And that Natalie COULD sing and the other Chicks could play. Excellent band. Wonderful stuff. Thank you Chicks!
Its the Dixie Chicks. Yes. They are good.
“They sound tired, but they don’t sound Haggard; they got money, but they don’t have Cash; they got Jr. but they don’t have Hank, I think, I think” Top 10 best lyric ever written.
It was written by Darrell Scott actually! This is a cover of the original song
Yesss

Sound familiar ☺️
One of my favorites
I'm a metal head, but man back in the early 2000's, that Home album was on my CD rotation constantly. So good. Love the bluegrass aesthetic. So yeah, that's my one CD I have in my collection that people are like "WTF, did a gf or someone leave this here?!", and I'm like no, man, lets listen to it!
Dude same though 😅
Same 👌
I do tend to get a shocked look when my random play goes from Angel Of Death to this. I don't understand the confusion - it's just brilliant music, right?
Same man!
Cause their music is the bomb!
Still my favorite Dixie Chicks song! Natalie...those eyes and that smile. Love her!
She's was hot as hell
The Dixie Chicks still rock.
But then they don't exist anymore. For a group that was open to being offensive to specific groups they decided their name was too offensive, but they still wanted to keep everything they got with that name ...
Ready for the lunch list
I think it's funny how they think Dixie is offensive. But, liberals are a little funny that way
@@johnwayne7290conservatives think dixie’s are offensive…
Definitely !
This band rocked like few others. Absolutely. Thanks Chicks.
Those harmonies at the end still give me goosebumps.
Long Time Gone is definitely one of my favorite songs by the Dixie Chicks. It's sad that they aren't as popular as they used to be. I'm still a fan of theirs to this day.
They would be if the "God and country" crowd hadn't turned on them so savagely.
@@dakelei yeah I know it's sad.
@@dakelei, You got that right, home of the free and land of the brave, but only if you believe in being free in the way we feel brave and pray.
Technically, the song is "by" Darrell Scott, but The Chicks certainly helped popularize the tune. Great song and The Chicks rendition is wonderful.
@@freshfarmster44 Think as I think, do as I say but not as I do.
Heard it about a million times and it still brings me fantastic joy every time
Thank you Lord for the Dixie Chicks ❤
Their voices are just amazing
Natalie's makeup is gorgeous
been in love with her forever!!
It looks like Billy B’s makeup work. I was trying to find out if it was but can’t be sure.
This song and the video looks and sounds like it was made today! I can't believe it was made 18 yrs ago. I love it so much! I remember playing the album so much when it came out. This is one of my favorite songs.
20* years ago, not 18.
I still remember that day, that video was made in Reynosa Tamaulipas México, in a place called EL CENTRAL. I was there .... Long time gone.
Facebook posts about dropping "Dixie" and staying "The Chicks" finally got me to watch this great video -- and "March March," which is terrific and timely. Hope they'll be a long time back. :-)
No !!! Their the GODDAMN DIXIE CHICKS!!!🔪🥃
@@michaelvance1118 It's just a name (that they chose to change themselves), get over it.
@@Notius No they didn't, they were forced into it by a bunch of crybabies.
@@Notius They were forced into it, dummy
One of the best bands around in this style of Music.
That banjo and fiddle rocks....
For sure, but that upright bass really pulls it all together.
Violin is on point.
I don't care what they call themselves now days. They will always be The Dixie Chicks to me.
Back when country music became good and was still country
These gals could sing the phone book.
L❤VE all the neutral color combinations with vibrant pops of Western-Spanish colors in this video! I've always admired the artistry and fashion in this video! Whoever made this video really created a masterpiece music video
Although I like bluegrass and blues I've never been a huge fan of most country music, Dixie Chicks were one of the very few country artists I could stand and listened to them constantly growing up. Finally got to see them in concert this summer, with them sort of fading out years back I wasn't sure if I'd be able to. Had a blast! Hope they continue to make music and are put back on the radio more as I rarely hear them.
The country world kicked them out, they didn´t fade away.
Plume520 Airheart. To their eternal shame!
The country world was wrong.
I'm late to the party here, but have you ever looked into Alison Krauss and Union Station's albums? You may like a few songs from them, too.
The "country world" started dissing its veteran (still able to perform) artists in the late 70's.
The "country world" disliked strong female artists infiltrating their planned milk-toast, cookie-cutter future.
We can blame the Clear Channel Radio corporate assholes for reducing the country airwaves to their repetitive non-stop Top 40 and turning a majority of listeners' minds to mush -- like a bad Pavlov's dog experiment.
Saw you in a Frayser, Memphis restaurant when I was too shy and schizophrenic to talk to you but your beauty has captured my memory ever since. I'm a disabled veteran of the Capt. USAF/ Lt USCG Retired. Thanks for putting heart in your all music.
Underrated legends.
Long time gone, but they're coming back!!!
+Michael Trujillo Thank god to be honest, Country music is a trainwreck now
Yes I hope these girls come back!
Daddy Revan I agree
My hometown reynosa mexico..i love the Dixie chicks
Saw the Chicks last night in Camden, NJ...they were incredible and the show was amazing. If you are a fan and have the chance, catch them live!
I was there too! I saw them at the Arts Center in Holmdel too!
DCX forever! And I'm a Metal Head. Love their no nonsense, non ass kiss, straight up existence... As my newer maxim says... "NEVER MAKE NICE!"
+XxProdigalSonXx Amen!! 😉
Kelly Barlow for
This album was so huge in my life at a time I needed it💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
I get to see these amazing ladies in April 2016 in the UK! Can't wait!

Mainstream country pretty much died when the right turned on these amazing women.
You ain’t kidding turned out they was right all along too
They were right. It's just another sad example, that when you say the truth, you will suffer in some way. I'm so sick of conclusions without facts. It was a knee jerk reaction by the indoctrinated country fans and I'm right leaning myself. Turns out our current system disables positive change because both parties prostitute themselves to the moneymen in equal measure, so Bush's opponent was not the remedy either. A new system is the only answer, not a new Constitution, rather a renewed adherence to the original vision of the founders when they first established this country, placing power in the hands of the people first and foremost. To make that work, the people must have integrity and a moral/ethical foundation, otherwise you'll just get the fruit of more selfishness and greed. @@JG_Rock
Yeah, they were right. I'm glad the Bush dynasty is over! Thank you Trump. Peace and prosperity, instead of endless wars!
Absolutely stupid they had to take "dixie" outta the chick's.
It is endlessly funny how this conversation seamlessly turned 360 degrees
DIXIE CHICKS!!!!!!!!!!
In simple words: a great song I won't get out of my head for days. At least one metalhead in germany loves it ;-)
Saw them last Saturday night in NJ..... those girls kick ass! Sooo talented - great show!
This song describes Country today. Long time gone.
Alright.
+Denabella got it
+Ryan R yea she did complete
Angel Pennington a man who has never seen
and it aint comin back again.
That leadsinger is georgeous
This song brings back memories of being on vacation in Tennessee when my boys were little. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! Very talented women.
'They sound tired, but they don't sound Haggard.' Ain't that the truth! 4/6/2016, Rest well Merle. You will be missed!
Time for the Dixie Chicks to come back and come back BIG!!
Yes, it is.
I would absolutely love them to, and I think they need more appreciation for just how great they were. Marty and Emily, I've heard, are willing to, but Natalie feels reluctant to because of what happened. I would love to get new music from them because Natalie has a STELLAR voice, all three of them know how to harmonize together so well, and each of them plays at least 3 or 4 instruments, they're amazing musicians. Not to mention their songs were great, and at the time, they were the biggest, most popular, and most successful girl group, not just in country but just in general. Love them to this day.
They announced that they're getting back together.
Now that OLD DICK FACE BUSH is gone maybe they can come back. I sure as hell never wanted them gone.
Piss on 'em
Ladies and Gentlemen- the greatest female music trio... The Dixie Chicks!!
Not much of a country fan... but goddamn this song is good! It just strikes a certain chord. I live in San Francisco but when I hear this it brings back bittersweet memories of growing up in the country. Always gets me choked up. Well done Dixie Chicks.
Great comment.
Una bella canzone che mette allegria🙂
I love everything about this video, the makeup and hair is so early 2000’s and the song will always be 🔥🔥🔥
Just saw them perform in Bangor, Maine..........awesome music, awesome moonlight, the girls were rocking'. Can't wait to see them again soon.
Written by the excellent songwriter, player and singer Darrell Scott! He also wrote "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" and "A Great Day to Be Alive" among many others.
Just love these "Chicks"!
They are so talented, & beautiful 😍
I love how she sings with that country twang, love the banjo & love that country fiddle. Perfect
Love the chicks. Live long and prosper ladies. Your music is an inspiration to women everywhere.
I always get in a good mood hearing this great song 🤗🎶
Love this. Has the "classic country" feel to it with the banjos and the whole feel of the song. Amazing. ❤🍷
Which makes sense as the third verse seems is more than a bit of an insult about the state of country musics when it was written
"We listen to the radio to hear what's cookin'
But the music ain't got no soul
Now they sound tired but they don't sound Haggard (Merle Haggard)
They've got money but they don't have Cash (Johnny Cash)
They got Junior but they don't have Hank (Hank Williams Sr.)
I think, I think, I think, the rest is
A long time gone
No, I ain't hit the roof since I don't know when
Long time gone, and it ain't coming back
I said a long time gone
No, I ain't honked the horn since I don't know when
Long time gone, and it ain't coming back again"
The song was written by bluegrass musician Darrell Scott, originally recorded on Scott's 2000 album two years before The Chicks version was released.
Do you know where America is mentioned in the Bible ??????? Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!!

Now this is real music.
Played this endlessly and to everyone I used to know
Sang along on Weds night when I saw them in Dublin
Fantastic show and showcased a magical repertoire of music
Wonderful
Finally Chicks singing about the Life I’ve been living - a whole other Life Ago! Damn they’re GOOD!
RIP to founder of Dixie Chicks Laura Lynch and God Bless her family 💐🕊️💝 Never noticed how much Natalie Maines looks like actor Busy Phillips from Dawson's Creek... They really do look like doppelgangers. 0:54
Her and Pink could pass as twins I think.
@@jiminykripes4937 Never thought of that... True.
I'm hip-hop and rap all day, and I listen to most genres of music 🎶. I even like country. It's an different perspective. And I do love the Dixie Chicks even though they changed their name to "the chicks".
beginning to the best album ever!
Still listening this song 2022👍👍👍
The this long and their makeup in this music video is fabulous!!!
This song always take me back to central Kentucky where i grew up. I remember growing up seeing fields and fields filled with burly tobacco. Now they aren't. It's been a long time gone since i worked on a farm etc. and it ain't coming back again. then they described Nashville today to tee. Can't believe this song is almost 20 years old
they are so gorgeous and amazing!!!
My hometown Reynosa México,.
I've loved these Chick's since they started, I've never, EVER been a part of this cancel culture and I never, EVER will be. The "VIRUS" seemed to bring out the worst of the worst in humans, with thee original trolls, bullies and mean people ramping it up a zillion but then a whole new breed of them emerged. It seemed like every single second of every single day there was a new target to cancel and I just don't understand it. TOO MUCH TIME WITH NOTHING TO DO WITH ONESELF. Thank you for being your amazing selves everyone, peace and much love sent from Ontario, Canada.
I grew up listening to this when i was like five. It's my favorite :)
You have beautiful taste my dear.
Good Country!!!!!
She's so beautiful and so is her voice
I've always loved you, Chickies, and I always will! The music and the cheekiness!
One of my favorite Dixie Chicks songs.
Love this song. Really glad Pandora showed me this when I added their station to my playlist. I still even have the entire album on Apple Music and listen to it quite frequently.
They look so beautiful in this video. Makeup is slaying 🔥
Three of the best sounding, the best looking little minexes iv ever seen or heard. Fantastic. I live in Ireland and always wanted to meet a girl brought up resling rattle snakes and the likes, fighting bears, and these three seem just what im looking for. Good health minexe chicks.
My most favorite song they ever done. I love it.
Grew up on Country!
Love Dixie chicks!
2017 yes this song never
gets old!
Takes me back to 5th grade watching CMT I love this song! I'm not ashamed 😌 my dad was dating a white woman who listened to country music and I remember her always listening to the song about 'wide open spaces' and that's how I got introduced to these women but I got older and dated a dude from the backwoods of FLA and got introduced to even more country music and i love country music as much as other genres.
I love The Chicks!!! The Fly CD is the sound track of my childhood. They were my first concert and my daughters as well. They were amazing in concert!!! Love them sooo much!!!
Great song, but I always wish they'd replace the hank junior part with "I hear em yellin, but they ain't Waylon". missed opportunities haha
Love this song!
Very true to Darrell Scott’s arrangement. Great band, singers, players, video. Great everything. ❤
Tohle je jedinečná hudební skupina! Jsem hrdý fanoušek!
These girls always get my little man excited
oh yeah, but their politics suck
I hope that you mean that you have a son. :)
"A long time gone. Lord i ain't had a purse since i don't know when. A long time gone and it ain't coming back again" @ 1:33 country is still here
Looovve that vidéo and song from Montréal quebec Canada french fan 🤩 am 42 soo long time love it
The girls are flat out good. Especially live!! miss them
while i love the name 'dixie chicks' i see the change as a show solidarity. thank you for that! i love this cover, version... i love mexico. thank you! the three of you are special.
So AGREE. ❤
I’m a death, black and heavy metal fan. But this song, this song hits hard and is absolutely brilliant and fantastic. Love me some country!
You go girls!
i love this music
That's why they got the Mexican support! Love them
Top of the game for the Chicks. Beautiful. Rock and effing roll. Love this stuff.
This the song that put the Chicks on the map for me back in 2002. I was working in Virginia and the only radio station I could pick up was a country station. I discovered the Dixie Chicks, George “damn” Strait, Travis Tritt, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Jo Dee Mesinna, and several others. I fell in love with country music.
I fell in love with Country Music when 90's "Alternative " and "Grunge" crap came on the scene - couldn't stand the genre's. Discovered the "Garth Man" and I was hooked! The 90's were fabulous for Country Music; esp the Ladies!
I love this song
They are the best! Keep on rockin!
Quintessential Country.
This is such a great video and song...
We listen to the radio to hear what's cookin’ but the music ain't got no soul
Now they sound tired but they don't sound Haggard
They've got money but they don't have Cash
They got Junior but they don't have Hank...
... they are the best cool country group ever!!!
Melinda. chuck
Brilliant song!!
My vocal IDOL
A+ songwriting by Darrell Scott. These women do it justice.
