i swear that the raid movies are the best action movies ever made ever.! seriously! no film anywhere in the wold had got this far. not even the new jhon wick and extraction 2. the raid 2 and the night comes for us is just undefeated!
I apologise for any misprounciations of Indonesian terms in advance. Coming from a western perspective, some script errors do rear their ugly heads. Thanks again for your views and support!
The movie does have a story. I was invested in the narrative and the characters. I wouldn't have watched the movie otherwise. I don't like fight porn. If I did, I'd just scower the internet for random fights on camera. It's about the story.
Nice video. You pronounced Pen-chak Silat properly but then how do you mispronounce Iko Uwais? There are no silent letters; that's a French thing (borrowed into English). Your summary of The Raid's story is overly simplified; it wasn't just about out raiding the druglord's apartment building. Rama was a rookie so he didn't have to be there but his brother was a part of the druglord's gang and Rama wanted to save him and made a promise to their father. Rama could have escaped the building after most of his colleagues were killed, yet his whole reason for staying is saving his brother. The Raid 2 is also about family relationships: the two orphaned sibling assassins; the father and son dynamic of Bangun and Uko with the latter betraying the former over power/respect; Prakoso being estranged from his family but paying child-support and wanting a relationship with his son; and Rama going undercover just to keep his family safe and under police protection after his brother is killed.
