Love, love, love your top and fabric choice. I have never sewn rayon challis but, after seeing this top, I think. Need to find some and try this top. Totally understand your lack of sew jo and frustration with weight fluctuation. I think a lot of us are in the same boat so, we understand. Always enjoy your ideas and watching how they come together. You are an inspiration even if it’s just a simple top. Thank you for including us in your sewing journey.

Glad your feeling good about sewing again! Summer vacation does that to us. Can you demonstrate how to make the button loop for the back of a shirt Please. You said something about a crochet loop. Mine never are substantial enough and I end up using the elastic hair ties which do work. Thanks Whitney!

Got my colors done, thanks for the link in your last video. I'm a Copper Autumn. I somewhat knew I was an Autumn from the old Color Me Beautiful books but having the additional 'copper' attribute plus 35 colors to choose from is great. Much of my wardrobe is already in my color range but there are some new colors I'm excited to try, too. I think it's such a value in terms of being able to now spend my money wisely on the right fabric colors and have everything coordinate.

I love that as sleeveless harmony can be made in under a metre of fabric (for the most part - wider widths, I guess!). I make an XL/2XL and it's fun to be able to grab a really bright print poly or silky type woven that catches my eye and make a cute accent top to wear under blazers or cardigans. I wore my neon leopard harmony a ton this summer.

Red really looks very nice on you. I loved the new top. Glad to hear you’re doing & feeling better. I am too but if I’m on my feet I do tire very easily. However ever it’s still nice to be doing things in the sewing room.
Take it easy! You don’t want to over do it! I am glad that you are able to move around and get in the sewing room a bit, though!

I just got it! Did you do a narrow shoulder adjustment & petite adjustment between the bust & shoulders? It's so convenient to have a petite youtuber to watch.
I didn’t have to do a narrow shoulder or petite adjustment on this one. I find that when I can use cup size pieces (or full bust), I don’t have to do either of those adjustments for my body.

I have made a muslin of this from an old bed sheet and dislikes the maternity look of the finished top, but now I realise it just needs more drape. I'll try it again. I made the petal sleeves only because I'd never heard of them before and wanted the chance to learn something new. The linked blog post from memory explained how to draw your own pattern but the petal sleeves was by that time included in the harmony pattern pieces. But nowhere was there an explanation of how to sew them. I still don't know if there's a proper way to overlap then. Back over front? Front over back? I'm so chuffed this week that I'm on holidays in an almost completely me made wardrobe. Despite my fluctuating tummy I'm in comfortable and fitting clothes. And they match by happy accident. Participated in the local marathon today in Pietra shorts (so cool and airy on a very tropical day) and the itch to stitch Prague top. I think I'll try the harmony in rayon but I wish it had a v neck option. Love your videos.
I would definitely try the Harmony in a more drapey fabric. I'm sure it would come across more tent like in a more structured fabric. Oh my god...this top look so lovely on you and yes i agreed with you that having your color done makes it so easier on buying fabric that work with the rest of your capsule wardrobe. Would you have a video on how you finish the bottom of the top with the bidding. Im trying to find it in your videos and not seeing it. Just bought the pattern and will get sewing this weekend. Lovely blouses on you. I did buy the pattern from your site. I do get concerned that swingy tops make one look pregnant even though at this age that would be impossible it still can make us look like we have. Tummy when we don’t. I’m so sorry you are having such a time getting your body back to normal, it sounds so frustrating but I know how you feel. I have major stomach problems (GERD) and IBS. So it really screws up your system, I know yours is different but I feel your pain and frustration.
Btw, are you going back to blond again. I so like the Auburn on you, but whatever makes you happy.
I get nervous about the swingy tops as well, especially since I have a large bust. However, I think in the fabrics with more drape, it works well! I've been wearing this top in pretty heavy rotation!
I don't see myself going blond again. My stylist added just a bit of lightness around my face this time, but I'll be sticking with more my natural color!

Love your tops but I appreciate you stating a couple of times that this is a “woven” top pattern. Third time it sank in. And, I’m so excited about the Everyday Style fall capsule. I’m subbing dark brown for the black bc black just doesn’t look good on me. I’ll be sewing up a storm bc I need almost every top. Have a great weekend!

I want and need new clothing, but with the stay at home I have gained weight. I can't afford to pay for someone to tell me what my colors are perfect for me. I just wish someone with experience would know for my weight, height could tell me what are the best patterns for me to use. I have my me time sitting early morning drinking my coffee to watch you for pattern motivation. I also just love to see what exiting fabric and patterns you bought. Oh and I love the sewing video.
I completely understand that frustration! I’m dressing a different body this Fall as well. While it’s a bit of an investment ($50 or so), the “Dress your Body Shape” class from Everyday Style has been immensely helpful for me!
Do you put in bust darts with the rayon versions? oh I just saw that you did. I haven't made the harmony yet but will now as I need slip ons for everyday wear. I made something recently out of challis with rayon for the yoke - I love love challis now. Feels like heaven to wear.

The trousers I’m wearing are my navy linen Glissandos (Love Notions). I sewed them with a zipper fly and did the elastic in the back (I have a video where I do this to the Glissando shorts).

Sure! I made the size medium with the full bust front. I shortened the bodice by 1” to accommodate my 5’2” height!
I have a question. What is your best recommendation for thread for sewing knits? I have a ton of fabulous aurifil quilting cotton thread but it has occurred to me I need polyester for knits and I don't have a stash of that.
I use Gutermann Mara 100 polyester thread for about 90% of my sewing both knits and wovens. It’s my favorite!
Where does one get their colours done? As I have gotten older, my skin tone has changed, my hair is whiter (was a warm dark brown). I could use some help.
