Sir, when placing a recommended antenna upon a wall, can you use 3M ddouble sided to hold it in place❓️The one i have doesn't have any holes for hooks. Or does the antenna needs to be flush against the wall❓️🧐🤔
@@AntennaMan Well, I guess they arent lying then...but they should have a * next to the mileage rating with a footnote "At 31,000 ft" Wish you had dont that experiment when we were still on Analog. Would have loved to see one station just morph into the next one while you were flying along.
As a former indoor antenna user I can honestly say don’t get one. If you want to actually enjoy you over the air tv expect to spend around $200 to $300 on a good setup minimum and binge watch this channel for what to get. I got the range xperts antenna with a channel master preamp and get over 80 channels. All chosen from the Antenna Man’s reviews. This channel is a godsend.
As a current indoor antenna user, I would say it depends on your location. In my case, I’m about 19 miles from the transmission towers. I messed up my first indoor antenna purchase so I took advantage of Tyler’s consultation service. I did it mainly to support his channel, but he gave a very good recommendation of two antennas. For me, the Channel Master Flatenna was the one I purchased. I easily pick up every channel in my area. If I wanted to pick up the signal of stations that were further away or weaker independent stations, an outdoor antenna would probably work. As with anything, it comes down to location. If I lived further out in the country or had different building materials, then I’d have to go with an outdoor antenna. Basically, it depends. Even with my first indoor antenna mistake (Mohu Leaf), I still spent less than $300 to get OTA channels. In my last condo, I had to install an outdoor antenna in the attic.
No doubt an outdoor antenna is best, but for people who live in an apartment complex, and indoor antenna is their only choice. I mainly review indoor antennas for them. I hope to have some outdoor antenna reviews next month.
The Philips Classic rabbit ears antenna you have on the table behind you works great for me. I have 1 low vhf and 3 high vhf broadcasts in my area and it gets them all. $11.99 on Amazon.
I couldn’t receive channel 44 (METV) with a small RCA indoor passive antenna. So I bought a “Pro HD Antenna” made by GE at Walmart. It is a hybrid log periodic dipole array combinened with dipole. It sits on a mic stand on my kitchen table in my apartment 2nd floor. I have a cheap amplifier installed. The antenna works well at UHF, and I get METV now. But, it doesn’t work very well at VHF. The elements are not long enough for VHF. It’s okay for now because my goal was to get METV with an antenna instead of paying for a streaming service.
Well l have recently purchased 2 items you reccomend. I bought an antenna an the signal booster. An they work great here in Alabama. We received 48 channels, some we not on Comcast either. Thanks.
Hey, Tyler! FYI - Regarding your recent video you did on ATSC 3.0. Cord Cutters News by Luke did a video this morning (I watched it this morning) mentioned the possible demise of it.
OTA ATSC 4.0 open source TV with no OTA DRM encryption should be the future but that will not happen when 3.0 DRM TV stations can steal the USA airways.
Shame they're ruining ATSC 3. I moved from Philly to Albany and I was pleasantly surprised to see no DRM in Albany, NY on ATSC 3 and all major stations (including recently NBC ) on UHF 23. DRM is just too much of a hassle -- always curious on why Albany was the only place I saw with no DRM, but very happy to see it that way. It definitely solves a lot of problems with reception.
I miss the older days before digital where i lived i had a 13ft antenna with rotor and amp mounted 32 ft in the air and often times enjoyed skip i lived east of columbus ohio and once during a heavy weather front i received a ch 2 if i remember it was from san antonio tx it knocked ch 2 dayton off air in my reception for about a week i had also received other stations from out west over a peroid of time with this system
If you're looking for something a bit different to review, the RCA 860e looks interesting. Unlike similar compact plasticky antennas, it has both low and high VHF elements (quarter wave). I'm curious how it compares to similar antennas that only have a high vhf element. I am considering it for a travel setup.
I'm glad my videos helped you get better reception. Feel free to give a contribution at the link below as I spend A LOT of time making the videos and responding to these comments: antennamanpa.com/support.html
To improve the low end VHF (3.XX) channels just use aluminum foil! Simple fold up a 2 inch strip of about 6 ply and about the length of the width of the flat antenna. While watching the signal level signal from the TV just slide the aluminum foil from the bottom of the flat antenna toward the top. You fill find a sweet spot by watching the TV’s signal level rise and then firmly tape the foil at that sweet spot. My antenna signal on the low end of the spectrum went from 0 bars to 6 bars on a graft of 10. Good luck.
TYLAR, please excuse me from going off topic here. I am wondering if you are aware of a channel of MR. HOP TO IT. He shows how to make TV antennas. THE one that supposedly I am going to make is the double hoop antenna with reflector. I am wondering if you ever considered testing one of these types ??? The building process is really short and to the point. Nice video too Sir. vf
I purchased an antenna called solid signal. It's 12.5 feet by 8.5 feet. I took down my old 25 pluss years antenna that picked up over 140 channels with probably 4 or five that had low signal strength. I was exited to get this new antenna up since it was twice the size of the old none. Note that I couldn't be more disappointed with the result. I installed the new antenna. I used a signal scanner and reference my televisions to get the best signal strength. Do you believe I got less than half the channels I got with my old antenna.😢😮 I'm so disappointed man. I thought because it was way larger I would get a better signal. Nope the gain was supper low. The channels that were picked up had low to no signal. I had to put mynold antenna back up above the old one getting most of my channels back with good signal strength for 75 to 100 o. Most channels. 🤔🤔🤔 Have you heard if anyone else has experience this issue and if so can you make a video and or reply with suggestions
There are few good antenna under $20, and no great ones. Those really close to the broadcast towers might get lucky. I was able to build a Gray-Hoverman model from plans. That cost me very little, but getting it set up took many hours.
I think that you should review yearly the top 5 outdoor, and the top 5 Indoor antennas. That way we can get through all the crap out there, probably at the end of each year.
There was a recent video by LGR where Clint stated that he never rated the reception quality of digital TV while testing a TV/FM/capture dongle with an indoor antenna similar in appearance to this one. Despite being in a rural area with poor reception indoors. The second I saw that antenna I knew he would have problems.
I am wondering if you have seen any companies that adjusted the design of their antennas after the FCC eliminated the upper part of the UHF band. I know that the dimensions of antennas are designed to place the highest gain somewhere in the middle of the TV band. Particularly with Yaggi antennas, which are fairly narrowband, the gain is significantly lower at the upper and lower ends of the UHF TV band. If the antennas were redesigned for the middle of what is the "new" UHF TV band, the gain would be more evenly distributed. Of course this would make them larger, which may be why they haven't redesigned them.
where can i find how to put 3 tv's on one Omni-directional HD TV Digital 4K Amplified Outdoor TV Antenna, the one with the little power box you put in the cable.can i hook it to 3 tv's and make it work? or do i nee a power box for each tv.

My TV has a signal meter, but it's not on the channel info display where it should be, it's buried deep in the settings under help/diagnosis menu. You have to go to a channel, go into the help/diagnostic menu, and scroll all the way down to the signal diagnostic screen to view the signal strength , if you want to test another channel you have to back all the way out change the channel and go back into the help/diagnostic menu and to the signal diagnostic screen. It's cumbersome to say the least.
Hey Tyler! I just found your old channel while going through analog tv shutdown's. I found yours of WNEP and clicked the channel. If you don't know what channel i'm referring too it's idkx08.
Have you or what is your geelung on the philips eleate amplified antenna? I have one and im picking up 11 channels! And im 1.5 miles from two phone channels! Would a 4/5 g filter be a good idea ?
After buying several of these types of flat antennas & rabbits' ears I give up some costing $80 I hired a pro had installed one paid $110 even with that many of the channels fade in and out due to the neighbors' trees. Another thing some of my local channels have a weak signal But since I do not watch a lot of OTA TV but the Mrs. does I really not that concerned. Many of these same channels can be watch via online or with a paid subscription. Friendly has over 60+ channels for $6.99 Me thinks the days of OTA will be a thing of the past soon. With more and more people being able to get HSI & fiber optics & in some cases for free based on income.
What type of indoor antenna I need to pick up a station that broadcast in Hi-V? I can pick up all my local channels except the one I want. After some research, I found out they broadcast over Hi-V? I have the Channel Master Flatenna Ultra-Thin Indoor TV Antenna 35 Mile Range and it does a good job, just can't pick up Hi-V????
My problem is that I am surrounded by TV broadcasters, so any directional antenna would need an electric rotator to pick up all the channels. I have a 25 - 1200 MHz discone antenna with a 50 Ohm output. I know I’ll lose a few dB due to the 50/75 Ohm mismatch, but my thought is that and the loss in the 75 Ohm cable will be more than made up for by getting the antenna up on top of the roof. The discone has no gain because it is omnidirectional pattern.
In urban areas, the "range" is a bogus spec. I live 10 miles from the tower and reception is always getting knocked out by signal reflection - what used to give you 'ghosts' with analog but just kills digital. I look for something more directional with a narrow lobe. Not sure what the spec is called.
Amazon has a lot of those generic flat antennas for under $20 and some are under $10. Tyler should test 1 every few weeks, I'm sure most of them are junk but is there a hidden diamond?
If i install a traditional outdoor antenna inside my attic, (like the shot of the one in the attic Tyler briefly shows in the video) do I still have to ground it like I would if i installed it outside on my roof?
As someone who once had my dad install a roof antenna cutting corners by getting amateur installers on the cheap and having lightning hit it once, grounding is free. A new roof or house is not. :) So, yes. Ground. What would it hurt if you did?
My dad moved to north east Arkansas looking for something to help him out ,internet was a disaster never working so he canceled it ,I’m looking for something so he can watch tv so I’m going down a rabbit hole any suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Thanks!
You would not want a 250-mile range! All that could get you signals of that distance would be stratospheric jump, which in the old days allowed me to watch KTRK-TV (13 in Houston) after the Dallas PBS channel (13) had shut down at night. But if you did get channels from 250 miles away and lived in a rural area far from a giant city, you might get the gory urban crime stories of giant cities; if you lived in a giant city you would get irrelevant, often farm-related news from smaller commnities. You would also get unwelcome ghosts. If you live near Columbus, Ohio you would not only get the local NBC affiliate on channel 4, but also traces of the NBC affiliate of Detroit, the ABC affiliate of Pittsburgh, and the CBS affiliate of Indianapolis, all of which are on channel 4. If you are near Columbus, then ABC-6 and CBS-10 from Columbus are more useful.
one strange thing i have is with my NBC and ABC affiliate, while my ABC is rf 10 and my NBC is rf 8, the NBC also broadcast 32 (I belive) I'm unsure about the 32 but I do know the rf 8 one is in Lancaster, and the 32 one is in harrasburg, I'm more near harrasburg, but I pick up the one in Lancaster, if anyone knows whats going on, that would be nice, the NBC is WGAL and the ABC is WHTM (ABC 27). while sometimes I have trouble getting abc.
Still getting lots of football on my antenna. I do think i might have inference from 5G . But interference is not all the time. Its kinda random. Go Tyler U-matter 🇺🇲
If you live in an apartment, the most you can do is try a decent indoor antenna like the ClearStream 2V or Channel Master FLATenna and use a signal meter as a guide to try it in different locations. See video below for more info: th-cam.com/video/1_Cy08x5qeY/w-d-xo.html
Probably wouldn't make for a good video, but you should just get a 55 gallon Rubbermaid trash barrel and use it within the first 3 or so seconds. ASMR shorts. I'd watch them.
Too bad this antenna is semi useful,I think the name that sounds like kickable would have been an awesome demonstration of a cheap antenna as Tyler punted it out the window.
Break it. *Break it!* _No break it?_ That's OK... not much to break LOL PS I can't stand all the heavily-embellished Shopped pictures on Amazon product (some ebay sellers do it too)
Some of the very ads on even your channel that YT puts on plainly lie! Some even try to tell you that you can pick up hundreds of channels and every cable channel too! That should be illegal. I know you try hard but sometimes I wonder why you even try to review such cheap products.

I like how Tyler’s expression in review thumbnails always telegraphs the verdict. But i watched this one anyway just for yuks 😂
Maybe the fine print talks about the helium balloon you will need to get the altitude to get the 250 mile range 😂😂😂
made me chuckle..
Better than ASTC 3.0
The IIS (International Space Station) is around that height too.
The Chinese junk isn't even translated by the big online sellers.
But Tyler, they tested it at 8am over flat terrain during a tropo duct, and locked a station 250 mi away for 5 seconds
Either that or on an airplane! Not sure if you saw this video I made a few years back or not: th-cam.com/video/azoElRu8ERU/w-d-xo.html

Has anyone compared a DIY bowtie antenna to the channel master flattena?
Tyler needs to view all the antennas on TEMU, he will die laughing because several claim 5600 miles!! And others more than 500 miles🤨🤣🤣
Still getting lots of football on my antenna. I do think i might have inference from 5G .
But interference is not all the time. Its kinda random.
Go Tyler U-matter 🇺🇲
what if you live on apartment building?
If you're lucky, a window facing direction of broadcast towers, should work.
A rubber Ping Ding Bong. What’s new?😂😂😂😂😂
Probably wouldn't make for a good video, but you should just get a 55 gallon Rubbermaid trash barrel and use it within the first 3 or so seconds. ASMR shorts. I'd watch them.
250mi radius is that too optimistic, I think will fail as any indoor antenna
The range claims assume flat earth or peak to peak reception.
2:22 or it could be marketed to flat earthers
People will always buy a flat antenna, Because many flat antenna brands look similar.
So long as it's got HD then it's good enough for me!
Any TV antenna does HD.
No TV antenna will do the USA any good until we like what's being broadcast and how it's being transmitted. Bring back NTSC.
I'm sure rabbit ears would work far better.
❤❤❤
No indoor antenna works inside a mobile
Home. They are a big Faraday cage.
Forward Slash ?????????? ♠Mr.G..
How much insurance cost on mint mobile cell phone
plan?
Too bad this antenna is semi useful,I think the name that sounds like kickable would have been an awesome demonstration of a cheap antenna as Tyler punted it out the window.
KiKiple, what a bizarre name.
If you only have $20.00, you have a bigger problem than needing an antenna. You probably cannot be on TH-cam.
Break it. *Break it!* _No break it?_ That's OK... not much to break LOL
PS I can't stand all the heavily-embellished Shopped pictures on Amazon product (some ebay sellers do it too)
250MI ??? 😂
Some of the very ads on even your channel that YT puts on plainly lie! Some even try to tell you that you can pick up hundreds of channels and every cable channel too! That should be illegal.
I know you try hard but sometimes I wonder why you even try to review such cheap products.
