    What a nice JU-52 RC scale Airplane, very nice made after a perfect flight it crashes into cars. I've already seen it land and then take it off and two of the 3x engines don't run and it ends in a crash.

    Always amazed how many people who watch these vids know precisely how to build a giant scale 'plane, and fly it perfectly too. Can you armchair pilots share your videos of your wonderful machines and superior piloting skills? Nah - didn't think so. Respect to the builders and flyers of these fantastic pieces of engineering. 'Know it all' comments with a huge dose of General Hindsight and Major Disaster really don't help.

    • @backtosleep
      @backtosleep 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Bullshit. A good pilot would rather drive his plane into the runway then cross the flight line in trouble. He yanked on the elevator stick way overcorrecting. Never even attempted to use his rudder and ailerons to counter flying over the flight line. He panicked. That is a really big rule is to never ever cross the flight line. Safety always comes first over saving your plane. And if that isn't with him he sure as hell shouldn't be flying.

    • @backtosleep
      @backtosleep 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And how much have you flown apologist. I have flown for ten years and I know an overcorrection when I see one. Also he probably ran out of fuel. There's a timer you can set up on the minute you start using throttle or starts with you activating it with a switch the minute you start it. You give yourself a couple of minutes grace in case your not able to land when it goes off as a safety. He should maybe use it.

    • @jekuh123456
      @jekuh123456 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think due to the sudden pitch up Just before touchdown, the right wing almost stalled and caused the wing low moment. Therefore I think the quick reaction to initiate a go-around was the best he could do, unfortunately luck was not on his side as the right and front engine Both failed. Natural reaction is ofcourse to add more power, but this actually made it worse as the yawing moment of the remaining engine stalled the right wing again. Hope the plane is up and flying again.

    Fortunate there were no injuries or damages beyond the airplane. Whatever foreign agency it is that regulates and allows RC planes the size of real aircraft (assuming there is one?) should institute airshow restrictions similar to full size too and get the flight paths well the heck away from the public. These monster craft can be just as lethal when things go wrong. IMHO

    • @chicagorandy
      @chicagorandy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Tuatha DeDanaanWowsers - get yer undies in a bunch much? Please advise where I suggested a ban on anything, beyond rude strangers of course - lol. REAL airplanes institute separation distances and flight boxes at air shows so that should something go amiss, spectators have less potential for becoming victims. This massive craft narrowly missed hitting spectators because the landing area was too close to the viewing area when things went South..

    • @daszieher
      @daszieher 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get the same impression, that very often owners of these special scale planes are not the best pilots. it may even be a common misconception, that only because the plane is so large, complex and shiny that its pilot must be spectacular. this is a dangerous association.
      my assessment is strengthened by the fact, that he did not cut the power after realising that he would have to attempt to climb out on one engine with full flaps deployed barely over stall speed. the moment he poured on the coal, he sealed the fate of the plane. I have no idea, but I doubt even full opposite rudder would have changed the outcome.

    Why did the pilot attempt a go around? He had plenty of runway space around the plane. No altitude and probably underpowered with only one outboard engine running. Guessing probably shouldn’t have attempted the go around and/or cut the remaining engine when the other two quit. Gaining a little altitude, yawing to the right and having a wing tip stall, made a manageable problem worse. (Of course, it’s easy to 2nd guess after the accident occurred).

    • @ronc9413
      @ronc9413 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack Steward Landing approach looked OK until he “popped” up for some reason. He was relatively close to the ground at that point. Then he powered up the engines to make a go around (causing the center and right engine to quit). If he had chopped the remaining engine to idle, he would have crashed anyway but he would have been lower and not sideways.

    • @ronc9413
      @ronc9413 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack Steward Since he didn’t correct for the yawing and/or cut the engine, he was committed to at least avoiding the crowd. Plane was a goner at that point. No power, no airspeed, no altitude, asymmetric thrust. Only a matter of how bad the crash would be. 😱😱😱

    I fly rc planes and to be honest they are getting too damn big. He overcorrected pulled far too much on the elevator control nearing the ground. Plus you can see he never even touched his rudder to counter it going to the flight line. That was all pilot error. Hell any pilot worth any good would try never to cross the flight line and rather crash it into the runway just to avoid hitting anyone. He panicked that is clear. Just because he built a great plane doesn't make him a good pilot. I have seen many a poor pilot flying big planes. A lot of times it's flown by guys up in age with poor eye site that build them bigger so they are easier to see. Only that their reflexes and judgement are off with old age.

      I agree that the large-size RC aircraft concern me (as far as safety is concerned.) As far as the crash is concerned, start watching at 8:41. You can clearly see that he lost two engines (one on the nose and the right engine.) Applying full-throttle on the left engine caused the aircraft to naturally yaw. 8:42 you can see full-up elevator and it looks like left rudder, but with no airspeed, the rudder has little effect. I imagine his only thought was to clear the spectators. Need better protection for the guests if they are going to watch. I wonder if he simply ran it out of fuel?

      @@Kntryhart After he messed up and tried to pull up. It's never OK to fly over flight line unless he lost radio control and it was on it's own. I watched in slow motion and never saw the rudder move. I agree it's most likely he ran out of fuel.

    the Swiss board that was investigating the fatal crash of a Ju-52 on a mountain peak in Switzerland would be very interested in this footage.
    The conclusion of their report was that the Ju-52 was stalled because of mountain winds causing the airflow over the wing to become turbulent with the boundary layer coming loose. That combined with a kind of ground effect as the plane was flying much too low...

      The conclusion was also that the pilots were reckless 'cowboys' flying to low.

      @@impaladin8897 habe selber kein Flugzeug mit Verbrenner aber das würde ich pauschal ausschließen denn dann würden ja reihenweise die Kunstflieger vom Himmel fallen und die haben auzch nicht immer vollen Tank . @@geraldhaller9906 Ich glaube fast das es sich umgekehrt verhält. Nicht zwei Motoren sind ausgefallen, sondern einer ist noch weitergelaufen.
      Ich habe selbst auch kein Verbrenner, bzw. Flugzeug aber ich habe ein par FPV Copter.
      Bei diesen schalte ich bei der Landung (kurz vor dem Aufsetzen) die Motoren aus.
      Ich vermute das hier der Pilot für die Landung auch die Motoren ausgeschaltet hat.
      Ein Motor ist wohl weitergelaufen und hat den Flieger aus der Spur getragen.
      Leider ist das durchstarten dann schief gelaufen.
      Ich muss Motoren ausschalten sonst würde wegen dem Controller die Landung schief gehen.
      Dann würde mein Copter wie ein Gummiball am Boden rum hüpfen.
      Bei einem solchen großen Flugzeug, könnte ich mir vorstellen das man aus Sicherheitsgründen die Motoren stoppt.
      Wenn der Flieger nach vorne Übergewicht bekommen sollte, könnte es den Propeller zerreißen.

      @@zock5166 Bei Flächen Flugzeugen werden die Motoren niemals in der luft abgeschaltet erst recht nicht wenn es verbrenner sind .
      Zum einen wird mit minimal schub gelandet zum anderen braucht es schub wenn durchgestratet werden soll und den braucht es dann so schnell es irgend möglich ist was bei laufenden Motoren halt besser ist und Verbrenner bleiben halt aus können im regel Fall nicht gestartet werden bei Modellen und selbst wenn dauert es viel zu lange .
      Wenn ein Motor ausfällt bei mehr motorigen flzgzeugen schieben die recht heftig über eine achse weg was oft nicht schnell genug mittels ruder ausgeglichen werden aknn und bei voller last vermutlich überhaupt nicht aus zu gleichen ist zumindest nicht wenn die Geschwindigkeit sehr niedrig ist und so kaum druck auf den rudern ist .
      Ich kenne das von Booten die fast im Kreis fahren wenn nur ein motor läuft und ich höhere Leistungen dann bei geringer Geschwindigkeit nicht ausgleichen kann mit dem Ruder .
