- Join us as we head to Miramas on one of the windiest days to witness a groundbreaking test of the BMW X3's advanced Emergency Braking system. In this exclusive behind-the-scenes look, we take you onto a closed track where BMW engineers, led by Sebastian Kaps, demonstrate the capabilities of this life-saving technology under challenging conditions.
Watch as the BMW team conducts rigorous testing at speeds of 30 km/h, 50 km/h, and 80 km/h. Discover how the system effectively identifies and reacts to moving targets, pedestrians, static objects, and oncoming traffic, ensuring safety across various scenarios.
Sebastian Kaps shares insights into the philosophy behind the technology-emphasizing the importance of driver involvement during emergency situations and how the system supports the driver by enhancing brake pressure when necessary.
Experience the precision of the BMW X3's emergency braking as it smoothly handles potential collisions and learn about the innovative features such as the quick-activating flashing indicators designed to alert following drivers.
Don’t miss the intense final scenario where the system intelligently determines when not to brake even in extremely close situations, showcasing the advanced object recognition and decision-making capabilities of the BMW X3.

this will be helpful while I scroll through 4 screens to access the air controls
lol.

Say someone that has never sat his foot in a modern BMW.
Glad they're focused on not just making a good AEB system, but one that isn't so damn annoying and is good at knowing when it actually needs to intervene.
And this why I love BMW! ❤ They are like the Apple of cars world. They make new technology and or technology that is already but enhances the the technology for the driver to make there ultimate driving machine! Have been BMW fan since I was kid and saw bmw at distance and now that I am an enthusiast and owner of many of them. They my company of choice 😊
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
With all the touch screens they are adding, they are the ones creating a "distracted driver", hopefully this feature comes standard.
Keep hoping lol.
No fam, just no… I don’t understand why people try so hard to dodge accountability…
Impressive! BMW technology...
( Less screens, more easy to use buttons need to be reintroduced).
Otherwise BMW leading the field.
Hopefully this is a standard feature!!!
Me too
It sounded like it is
The EU is mandating “brake before you hit someone” -this is already standard on recent models. Here they’re upgrading the speeds at which they work at and adding more avoidance . What wasn’t mentioned is whether the base option will add steering as well as braking. Currently you only get that if you order the full driver assistance package-which this demo vehicle seemed to have.
@@SteveLoughran not standard on many cars here in the USA. Glad to see it’s coming globally.
Bring back buttons!
Yeah. Buttons that brake automatically.
My BMW IX has something like this. Or perhaps just as much. My iX1 has emergency braking too but not as much I think.
Yes, the iX has advanced features like this
Wow, a company that does real life tests with metrics instead of using it's drivers as for "beta" testing
This looks really good. Great working safety features with getting in the way in every day driving.
?
@@michaell663 should be... with OUT getting in the way :)
Will be buying a X4M Competition soon. Hope it comes with this feature or as an option.
The current X4M is great
I’ve always wondered how to test some of this, including the prevention of opening doors into bicycles and scooters. We did manage to test our iX1’s “stop for a cyclist coming from the side” feature last week: even if the bike is curving to be riding alongside the car -it sees the bike coming, does the braking and highlights it on the screen. I really hope people on e-scooters don’t start relying on this to always be be available
So, the car stop on its own or does the driver still have to be actively be engaged?
The car stops on its own. But BMW always says the driver is being notified before braking
Level 5???
No
More unnecessary big brother dangerous "technology"
How is this dangerous?
The launch date is quite far
A couple more months
It’s a 2025 shouldn’t be that far away. This fall I hope.
