    I loved this guy and recently watched "The Last Movie Star". Burt was brilliant in it and you see his real conflict, not as an actor, but as a human being. As a character actor he could and would have been one of the all time greatest. "Terms" could have sent him into a different category.

    My mother once told me that she saw him in a play - right after he was in Deliverance (1972). She said it was at The Stranahan Theater, in Toledo Ohio not far from Lansing Michigan where he was born, she thinks the play was The Rainmaker. I very clearly remember her telling me this story decades ago. She said that he was a God onstage, and you just couldn't look away from the man. I believe it.

    • @ChrisMisc1
      @ChrisMisc1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. Most of his films are shit. Boogie Nights was amazing and saved his legacy though. John Wayne made a huge number of brilliant films. John Wayne is more like Clint Eastwood.

    • @coldwinter5710
      @coldwinter5710 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ChrisMisc1 Respectfully disagree. He had many movies/TV shows that were not "critical" sucesses, but were always entertaining & the majority made money. He had many movies that his acting was fabulous, but the films were lesser known or less talked about (Starting Over for example. He should've been nominated for an Oscar). He was nominated for a Golden Globe for Dan August. Evening Shade he won an Emmy & a Golden Globe & was a huge critical success. This IV is spot on by Burt. He didn't use t/power he had in Hollywood properly. He didn't make good film choices (or in wives!). Those poor choices changed the course of his life, negatively. But doesn't mean he was not a talented actor. He was VERY underrated in that dept. But he too should've taken his talent more seriously as others would have followed. He also had some real bad breaks that were no fault of his own. The awful injury in City Heat also chged his life, forever. Hollywood accused him of having AIDS, & refused to cast him in top parts. It was terrible for him.

      He was good man and they were a sweet couple. But when you’ve got two normal all American people who have extraordinary careers and also individually have a lot of personal problems, you’re going to have an intense relationship. He admitted to his faults and said in old age that she was the love of his life.. but he was cruel to her. So she hit the road. I don’t blame her. The man had an ego when he was younger. Who can blame him when you got the world gawking at you. He had a good heart though.

    The lady that who was teaching me stop motion animation had a photo op with Burt Reynolds. No i'm NOT talking about an photo bombing shot with the famous Burt Reynolds, I mean Burt was standing right next to my animated teacher and the photo was sitting in her Animation Studio. I was a kid back then and never asked how did that happen nor did I realize how extremely gorgeous she was. She was also responsible for sneaking me in the first generation Star Trek stage set of Captain James T Kirk deck of the Enterprise. Rest in peace Burt Reynolds.

    The story he told about getting fired at the same time as Clint Eastwood is not true. I don't know why he told this story. Clint was never fired by Universal and neither was Burt. Clint didn't get his contract renewed in the 1950's but Burt was still playing Football in Florida at that time. Rumor is that a tour guide was telling this fable on the Univeral Tour back in the 1970's and Burt heard about it.
