I loved the use of the bunch of grapes to illustrate your concepts. Great video. Very impressive large monitor on the wall there. I am presently putting together a micro photo studio space to allow me to shoot archaeology specimens, so more hard light than this setup but there is still so much useful information being shared here. Love the confident delivery

I have to say a huge thank you for sharing these videos. I know I'm solid at my craft in baking, but taking that and translating it to film to build my youtube channel and company is definitely a learning curve. You are so good at breaking concepts down, easy to listen to, and you are naturally a teacher at heart. So grateful 🙏!

Also, note the high-key look of the subject, but she *and* the bg are still very dynamic: the black shirt/hair, the corner and structure/shadows of the shelving; oh and no RGB or obnoxious in-frame wands/mics/etc (🙋🏻‍♂️ guilty) - color me impressed!

You are an absolute joy to watch and listen to. I just found you so maybe you have this, but Do you have a video or, if not, could you make one on like a “starter pack” for a first time small business owner looking to photograph their own food? So maybe like if this beginner can only buy one of each category what would your recommendations be for: lens, backdrop set up, lighting set up, etc. for like the bare minimum and then maybe at the end throw in some splurges a first timer could get if able. 😅 I’m trying to take notes on multiple more in depth videos of each of those categories you have but I tend to want *the best* so maybe an “all-in-one stop shop” type video of the bare minimum/essentials to buy to accomplish professional look at a reasonable cost to market a small business. Thank you for your knowledge! I’ll continue my binge watching of your content now 😂

Thanks for these great tips. I've also seen this 32 x 32 foldable really easy to setup softbox from Godox. Looks like it's very efficient for when you're on the go but I'm doubting about the size and shape. Would this be a size that you would recommend or is it to small (obviously depends on the size of the subject). Thanks :-)

What light or lights with a softbox, and stand; just all in one, would you recommend under $150 or ideally $100? Starting out and mostly just post food pictures on Instagram and my recipe blog. What are your thoughts on using a portable LED that's either handheld or on a stand in my kitchen if I want to take quick and easy pictures of my dinner on my kitchen countertop. Overhead lights in my kitchen make for so much shadow. It's pretty obnoxious. I want better photos but can't afford much. (SAHM at the moment. ) Thanks in advance! Love your videos.

Hello First thanks for This channel I am almost learning everything here
But I have a small problem with lighting modifiers
I own the same 3 modifiers but 5 in 1 diffuser for the 3rd
but when I ever use the soft box
Food looks bad and soft no contrast and not Sharp
Especially on white background and if food colour is light colour like Ice cream
but when I shoot with diffuser I found better results but not soft light like I want
I dont know when to use the 5 in 1 diffuser and when to use the soft box

Sooo helpful A few questions I hope you can help with:
    1) Do you especially recommend the strip softback to be only this short - or is longer just as fine?
    2) Curious why you use ISO 320 (and not 100) for the drink shot?
    3) What do you spray on the glass for condensation?
Thanks a lot in advance, Joanie 😊

      Hi!
      1) there is no exact recipe, it all depends on the plot. Try it yourself.
      2) She could just accidentally get off the ISO during the shooting because she forgot to lock the controls.
      3) Water is mixed with glycerin.
