Where did he hit the door at. The camera was on the latch side
Would if you cant even get the door open?
Same here!
The spring in the upper track part is gone on my doors. ( I don't have a roller thing in the upper track. Just a spring)
Great info. 👍
I fixed this problem by paying a guy to remove them and I hung up a curtain in front of the closet.
@@Kevin-mp5of thanks, I thought I had the best answer too ! And the curtains look good
I did the same thing😂!!
@@ginas.4266 you did? I think it’s the best solution and I love that it’s so easy to get into my clothing closet now. I hope you love your curtains too!
How much did he charge ?
@@natalied662 it’s hard to say. I know how much I paid my superb of course. But he did more- he removed large and heavy sliding doors, added more shelves for me and lowered one hanging rod. He also installed a curtain rod for me in that closet and hung up the curtains for me. Altogether I paid him $250 for that. He did a good job though. I really love the closet now. And I’ve got shelves for all my purses in there now.
I particularly like those doors because they come loose not a good idea! Because of the wear and tear from the last people that lived in this house! They damaged just everything in this house! Sad but true! 😮
I know all about this issue.. had it sooo much.. I also know how to fix it.. so here’s a comment for the algorithm.
Always enjoy a landlord complaining about repairing something. Get rid of the cheap ass doors then.
As a maintenance guy for a rental company. I think Bi-Fold doors are horrible. Its a flimsy design. Sliding doors a a better option. I deal with 126 homes and I repair or replace at least one every month.
*_every_* rental I lived in 🤣
I hate it when content creators point to an imaginary video link that they plan on adding, but then they never bother to add that link. And especially when they don't even bother to put the link in the description or a pinned comment later.
That shows a total lack of care and credibility. Personally I'd be embarrassed if I promised something that I never delivered on,it's really unprofessional.
Don't get me wrong I'm not perfect, and I get that sometimes things happen, and of course creating and editing videos is a lot of work. But at the very least, acknowledge the oversight. This video is 11 months old, and I see no link to the promised video.
Young Aaron Rodgers ?
Throw those bi fold doors out and hang curtains! Curtains never come off the track!!!!
Can’t you just replace that piece that sits in the track?
The by-fold fold doors are a joke because it comes loose!? Including the bracket and it doesn’t stay put so it’s a joke 😮
Why do people always have to plug Amazon, are you being paid for doing it?
@@Kevin-mp5of I am not new, it's just the way some of you plug the ads, kind of non-chalant as if just trying to help where to get what's needed. I don't have anything against making money with commercials, when it's in the open I am willing to hear some of them. it's called transparency.
@@Kevin-mp5of ? 😂😜
So many help videos out there and people commenting means there is only one conclusion...these doors are all junk. What an awful design.
worst cameraman at the first half...details not in shot!
