I do not even have my boat yet but I know it will come with a Vmax SHO 115 which is basically the same engine with different cam shaft and computer. I have been looking for videos on problem points with this engine and the water pump is near the top as is misfiring on #3 and #4 from fowled plugs and bad diaphragms on the fuel pump from letting it sit too long. Your video has been very helpful for the future. Service centers are expensive as hell and you made the job look simpler than it sounded. I am still 2.5 years out from getting my Stabicraft 1850 but at 50yo I've learned that it's never too early to do your research early and do plenty of it. I have used boats enough to know that things DO wear out and go wrong. If you bury your head in the sand and wait for it to go away, it won't end well. I don't want to be 15-30 miles out in the Gulf and have to get towed back cuz that ain't gonna be cheap OR fun. Subbed
Thank you for watching. I’m glad I was able to help you out. Yes the whole water pump change is not as hard as it sounds. All the maintenance on this engine is easy to diy and save a fortune. I will be adding more videos as I preform more servicing. Good luck with your boat when you eventually get it!!
@@andrewrose7172 Dow corning111 because I have an abundance of it but a light coat of silicone or regular grease works as well. Never tried the dawn but I’d probably stay stick to grease as it won’t wash away a quick as soap
@@xlandscaper Thank you. Also, how do you get the wire on the back of the motor off? Just clip the zip tie and put a new one on? I could not get mine out because of that wire. Thanks
Your guess is as good as mine but it was on there from the factory and I’m sure it serves the most important purpose on the whole engine. Forget to reinstall and it grenades, sets itself on fire but cancels your insurance policy before it does.
Niceeee! I forgot to mention a few key pointers like changing the dowel pins, the pain in the ass woodruff key and when re installing the lower back into the upper to be careful of the water line and make sure to align the shift shaft back up. I love this little boat, it does everything a inshore a fishing boat should!
Thumb up! Thank you for great video, just bought a kit for replacement water pump. (Just bought boat, it had 160 hrs). Cost too much at dealerships.
Glad it helped. DIY and save$$
Use your old impeller to seat the metal ring over the split washer.
Thanks for the tip
That was easy good job
Definitely not too difficult. Save a ton if you DIY. Thanks for watching!!!

Southie?
what kind of grease do you use? For the housing and bolts? I've heard using dawn dish soap works too, every try that?

Great stuff mate.

Thanks for watching over the pond! 💪👍👍👍
What purpose does the ring with plastic bushing serve?

About to do this on a 2000 Parker 18 tomorrow!

What year is your motor?

Use a piece of pipe to seat your metal ring over your plastic split washer.
Will definitely keep that in mind for the next time. Thanks!!
Or the old impeller maybe?
Or a 7/8” closed end wrench and tap with hammer
Good job! New sub. here.
Thank you!!
Do you have to put the shift lever in forward
Shift lever in neutral
