    i love how they describe goldfish as a “good little bar snack” or great with a beer, considering in America they’re like our most common school snack everyone remembers from elementary school 😂

      Goldfish are definitely eaten by kids more because of their shape, cheeze-its are the adult version of goldfish by goldfish are the slightly less salty version if cheese-its

    • @aztec9651

    • @dondikahm191
      @dondikahm191 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      yes definitely more healthy version of cheeze its which is why they are given to kids...to
      Benson M. there is a fine line between toddlers and rich old men... they are both bald, easily entertained, and have to eat healthy. and to Kyle Smith they taste different due to the lack of salt....thanks for the agrees lol

      Goldfish, the multi-purpose snack.
      Yes, they are good snacks for toddlers and children due to their size and fun shape but they also make great bar snacks due to their mild flavor, slight saltiness and, again, small size. They are also a good alternative to popcorn on DVR and chill nights.

    This was a blast! I will tell you that a lot of the candy was much better when first made, decades or more ago, and because of cost/profit, increasingly crappy--but still had a nostalgic loyal following. Hershey's chocolate was once creamy and now is like wax. This had led to the enormous popularity of artisan chocolate by small makers. TootsiRolls were once rich and chocolately. Tasti-Cakes used to be made with real butter and replaced every day in the store. Shipping long distances in America, with shelf life problems and spoilage changed things a lot, too.

    Something interesting about mystery flavors. This is true for DumDums (small lollipops). The mystery flavor is made by mixing 2 flavors. They make the candy in big drums and when they switch flavors, there is a bit of the last flavor still in the drum when they add the next flavor. So it mixers and they call it a mystery flavor. By the 2nd batch of the new flavor, the flavor is consistent again. I would venture to guess the Air heads are the same way.

    Tootsie rolls are really good, if you get the right size. For some reason, in my experience, the bigger the tootsie roll, the worse it is. In Britain that sweet, fiery cinnamon flavour's not actually that unusual. My favourite sweeties as a child were Cinnamon Fireballs. Basically a round spicy cinnamon sweet. Bright red. I imagine almost the same as those Hot Tamales without the chewy texture. We also have Red Aftershock and Goldschlager. I'm aware neither are food, but both are very easily accessible and commonplace. I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting too.

    Sixlets & Zero candy bar, yum! US candy/sweets flavor has been ruined by their replacing sugar with high fructose corn syrup.

    I've watched the more recent videos and it made me laugh how you're amazed there are 18 products to try in this video, but the others have had SOOOO much more.. oh how the times have changed haha. Do love the videos, keeping me sane in lockdown and making me want all the worldwide goodies and treats. Thank you Kate & Alex - and the odd family member and pet that sometimes do a cameo :)

    Too bad you couldn't have had Hostess the way it used to be. They taste nothing like they did at least 30 years ago, they was so much better. The same is true on a lot of the candies, the company's think they are improving them, but I fact they aren't. In a better note, loved watching your reactions to the snacks and the candies

      They're improving them in the sense of making the profit margin larger, I figure.

    Mexican/American here and I have to agree that your accent was perfect! As for Hot Tamales... they are way too sweet. I don't intend to speak on behalf of all Mexicans but I would say Mexican candies tend to incorporate sour with spicy vs sweet with spicy.

      I think of the plums covered in chili & something sour on them or maybe the plums were just sour? Use to love eating those when I was younger. Now I can't eat very spicy things :( When going to my favourite Mexican restaurant They use to sell What seemed like sweetened Sweet Potato. LOVED that stuff. If you're ever in Whittier California stop by Mr Bigs! AMAZING FOOD there. It use to be called Los Sanchez but I think when the kids took over from the parents they changed the name. That's just a guess. Not let the name full you! I took a friends teen with me who happened to Mexican American and he got the Chili Colorado and he said it tasted like what his grandma makes! Can't wait until I am there again to get some of my favourite food! YUM YUM
