You can freeze the uncooked excess spam. Nuke it 10 seconds and slice a couple thin slices for a english muffin breakfast sandwich. Takes 10 minutes. 2 thin slices Spam cooked crisp, grill buttered muffin, slice a bit cheese, asiago for me, cook egg, break yoke but don't over cook egg, flip with fork, hot honey mustard, just a touch. Assemble. Eat.

A friend of mine who came back from Hawaii gave me a small bag of Spam flavored Macadamia nuts. Who in their right mind would create such stuff? My other Hawaiian friend had made me some Chicken Ramen noodle soup with chopped, green onions and Spam on top! Delicious!

My nephew lives on HI. One year, he came to visit and brought Spam flavored macadamia nuts. I like it. Sometimes, I suck the powder off them and then eat the nuts afterwards.

SPAM SPAM SPAM....fried, baked, broiled and grilled.
I haven't had SPAM in over 40 years. With the food shortages here, time to stock up on the cheap protein.

In Canada, it can run about $3.00 per tin. Not a cheap meal like it use to be. I can buy Maple Leaf Flaked Ham cheaper and it goes on sale quite frequently.

Try this. Top loading hotdog bun, spam, dill pickle, green bell pepper, onion, yellow Kraft American cheese. Top with paprika. Amazing on a fishing trip or just grab out of the refrigerator.

Spam is better than just straight meat. I prefer it over bacon. And yes, it can be used in basically everything. I'm never lower than 3 cans. If I'm down to 3 I start to panic !

    Wonderful Spam.
Fried crispy with fried eggs or in a grill cheese.
Cold in a toasted sandwich with old cheddar cheese.
Fried in a homemade egg McMuffin instead of ham.
Chopped in Kraft dinner or cheese macaroni.
The way Hawaiians serve it looks good but I never tried it that way.
Or sliced cold out of the can.
Better than no meat when it's the only meat you have.

I grew up eating SPAM and loved it with fried rice and eggs. When I got older, I used to slice Spam real thin, fry it crisp, and serve it to my biker buds as "BLT"s and after they wolfed them down and thanked me for some good eats, they'd freak out when I told them it was Spam they just ate so they were "SLT"s they just ate. I laugh when I hear people get all ruffled up at just the mention of SPAM...My thought on that..... "then go ahead and starve"! My buddy used to say it stood for "Some Products Are Meat"..hahahaha). But he said it as he downed his 3rd SLT! I don't eat Spam as much as I did as a kid but when I do, I LOVE IT!!!

Spam is amazing. However, limit your portion size because it is an extremely high sodium food. The salt is used to help with the preservation and to enhance flavor. When using it in dishes, limit other sources of sodium to get a more balanced flavor. A 2 ounce piece of regular Spam has a whopping 790mg of sodium even the reduced salt stuff is 580mg. So, skip salting the rice and let the Spam do the heavy lifting for example.

    • @gardeniagirl1374
      @gardeniagirl1374 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

The regular Spam is too salty, so I prefer the low sodium or Spam lite versions. You can soak it in water prior to cooking it to draw out some of the sodium.

You can put slice spam into a bowl of hot water for a minute this removes most of the salt dry off the slices you'll be surprised how salty the water is

@Femi we have spam on egg sandwiches like over 40 years ago. Bacon was very rare at that time, so ham and spam/luncheon meat were substitute

In Canada I can remember years ago eating Cordon Bleu luncheon meat. It was better tasting and less salty than Spam. I find the generic types of Spam are not very good except for the Walmart Great Value brand.
Also we have Klic and Kam which are awful.
I once found a very unusual part of a pig in Kam.
I have not seen the Cordon Bleu luncheon meat for many years.
They also made very good meatballs and gravy. Then they changed something.
Now it has a terrible liver like taste. Instead of making more profit with cheaper ingredients they lost a customer.
So many products are not good or not available any more.
