    I'm sure you've heard of it before but I have a 10-gallon fish tank I put on its side that I put my grinder in and it's life-changing! I love that I can look right above the grinder and I use a rag on the fish tank opening to minimize even more gunk getting on me.

  • @michaelbaillargeon3308
    @michaelbaillargeon3308 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I do have the foil caddy, and you were correct that it is better just to have 1 roll of foil on the table, the problem is the roll tends to unwind before you start to pull on the amount of foil that you need. I have seen the foil machine at stained glass express and it is definitely an asset to have in your studio.

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I love the caddy, used it all day today! And the machine is cool, but I'm still resistant. I foiled all morning with my hands and am still at the "my hands are better" place. I think its really cool, but maybe just need to learn to get real quick on it, to feel even better about it!

    Thank you for doing these videos. I've been ignoring that rolling burnisher for months because markers or popsicle sticks work fine. But I have to admit I've eyeball Ed it several times. That is also the first foiler I've seen that I actually like. I can't wait (although I guess I have to lol) to see tomorrow's video. I've been contemplating the foil dispenser purely for holding my foil, but I have a tray that holds most of my tools (studio pro, green, not sure it's name) that I don't really like. The foil doesn't fit well in the dispenser. I'm gonna stop rambling now. Thanks again for the videos!

  • @akmartinez419
    @akmartinez419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Not a bad idea for the shield, wish I would have seen that before I dropped $60 on the waffle shield thing that you can also use to cut on (can’t remember the name right now). It is 6 panels and I love it for the tiny grinder, but my hubby got me the Taurus ring saw (I became infatuated when I saw your review of it) and the ring saw extends past the bottom tray. The only down side I see of this shield is that I find the Taurus can spread water around, especially to the front when it rolls off the glass where is accumulated during cutting. Can’t wait for the second video!

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not bad at all. I will say, especially for things like our taurus or the convertible grinder, the shield just isn't tall enough. If I was really trying to catch that glass mud and water I would still use my original storage container bin. It held very well. I will also let you know, between me and you, gryphon is sending me over there ring saw, so we'll be able to test out the mess on that one as well!

    • @akmartinez419
      @akmartinez419 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can’t wait to see that one. The Taurus was a big purchase but it has made it so much easier to do things. With my migraines, my work time is limited to when I feel well enough. The ring saw really cuts down on the grinding and cutting time, I am so appreciative of my gift. I already cut out some grape vines for a new garden brick and I was in love, so quick the water shed is the only downfall but I’ll love with it.

    • @MakenzieHallie
      @MakenzieHallie  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely, there is nothing like having a ring saw for those random hard times its needed. I love it so much. Feels like cheating its so easy!! Lol!!

    Hi Makenzie!,
    I was just curious after trying the Morton Splash Guard have you considered using a small aquarium to put your grinder in? I read somewhere or was given this tip by a stained glass teacher. I believe it's a 15 to 20 gal aquarium and it works great. It keeps the glass grindings enclosed until you're ready to clean up your space. You also get the benefit of the side of your aquarium bneing a face /splash shield from anything popping out at you. The aquarium keeps everything contained (splash water, bits of glass, grinding glass residue) when you are ready to clean your space pull the grinder out, take aquarium to large sink spray out maybe use a little soap (Dawn) and your ready for new products/projects. Like to hear your stories of your adventures in stain glass for I too am a self taught artist who has been given some pointers from a college stained art professor. I thought the suggestion might be of benefit. Can't hurt to share and it might help you if you choose to read my little statement. Thank you for sharing on TH-cam! Kevin Graham , Yuma AZ
