Wow, I'm actually impressed by how easily the cutters mate works! I'm loving the fact that you're testing out different items for us to be able to make a decision on. I also love that you're a badass girlie girl with your Christmas and Easter decor. Bring it on! Love to get ideas! Love your channel and enthusiasm!
Hi Thanks for your honesty and for the demo. I've been working glass for about 20 years and carpal tunnel has ruined my ability to work glass and anything really that involves close up work. It has really put a shadow on my creativity. I will go out and buy one of these and hopefully I will be able to do glass again, certainly not the 3 stores and 15 craft fairs I used to do, but my love is back. Love your tats and nails. Your nails also convinced me that glass is possible. When I have carpal tunnel problems, I can't even write. I'm older now, and you are very right to protect your hands. Thank you so much. People who don't do crafts, don't understand how they can take a toll on your body.
I couldn't stop thinking about this video so came back and watched it again. Just ordered the Cutters Mate Mini Extra and can't wait to get it. THANK YOU for your channel - I always learn so much!!!
Have had cuttersmate for many years. Couldn’t work without it. Their customer service is amazing. They have a small oil well that pops into the grid like the ones shown on the grid. Easy Peasy
I went into class and unpacked the mini cutter, i have been cutting glass for 30 yrs, I LOVE THIS THE BEST THING SINCE THEY SAY BUTTER, LOL cuts smooth glides easy, i cant with to buy one for myself, my students will enjoy using this now since i unpack it in the class room 😊, worth every dollar, only wish i knew about this earlier, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would love to see all your Easter things! Loved your video on the Cutters mate. Great to know there is help out there for those of us who suffer arthritic pain doing our love of stained glass! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Makenzie for all of your tutorials. I am a beginner and watch each of them as I go through each step of the process to make sure I don't miss any steps. Thanks for letting us know the importance of tinning the soldering iron ... I wish I knew that before burning out my first one! Instead of Mr. Splash, I use a grocery store shower curtain liner ($1) and 3M adhesive hooks that are easy to remove and leave no marks on the wall to hang the curtain behind the grinder to protect the wall. It works like a charm in the corner of the room.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR BRAVE ASSEMBLY OF THIS AWESOME CUTTING TOOL . . . YOU ARE WAY SMART AND SELF TAUGHT TOO? YOU DEFINITELY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING . . . 😊
Love your videos ! so on point , indeed very helpful I just open my box , and i was not sure how to attach the arm to the base ( the instructions sheet had no pictures ) im also more of a visual -. But now Voila the video just solved my wonder ! I aggree the weigh of the handle really feel that is quality and how easy the arm move !!!!
I have the larger cutter's mate and absolutely love it too. You use several more waffle grids which creates a larger work area. I'm glad you were able to show it's value to us newbie users to start out this amazing hobby/craft.
Glad to see your review, I was looking at this cutter today and now I have a much better idea of its capability. I'm new to stained glass and no longer a youngster (cough, cough). I can see this tool being very helpful.
😂 totally understand. Tools like these can be super super helpful for those situations or just high pain days as even a younger glass artist like myself. So glad i was able to help. Welcome to the stained glass community!
I purchased a cutters mate a couple of months ago. I got the 16” cutters mate bundle from a stained glass supplier in Maryland USA for $229. I have been a Stainglass hobbyist for about 16 years. I love the cutters mate so much all I did was cut glass for a few weeks then I had to stop and catch up on finishing the pieces!! Easy on the wrists, great control. My cutting immediately got much better because of the correct angle of the cutter and the weighted cutter. I put drops of oil directly into the handle and have had absolutely no problems cutting.
I already do the 3d printer stuff, vinyl cutting, welding and metal fabrication, and wanted to play around with stained glass.. your videos are very helpful, thanks and keep up the good work..
I have mild Asperger's so I rely on instructions for doing anything new. If the instructions aren't logical or correct it can make me feel like a failure. And then I just figure it out the hard way. So it's really great the instructions worked well for you ☺️ I really hope this works out easier on your hands and wrists because I want to see more glass from you every week! Warm wishes to all from soggy Scotland
Absolutely, instructions are everything for me. I don't want to have to search for a youtube video or something with a new product. And thank you!! I think it Absolutely will help my wrists so so much! Thank you for watching!!
Just found you recently Makenzie, your videos are fantastic. I am just starting out and have loved stained glass forever. I suffer with long term pain all over and have had to stop working so seeing your video about the cutters mate this morning (uk time) has given me confidence to jump in and set myself up properly. I am really scared of the soldering process I will probably need a miracle to help out with that, you make it look so easy. Anyway I will keep watching your channel and thank you once again x Billie x
Practice is all it takes! And patience. Remember it takes people years to really master the basics of this craft. There are tons of tools out there to help with the pain that comes along with this art, so try out any and all tools you may think help. I'm so glad your enjoying my videos, thank you so much for watching! Good luck. You can do it!!!
There's a little oil hole that also fits into the waffle grid so easily! You should probably have that so you aren't needing to twist the lid off with your wrists too... every little bit helps 😘
Wow Makenzie thank you soooooo very much, I struggle with a pencil grip scorer I think I may have found the answer and to protect my wrist too sounds perfect. I'm heading to the website now!!! Yes Easter decorations in your home sounds fab...thank you. x
Might be a long shot you’re seeing this but I would like to see your studio/work set up. How you store your glass/scraps and how you discard your shards safely. 37 years ago I started to work with stained glass, had a child and put my glass away. I’m retired now asked psyched to start again and your videos have inspired me. I’m determined to get back into this but also have limited space. I am ordering this glass cutter this week as well! Thank you so much!
Absolutely can do that, the next video will be putting the glass away so you'll see the shelving I have in my office, and how I store it. I have the same thing in my basement you just don't see that!
@@MakenzieHallie how excited I am you replied. I’ll be looking for your next video. Also you referenced the Easter decorations, that’s my favorite for the pastel colors. Did you post a video of the decorations
Of coarse! I try my best to get back to as many comments as I possibly can while my channel is still small. & Oh gosh I don't remember what I said in this video it was so long ago now!!! Lol! If I did it would be right around this one on my video tab. Was I just talking about Easter decor?!
@@MakenzieHallie yes you said you bought a lot of Easter decorations and asked if we would like to see the house all decorated or just show us all the items you purchased. No biggie but Easter Is one of my favorites. Thanks again for your videos and inspiration.
I'm going to buy one for sure. I use the waffle grid and just a small tip for you is you can use one of the square on the waffle to but you glass oil in. I only but a little and when I'm done I put a cotton ball to keep the dirt and dust out. Thank you for sharing this product with us I didn't even know they had that. Stay well and blessing.

Aw bummer! I'm not sure how much sliding your needing, but did you try the back side too? Ive been told folks use both! The cutters mate comes with waffle grids, so if not, you can try then! Lol!!! Thank you so much for watching!!
Hey, I just got a Cutter's Mate. I would highly recommend finding a hand specialist, a surgeon and, see if you would benefit from an endoscopic carpal tunnel release. Tiny little incisions, half inch. They Work. I just retired. I was a CRNA for 37 years. I've seen a million of them and worked with some excellent surgeons. It's about a 45 minute procedure to do both. People have both done at the same time frequently since the recovery time is quite short. You'll be moving your fingers almost immediately without much discomfort. Back to glass in less than a week. Probably good therapy. You're young. Get it done now and quit suffering. Trust me, I was a health care professional.🙂 Now, I'm gonna go try to figure this thing out. Just got mine yesterday. Got the circle and strip cutters, too. I've learned a ton from you. Thanks.
Hey Greg! Thank you for the advice. I am a bit resistant to doctors to be totally frank. I havent had even a check up in well over a decade. Im trying to be more open to the idea of preventative procedures or something like you mentioned. The pain can get quite intense if im not careful, and being only 30 it is scary. I no i need to do this, just need to push myself over the hill and get to a regular doctor first.
I’m totally sold!! Thank you 🙏 I’ve been slowly buying (when I can afford to) supplies to start stain glass art and I reference to your channel every time I need assistance 👌
I’m stunned, I need this! And I haven’t seen you use it yet, I just know I do. Oooh what’s the blue glass for the bat? And do both vids, a haul and tour after
I'm obsessed with your videoooos, I even watched the nail one and now I want to quit my pizza job just so I can start doing my own haaa. Amazing video as alwayyys, I really want one of these cutters now omg.
I've used the Morton Cutting System for 20 years, it's brilliant. I hate cutting on any non waffle surface, bits of sharp glass get everywhere, but with the grid they're mostly kept away from me. If you want to cut straight lines and geometric pieces it's unbeatable. I may look into the cutter's mate for the non straight cutting though as I feel the strength in my hands has decreased over the years. As for Easter, how about making some decorations from glass? You could even make them in your signature "dark" style...bad bunnies and wicked eggs etc :-)
Definitely! I think this tool was made for those who need the extra help with hand strength and stability. It is fantastic, so much fun to, lol!!! Thank you for watching!!!
Would you happen to have an owners manual for your Morton system? I bought mine over 20 yrs ago and no longer have the instructions. Not sure how to use it for anything other than straight lines. I haven’t used it in over 20 yrs too. Not much help on TH-cam for videos other than straight lines. TIA
@@danafree592 I haven't got the instructions I originally had (had a video as well) but I'm getting some extra bits for it in the next month or so and I believe there is an instruction booklet in with the lot. I could copy it for you and email it if you like.
Hey guys! So glad to see everyone helping eachother out, just a heads up, youtube blocks websites, including emails in the comment section most of the time. I'll do my best to keep an eye out for it and approve the comment it if you guys exchange emails here. Other wise just leave a space between the . Com so it doesn't pop as a link if that makes sense!
Thank you for this review. Can I use this cutter for cutting small pieces of stained glass, like small stars one small birds? Or I need something different for this?
😂 I literally just sent a snapchat to my friends, reminding them how much I killed it today. I honestly have no idea how I accomplished it all. Little sleep the last week! 😂 and thank YOU for your support!
Do you still like and use this Cutters Mate Mini as much as you did initially? The price is scaring me a bit but my wrists are hurting daily so I’m seriously considering getting it. Love all your vids. You are the BEST!
I looked into this product a couple months ago and really wanted it. But I kept feeling like I was buying every gadget out there. Since I’m new I wanted everything that might help me reduce scrap. Now I might have to just get it! 😂.
Idk if it would reduce scrap, but it is absolutely amazing! So fun! They sent alot of stuff, only showed a couple in today's video! 🖤 thank you for watching!
I boight this last year after seeing this video and am super happy with it. However, I find it hard to actually see the blade to see where I'm cutting. Any pointers?
I know this video is a year old but, I found out too late that if you ignore Carpal Tunnel issues that it can lead to permanent nerve damage. VERY frustrating for everyone, but super miserable for artists! You can get a simple cortisone shot in each wrist which may be enough to prevent worsening symptoms. ♥️ Thank you for your awesome videos! I’m subbed and have been binging your vids for the last 12 hours or so! 😻
Oh for sure. My issues are already quite bad when I do have those flair up type weeks. I know a few who have had the surgery and say its absolutely amazing. I should look into those shots though if that can be a preventative measure. Im "only" 30 I've got a ways to go that ill need my hands for 😂😂. And thank you!!! Im so glad your enjoying my videos, thank you for being here. ♡
I noticed that the creators website has just the arm available for sale might be helpful for Kathy Manzo who said she had the Beetle Bits so if she has the waffle sheets, maybe this is a solution.
Makenzie you are the BEST teacher!! Question, can you cut straight pieces of glass with the Mini Mate Cutter? I have the Beetle Bits System that does only straight cuts. It is very helpful. Now I think I NEED this Mini Mate too! :-)
Hi Makenzie, Appreciate your videos. The reason Ive been watching all your reviews of cutters is because Im having trouble cutting small curves. Like wings on angels. Then having to grind a lot more then I think I should. Do You think the Cutter Mate Mini would help alleviate this. The Ring Saws would be great but cost too much. As I Am mostly a hobbyist and Still learning.
Have you tried the circle cutter by creative brands? It looks cool but I wonder how well it works. I also can’t see if it could attach to the Cutters Mini Mate. Any thoughts?
Do you recommend this for a beginner. I've been a cabinetmaker for 35 years but never did stain glass. I always had someone else do the glass. I am a massive perfectionist. Do you offer start to finish classes. Yours truly age sixty. Who am I kidding. I'm getting one soon.
Absolutely recommend this for all stages. If your a handman, you can do stained glass. I think that's why it came easy to me. I do not currently offer classes, but its absolutely something I'm working into the future. If that's through patron or here on TH-cam memberships!
Hi Makenzie. Thank you for another beautifully done demo. I've purchased so many items after your demos and will consider this one as well! While I'm here, I have a question for you. I just finished a project yesterday and after I was done with all the steps to complete it, I noticed that the foil on an outside piece (that I had already tinned) is coming loose. It may be a piece that I was foiling and noticed it was off centered so I re positioned it which I will not do again in the future as I think it weakened the adhesive. Do you have any suggestions on how to repair it? I'm really bummed because it came out so beautiful and took so many hours to complete.
Did you build the bead up after just tinning it? And yes, unfortunately if you repeatedly go over the same area of foil, it will melt the foil adhesive and it's no good. If it just a small area that doesn't bare weight, just burnish it down again and build a nice bead up. If the foil is completely loose and has no stick, remove it and start over. So take some wire cutters and start pulling off all the crappy foil. Burnish the open end edges. Rinse it clean, re foil it. Burnish, tin and solder. Hope that helps!
@@MakenzieHallie Wow...I wasn't expecting you to get back to me so quickly!! Gosh I didn't build up the bead after tinning it, I only tinned it. I'm still new at this. I'll cut that small area out and refoil and retin. Do you think I should wipe and clean the outside edges (since I already put a finish on it) and bead the tinned edges. Also I just wanted to mention to you that I use a turkey baster to clean out the water out of my grinder and it just makes life so much easier! Thank you soooo much!
@@MakenzieHallie I'd really appreciate if you could do it! It would be extremely helpful since my hand gets so sore if I cut glass for extended period of time 😩
Yes I do! In my every day life, if I'm cutting many pieces that require straight lines, same shapes, if my carpel tunnel is flaring, etc, are the times I reach for tools like this.
New glass crafter. Been watching for about a month now. So 3 months later do you find yourself still using this? I was surprised you liked it, but super curious if you still do. ❤️
Definitely still use it! It elimates the carpel tunnel forced vacations completely. Definitely not good for a small project or many tint pieces, but if your making full time it's absolutely helpful!
@@MakenzieHallie Have been a beginner for 2 years but my hands can’t cope anymore so this tool may allow me to continue. Why do you say it is not good for a small project and many tint pieces? Small jobs are what I do now. Great video. Thank you.
Definitely! Since I got it for free, I'm not complaining! Happy to have it! Plus, alot of my subs only have very small working spaces, so mini comes first!
Oh yea, I'm doing everything an anything. The braces have completely controlled the numbness thankfully, but its really difficult to work with them on lol!!!
Hi Makenzie, I’m interested to see if your carpal tunnel and wrist pain has settled down after using this for several months. I’m also a carpal tunnel and arthritis sufferer (I’m 58 - so HEAR ME when I say - take care of yourself, or you will pay for it) and I may spring for this as I don’t want pain to interfere with my creative goals.
Wow i need to check out the uk site to see if they ship to Europe. I just started with stained glass, and i tried 3 different cutting tools, a pencil grip cutter with the little wheel, i had a lot of trouble with it, I need to push so hard on even 2mm glass, then i tried the one with the pistol grip, it was easier with that, and a tool with a diamond at the tip that doesn't rotate at all, it was the easiest to score the glass with that. Have you used a diamond cutter before? Do i even have to dip it in oil? 😅 Appreciate all the great advice and tutorials on your channel :) ps. Happy women's day!
@@MakenzieHallie perfect guess I'm buying one so :) I just got my first grinder yesterday so going to re watch your grinder video before I even set it up. I do fused glass :)

And do both vids, a haul and tour after
It's fantastic!! It was so much fun. Thank you for watching!!!
I was also in love with that blue irid for the bat! 😍
hum.. very interesting. I'm just getting started in glass and have noticed new pains in my scoring thumb when drumming. Nice video!
Yeap. Good old carpel tunnel my friend!! Get yourself a brace for when you cut, or one of these cutters mate!
I'm obsessed with your videoooos, I even watched the nail one and now I want to quit my pizza job just so I can start doing my own haaa. Amazing video as alwayyys, I really want one of these cutters now omg.
Thank you so much!! I will always vote follow your dreams!! Just be smart about it and you'll be successful!!
@@MakenzieHallie uv nail light has just been ordered !! :-)
Awesome!!! Good for you gurl, you got this!
love this video! adding this to my list of tools to buy
Awesome!! Thank you for watching!!!
appreciate your videos...good stuff...by all means show us how you decorate for Easter!
Thank you Bill!
this is three years later,,, do you still love this product as much? I would love to know.
Can’t wait to buy it now thank you for the video
@@rcheeks8963 thank you. I would really appreciate that.
I love mine!!
I have esentual tremors in my hands I use the large cutter and it works great for me
That's awesome!!!
Thank you for this review. Can I use this cutter for cutting small pieces of stained glass, like small stars one small birds? Or I need something different for this?
Wow shop open and a video in the same night. Do you ever rest? Thanks for all you do!
😂 I literally just sent a snapchat to my friends, reminding them how much I killed it today. I honestly have no idea how I accomplished it all. Little sleep the last week! 😂 and thank YOU for your support!
Hi Makenzie,
Do you know if that transparent plastic swivle comes in bigger sizes. To make longer cuts? Thx in advance
Great. Job! I just might have to it this on Xmas list. lol
Definitely! Thank you for watching!
Where can I get one?
Thank you! I was wondering if it was worth the money. I’m going to buy one. 🙂
Awesome! I hope you love it!! It's definitely fun!!
You should get the friction buttons. Little rubber dots that sit in the grid. Keeps the glass from sliding on the grid.
Understand the wrist thing. Just had a cortisone interjection in my hand from “stained glass pain.” Treat it early if possible. Thanks for sharing.
Oh jeez. Keep me posted as far as how that helps?!
I have a cutters mate I love it , I have six grids though
Its awesome!!
Do you still like and use this Cutters Mate Mini as much as you did initially? The price is scaring me a bit but my wrists are hurting daily so I’m seriously considering getting it. Love all your vids. You are the BEST!
Fantastic video! Thanks 😊
Thank you for watching!
I love your videos. I can't find the one you did on succulents. I am going to invest in the cutter mate Mini.
Brilliant tool. How small a shape could you cut with it?
Great video, I was wondering if you could do straight cuts with this one you were demoing?
Absolutely! I am going to do a follow up video on this soon, alot of people have many questions on what this thing does and doesn't do!
I love your enthusiasm for it! Hehe 'Holy cowwww!'
😂😂 that's all things glass. And plants/gardening. Lol. Nothing else does it for me.
I looked into this product a couple months ago and really wanted it. But I kept feeling like I was buying every gadget out there. Since I’m new I wanted everything that might help me reduce scrap. Now I might have to just get it! 😂.
I’ve also seen the pieces that you drop into the grids to hold your glass in place. I wonder why they didn’t send you those to try out.
Idk if it would reduce scrap, but it is absolutely amazing! So fun! They sent alot of stuff, only showed a couple in today's video! 🖤 thank you for watching!
Just wondering how you do straight cuts with these? Or is inly curves
Great video!!!
Thank you!!
I went to their website and bought the larger one and let all my FB groups know . Maybe they can give you a discount code for our next orders🙌🏼❤️
Awesome!! So glad you enjoyed it!!! Maybe in the future for sure!
Can the grid be used with traditional cutters? I'm looking for a surface to catch the bits as my dogs are always under foot
Of coarse, that's usually what people cut on. Just buy separate waffle grids!
The waffle grid is what I learned on over 20 yrs ago. Really helps with clean up as the little pieces of glass go into the void.
I boight this last year after seeing this video and am super happy with it. However, I find it hard to actually see the blade to see where I'm cutting. Any pointers?
Hi there which glass y can use make a suncatch I have Oder crystal ball suncatch ok which glass doi use can y help
As a musician I need to protect my hands and wrists for as long as possible. This is definitely going on my need to buy soon list.
Absolutely!
I noticed that the creators website has just the arm available for sale might be helpful for Kathy Manzo who said she had the Beetle Bits so if she has the waffle sheets, maybe this is a solution.
How does the round shapes cuts with that tool?
So it doesn't need to be a continuous score? You can do it in parts? the mini versus regular is there any difference aside from the space?
Здравствуйте Макензи!Какая толщина прозрачных рычагов резака?
I am wondering about strip cutting with this product?
What's your question?!
@@MakenzieHallie I saw making shapes and it looks great. What about straight strips like 1/4”, 1/2” and so on...
@@MakenzieHallie Thank you so much!
Awesome..do you still enjoy this? looks fun :)!!
Yes I do!! And it is fun lol, definitely use it more for those repeating patterns and cuts.
Where do I get a scoring tool for glass like u have----the one with the handle and its small???? tk u k
I'm eyeballing this since a while right now! Do you perhaps know where this could be purchased in Europe?
😩😩 I'm sorry I don't!! Those were direct links from the president of creators brand! I can reach out again and see if he has any ideas at all!!
@@MakenzieHallie I'd really appreciate if you could do it! It would be extremely helpful since my hand gets so sore if I cut glass for extended period of time 😩
Love it! Great job now I will have to go buy another accesory, worth the investment since it's accurate
Absolutely, worth the investment for what you get in return! Thank you for watching
now that you have had it a while, do you still use it?
Yes I do! In my every day life, if I'm cutting many pieces that require straight lines, same shapes, if my carpel tunnel is flaring, etc, are the times I reach for tools like this.
I want to see!!!
I have a cutters mate but it is not the mini variety with six grids
Can you get an ad-on for it? Do they sell extras?
Absolutely, just check out there website! Thank you for watching!
Thank you.
Does USD $220 sound about right for this product?
Can you show how to cut a circle with this
Unless you are only doing small items I would highly recommend you do the full size. Worth the extra $$.
Definitely! Since I got it for free, I'm not complaining! Happy to have it! Plus, alot of my subs only have very small working spaces, so mini comes first!
Are you doing stretches? Do RSI stretches! Artists need to.
I've read that diamond cutters don't need lubrication - I'm interested to hear how you get on!
@@tykeinbrum will report back in a few days
Update plz! Ru still using this?:)

Wish there would be an EU shop for this :o
Really like your videos Makenzie! c:
Are you still using it?
Do you still use this?
Yes. Particularly if I'm making something that requires many pieces of the same shape!
@@MakenzieHallie perfect guess I'm buying one so :) I just got my first grinder yesterday so going to re watch your grinder video before I even set it up. I do fused glass :)
