@@Recon77 the prop shaft is a different length. The two drive shaft can be reused but for the 330 6spd there is a stronger type of shaft. They came up for sale near me so I bought those too but I think that you can do without that upgrade. The 330 5spd manual uses the same drive shafts.
@@fransb8543 ok I did pull the whole drive shaft from the 6 speed car with the transmission, good to know. Mines a automatic. I guess now I need to see if the mounting is the same to the differential between the auto shaft and the 6 speed shaft. As long as it is I’m good to go. Ty for the reply and the help.
@@Recon77 the flanges on the diff are different but they pop out and swap over very easily. Sometimes the drive shafts can be a nightmare to get out of the hub. I had to replace one entire swing arm because the shaft didn't come out, not even with a hydraulic press. If yours does't come out easily, I would advise to just swap over the diff flanges from your auto diff on to your new diff and keep the original shafts in place. If you start using brute force you'll damage your bearings. Oh yes one more important point: if you change the drive shaft to the specific six speed manual ones, you'll need different, deeper ABS sensors because the diameter of the new shaft is smaller. Took me a few hours to figure that out. Good luck!
Send reverse signal to pin 4 on your cluster. Cluster turns them on. Its the black connector on the low ike cluster. Low ike has one black 26 pin. One white 26 pin. (Low ike Cluster with car diagram /reset button on the left)

Check your brake pedal switch I just fixed mine while the car is on pull the brake pedal switch away from the pedal and unplug it then plug it back in and put it in but not all the way you want it out as far as possible for it to calibrate the none compressed position once you let it sit for a minute push it all the way in and your brake lights should go off mine did

might be worth noting if the pedal comes from a junkyard or an older car the bushings may need to be replaced, probably easier off the car while you're doing this. the clutch pedal can develop this weird feeling of play in it. (speaking from experience owning a 1998 production year manual e46) anyway great vids, these are solid for the community.

Is it different for SMG to Manual? I have the later style clutch switch but no wiring. The 1st owner did the swap but he didnt bother about cruise control. I really dont want to cut wires and tap into the ECU, is there a way around it?
Do need you need to switch out auto accelerator pedal w/module or can you leave it alone and use it? In your video you mentioned there is a kickdown switch...is that an issue?
We disassembled an automatic pedal the other day. The "kickdown" is nothing more than a little round ball-like gizmo that provides the "pop" when you floor it. It does nothing, and can be removed if you wish, thus resulting in a "manual" pedal assembly.

I'm not sure if I'm post in the right place but, I have a 2005 M3 e46, just finished a swap from an SMG transmission to a manual. I have an issue where the car idles really low, when I put the car in neutral and stepping on the brakes to slow down, the car stalls out. I just cleaned the ITBs and replaced ICV and the MAF sensor? It seems to be better, but it didn't fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Hoping someone can give some assistance testing the blue switch, I've connected pin 3 to 12v, pin1 to gnd and I'm trying to measure pin2 with a multimeter but I'm only ever seeing 12v on pin2, it never changes when moving the plunger. Any thoughts on whether I'm testing the switch correctly?
it seems you have a clutch switch from a car which starts whitout pressing the clutch, thats standart coding on euro cars. You can code your car like this and you wont need the 4th pin or you plug in another pin for the ews and have to start your car with a pressed clutch pedal.
@@janschneider9125 Yes it is exactly like you say exept switch that i have doesnt have pin for EWS, but car does start, diagnostic tool showed me that it recognises that clutch is depresed or released so I am happy. So conclusion is you wire it like old style exept you dont have/need second switch for EWS (on my pedal assembly there wasnt even preperation for second switch) and if you cant start car, just run 12V from brake switch to EWS and you should be good.

I manual swapped my E39 a long time ago and never put in a clutch switch. After taking a 1600 mile trip without cruise control, I definitely want to install a clutch switch to get the cruise working again lmfao. My car is EWS deleted, do I simply leave that wire disconnected?

(I realize this is 4 years later and probably useless at this point but...) You probably don't need any of the clutch wiring. It is for startup and cruise control which you probably will disable being a racecar.
50sKid alright cheers mate! I have the clutch switch module for the master cylinder and the clutch switch here and according to the fanatics thread they were both used. But I also saw that there is only one clutch switch in the wiring diagram. Anyway thank you a lot!
50sKid Yes it will. I've done about 10 e46 manual swaps and just went into the ews module and swap it from auto to manual. You can also do the same on the e39.

I removed intake manifold and starter was hung up on locating pin...maybe 1/2 inch from being flushed...loosened bolts then used hammer to force starter onto pin and rebolted to trans and now all good...PS used original starter no need to change....
I am about done with this swap, but in a track car. I am not wiring in the clutch switch, just bypassing it. I have pinned in a wire to A60004 Pin 23, but I am lost on if the switch is sending 12v or Ground as the signal. I tried 12v per some internet threads, but still no crank. in fact my power probe is showing 10.4v coming out of the DME on the wire I added. Does something need done to the auto body harness to close the park switch or something?

When you did yours did you just use the shaft of the drive shaft with your current car? I’m about to do this with a 6 speed

Yea I forgot to post an update, the sensor for the brake pedal was not adjusted properly. Everything works now!

My E46s clutch pedal was too high, I just can't slide my feet from rest pedal to it smoothly . Is there anyway I can fix that problem?

With the reverse light wiring; does the polarity of the wires matter? My reverse harness has a brown wire and a gray with purple.

There is no polarity on a switch. A switch just closes the contact and makes a connection, so wire one side to ground and the other to that relay.

FCP Euro sells the bmw specific ones. Lookalikes are available on Mouser Electronics for cheaper

Without clutch switches you will have Rev hang when you shift gears ( dme needs to see clutch switch)
