My Experience At Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School

I attended the Super Gas license class at Route 66 Raceway 6/30-7/1, 2016 and it was an incredible experience! This video shows the driving portions of the class, but the lectures were great as well. So many topics were covered: technique and mechanical information about the cars, correct track etiquette (and the deadly reasons why), the physiology of how your eyes work and how to correctly use them (no, I mean it), how your brain processes inputs and outputs and how to convert conscious processes into unconscious ones, and even some psychological and philosophical information about how to prepare for the race in spite of distractions and how to approach problems in a way that builds your team instead of breaking it down. This class was a very exciting experience and also hugely informative. I highly recommend Frank Hawley's Drag Racing School!

Oh no! I was heartbroken for your father. Oh well. Chris, you are blessed with a wonderful Dad that would do that with you. They say the only thing you leave this earth with are your memories and you both surely made some together that weekend. Oh, and great job of narration & editing both son and dad.

I just took the course and the same driver right before me had two engines blow up on him in two consecutive runs in the same car. (One last run of Tuesday. One the first run of Wednesday). They said it’s been five years since they’ve had an engine failure. This video was what they were referring to. One engine was 13 years years old and broke a wrist pin. The other was fresh off the dyno and broke a rocker stud on its first pass. Some people have all the luck....

Did they require you to take a physical since the Level 4 license doesn't require one?

Nope. I probably had to sign that I was in good shape for it, but no physical was required.

I took the course in Florida. What a joke..... my f150 is faster than the junk they put us in. I didn't take much away from there. You either have it or you don't. It's really not something that can be taught. Just my opinion.
