The Johnstone , and 2-3 other DD's were a major Factor in not only saving several escort CV's but they turned back an entire BB strike Fleet lead by IJN Yamato , at Battle Leyete in the Philippines . Check it out, it is an amazing American story. May we honor the sacrifice those Men made for us.

Its a ship known for its aggression, and I think this fits fairly well. When I was thinking about how to make Johnston unique years ago, I was thinking about an emergency engine boost, reload booster fletcher, and this is pretty close along the same vein. Now we only need Earnest E Evans with improved adrenaline boost skill and Halsey's confederate dpm boost or something.

I've said this before on Reddit, and I'll say it again here: Johnston's design philosophy should have just been Kidd, but a tier higher, with an extra set of torpedoes and French saturation on top of having a heal to further boost its survivability. Alternatively, if the saturation mechanic is a bit overkill, give it 3 superheals base.

just like they removed ships from the fxp category, they are quickly moving all new ships to dubs only or event containers that cost even more. we will see less and less ships for coal, steel and research points as time goes on. less missions = less rewards event pass with less rewards every month combined missions = less rewards fewer expendable camos because we sell them for credits are now replaced with perma camos we can't sell. the recent nerf to the D-Day credits/xp because players were happy for once. 25 stars needed for 1 common container that has a ship drop rate of 1 in 500. sub nerfs that turned out to be sub buffs more CVs added to game that never run out of planes. i could keep going but i don't want my keyboard to run out of ink.
I just thought of this. WG is holding back on the strength of the Johnson. BECAUSE: WG will have Johnson's captain Ernest E. Evans with all kinds of advanced skills available for gold (he did get the Medal of Honor). This will not only compliment the Johnson but other ships as well. Big time profits to be made!
For Heal(s), what they should have done was intro the actual Johnston commander (Ernest E Evans) and given him the skill of a heal when HP goes below a certain level. To be fair, they could still do that. But for historic accuracy I was telling my clan last night that giving the ship French damage saturation would have been the easiest already-in-game mechanic to port over to represent that ship that took a shit-kicking but kept fighting.
I wish this ship had some sort of gimmick…. like a heal for x amount of shell hits. French saturation. Maybe quick reload dcp. Something that accurately models Johnston’s glory.
Probably the most famous destroyer in US Naval History, known for soaking up extreme amounts of damage and still fighting, and WG didn’t give it a heal or damage saturation. Tells you all you need to know about the company and the devs. Any other premium could’ve been a sap burstfire dd.

Would easily get abused. Imagine getting shot by an extreme potato in a Des Memes/Wooster/Smolensk over an island and none of the shells hit you. You could easily farm up potential damage and only come out when every enemy ship has the dispersion of the pre-range buff South Carolina.

It's gonna depend upon how many crates you need to open for a guaranteed drop, and which ships you already have from that ship pool. In some cases (lol), it can be worth it if the secondary rewards from those crates are good.
I was thinking immediately, do the Kidd thing. Give it a heal, reduce torp power and leave the rest. Maybe slightly better ballistics so you can opt for range. As it is I will not be getting this ship unless it's for coal. I mean, Sherman is a coal ship so why not?
The fact that they made THE Johnston into a SAP fletcher is criminal and blatantly disrespectful. They made one of the most heroic last stands of a destroyer into a gimmick boat, and not even a new gimmick its just burst with SAP. so disappointing

You can find it in the official mod pack. The closer the green circle is to being complete the closer to full speed the ship is going. The less the circle the slower the ship. Helps you gauge speed/throttle of the target. (Forgot the name of it though)
Problem is single turret ships at higher tier is power crept heavily. New ship lines have twin turrets at high tiers. Also american smoke and play style around it is now old fashioned due to sub pings 12km radars and hero radar dds... so just burst fire mode won't help
If you want historical accuracy, all hits of 150 and higher overpen. HE does not denotate except one in 10. Torpedoes reload faster and hit harder. Also radar, Johnson radar allowed faster engagement and engaged from smoke.
They put all the fun as fuck ships in tier 9 and proceed to make tier 9 MM garbaje. Yesterday i was on Groningen most of the day, out of 15 games i was bottom tier 11 fking times and mid tier 2 times. Out of 15 games you got top tier 2 times only, that is insane. Groningen can do just fine, but any other tier 9, especially brawler ships will drain your soul out. Super ships were a mistake, same as subs and CV Rework. Bad decisions after bad decisions will eventually kill this game.
long story short: its a pretty shitty copy pasta+gimmick ship in the worst matchmaking, literally put into the game for collectors, whales and people who think they experience history in a very arcady action shooter. - Well done Weegeee.

I started playing wows not long ago got aroud 150 battles and its a torture... Most of games are losses, my teams most of the time dies in first 5-8 mins of battle 😱

With the current meta and matchmaking, this new tier 9 without a heal and without a bigger buff to dpm and improved shell velocity vs the Fletcher feels a bit lack lustre and there are better options out there. I'd still rather take my standard tech tree Jutland tbh. Although the SAP and burst mechanic is kind of fun sounding and the better torp range is good. I'd probably prefer it to a Fletcher but not sure.
They promised back in the beginning "No Premium " ship would ever be stronger than the Tech Tree ships. WOT's is out right dying as player numbers dwindle. WOT's is several years ahead of WOW's. So make no mistake this game is going to die. Hubris , Russian leadership and "Ethos" will not allow this game to survive. Straight out greed , over- monetization. Look how they are plundering the game economy on the Russian server. The justification I've heard repeated is "Oh that's only on the Russian server" "Not on EU or NA server" I just shake my head. They even rent the servers out now? I cannot recommend anybody waste their money buying this very "Sketchy" game . That is without even talking about any issues like "Rampant Widespread Cheating" The issues go on and on.
Honestly if it's tier IX it shouldn't be an upgrade over fletcher, with a heal it should be tier X. Fletcher's already probably my favourite dd (balance of agility, torps speed and guns) so I don't mind a sidegrade....
That's what i was thinking, they should've gone the route of Wisconsin and make Johnston a tier 10 instead of 9. A straight up upgrade to the Fletcher and less terrible MM. Design wise, they should've gone with something more flavorful instead of SapBrbrbr.
I think your math is incorrect. 3 salvoes every 11.8s is equivalent to a 3.9s reload. While better than Johnston's normal reload, that's only about 190k SAP DPM and far worse than Groningen's 233k HE DPM.
You know what they should do to Johnston is making her being the only Us ship that have subs damage saturation and a little bit more HP while also have a passive Last Stand skill with Heal and call it a day. She knowns for literally fighting the whole IJN fleet in the largest naval battle of WWII. She literally head on to IJN Fleet that include the world largest Battleship ever built and literally ates a single shell from Yamato to make her out of action. She should be literally like a DD with Heavy Cruiser level of Hp. Sure it sounds literally broken, seeing USS Johnston refuse to die. But again, it’s Historically accurate. We have Enty being literally broken. Johnston should be Survivability Tank. Mother of all DDs.
Have to say if I could vote to remove CVs subs and superships from the game I would.... I miss just having normal gun surface ship combat which is why I think most people play WoWs
Not affordable. It will be released in an Admiral pack (36,000+ doubloons) or in wings of freedom gambling containers. Not worth the time and expense. The weakness you highlighted makes this a flawed design the capabilities are cancelled by the design weaknesses. WOWs gamers blog "will be available in an Admirals Bundle in the armory, as a standard ship with 10 pt captain in the premium shop and as a possible drop in the "Wings of Freedom" containers." Admirals bundles (about 36,000) doubloons and gambling boxes.
I'm pretty sure that I'll not be getting this ship. Don't know the cost and currency yet, but if it's something like hard cash or doubloons, I'm out. After all, it's just another specialized DD. And playing DD, although I'm a pretty good destroyer player, is just too stressful for me lately. So...pass.
The torpedoes have super long reload, and are only really for area denial or to deter flank pushers just once per game. The AA is so weak, tier 8 cv rocket planes attack Johnston with near impunity, taking bites of the ever shrinking health bar. The depth charges, well we all know those are useless for anti sub warfare on ANY ship. The main guns, exactly as PQ states. Whale thought I'd give gambling a go, because I have all other ships in paywall already, how bad can it be, RIGHT?. GOT JOHNSTON ON SATAN CRATE 30.... NAH NOT "rigged" at all?, RIGHTTTT???. TOTALLY RANDOM, RIGHHHTTTT???!!!. For comparison, I have NEVER EVER gotten a loot ship on a first, or heck even second or third draw. It's a bad ship, not worth getting if you are interested in playing a ship that can handle its own battle issues, rather than rely on a TEAM... The weak AA is a huge deal breaker.

Doubt they'll release a second Halsey-like commander for the same nation. At best, you'll get a commander that has an improved survivability expert.

What buggs me here is that this is Bazans gimmick.
The could have gone with French saturation and a Heal at the cost of DPM.
They could also have made it a tier X and given it french saturation, a heal, AND the burst fire.

I have been hoping for USS Johnston for many years. I also felt sure that WG would not capture what makes DD-557 so memorable. I hate being right.
To be fair. The concealment is the same as an fletcher? Borg frisland and gronning has the worst (highest with out takieing the french in to it.)

Fletcher's a really good ship and probably somewhat underappreciated. SAP is great and Johnston's seems pretty strong.

Look how they are plundering the game economy on the Russian server. The justification I've heard repeated is "Oh that's only on the Russian server" "Not on EU or NA server" I just shake my head. W.G. is by far the most DISHONEST , DECEITFUL gaming company in the world. I have 255 ships , all worthless as this game continues to lose it's player count massively. They even rent the servers out now? I cannot recommend anybody waste their money buying this very "Sketchy" game . That is without even talking about any issues like "Rampant Widespread Cheating" The issues go on and on.

Honestly if it's tier IX it shouldn't be an upgrade over fletcher, with a heal it should be tier X. Fletcher's already probably my favourite dd (balance of agility, torps speed and guns) so I don't mind a sidegrade....
That's what i was thinking, they should've gone the route of Wisconsin and make Johnston a tier 10 instead of 9. A straight up upgrade to the Fletcher and less terrible MM. Design wise, they should've gone with something more flavorful instead of SapBrbrbr.

I think your math is incorrect. 3 salvoes every 11.8s is equivalent to a 3.9s reload. While better than Johnston's normal reload, that's only about 190k SAP DPM and far worse than Groningen's 233k HE DPM.
You know what they should do to Johnston is making her being the only Us ship that have subs damage saturation and a little bit more HP while also have a passive Last Stand skill with Heal and call it a day. She knowns for literally fighting the whole IJN fleet in the largest naval battle of WWII. She literally head on to IJN Fleet that include the world largest Battleship ever built and literally ates a single shell from Yamato to make her out of action. She should be literally like a DD with Heavy Cruiser level of Hp. Sure it sounds literally broken, seeing USS Johnston refuse to die. But again, it’s Historically accurate. We have Enty being literally broken. Johnston should be Survivability Tank. Mother of all DDs.
WeeGee could run a test. Cut 1 kilometre range from EVERYTHING. Run that for a week and see what the palyerbase hs to say about the change.

Not affordable. It will be released in an Admiral pack (36,000+ doubloons) or in wings of freedom gambling containers. Not worth the time and expense. The weakness you highlighted makes this a flawed design the capabilities are cancelled by the design weaknesses. WOWs gamers blog "will be available in an Admirals Bundle in the armory, as a standard ship with 10 pt captain in the premium shop and as a possible drop in the "Wings of Freedom" containers." Admirals bundles (about 36,000) doubloons and gambling boxes.
I'm pretty sure that I'll not be getting this ship. Don't know the cost and currency yet, but if it's something like hard cash or doubloons, I'm out.
After all, it's just another specialized DD. And playing DD, although I'm a pretty good destroyer player, is just too stressful for me lately. So...pass.

The torpedoes have super long reload, and are only really for area denial or to deter flank pushers just once per game. The AA is so weak, tier 8 cv rocket planes attack Johnston with near impunity, taking bites of the ever shrinking health bar. The depth charges, well we all know those are useless for anti sub warfare on ANY ship. The main guns, exactly as PQ states. Whale thought I'd give gambling a go, because I have all other ships in paywall already, how bad can it be, RIGHT?. GOT JOHNSTON ON SATAN CRATE 30.... NAH NOT "rigged" at all?, RIGHTTTT???. TOTALLY RANDOM, RIGHHHTTTT???!!!. For comparison, I have NEVER EVER gotten a loot ship on a first, or heck even second or third draw. It's a bad ship, not worth getting if you are interested in playing a ship that can handle its own battle issues, rather than rely on a TEAM... The weak AA is a huge deal breaker.
