    Disclaimer 1: I have private gameplays in at least 4 other neighborhoods, so I can't be that devoted to Pleasantview these days.
    Disclaimer 2: If you count the families on the first shot, you'll see there are 25 of them, not 24. But the one at the very bottom (IKEA house) are the Ramaswamis that I haven't fully added to Pleasantview yet.
    Disclaimer 3: The Story Progression mod is not something I'd like to have in my Sims 2. In other Sims games - sure!

      I have a fan fiction of this playing in my head where she was abducted, and then basically became the sims world version of Starlord (Guardians of the Galaxy).
      So she periodically goes into cryo while traveling..which is why she aged so slowly and seemingly doesn’t die. 🤓

    I always allow Brandi to have as many kids as she wants; but, I feel like when you live in such a huge (and broke!) family those children are sometimes so fed up with taking care of their siblings that they don't want to have babies on their own in their adulthood :)

  • @prhc10000
    @prhc10000 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    i had this problem HORRIBLY in my first-ever custom neighborhood; i was playing strictly wants-based so every family sim had ten kids and by my second/third generation the population had spiked from 20 to 200. i started a new neighborhood when i got a new computer and i've been enforcing a birth control system where i set caps on each sim with acr based on their primary/secondary aspiration; kind of based on pleasantsims system. family sims have three children, popularity, knowledge, and fortune have two children, and pleasure and romance can have one child. then secondary aspirations, if family is their secondary then i add 1 to their total and if pleasure or romance is their secondary i subtract 1 from their total (with a limit of 1 child at the lowest to preserve genetics). this system has been working really well for me so far and i really recommend setting a system like this to cap the population for long-term hoods :-D

    • @Marticore
      @Marticore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      My general system is even more simple:
      Family + Family = 3 kids
      Family + Other = 2 kids
      Other + Other = 1 kid
      I don't take secondary aspirations into account.

    That's why I find so hard to play rotationally. I don't mind having no story progression but the only way I can keep interested in a neighborhood for long is by making every sim age together. With some families, I just want to help with the big steps and let them live in the background while I play with more interesting Sims.

Your dedication is admirable. :0 Currently I'm playing a mini megahood with PV and ST and I can already feel like it's gonna be 50 families after a while... grouping families in big houses could be a solution to have less houses to play in a rotation idk.

    I started a Prosperity Challenge in Sims 2 several years ago. The main gyst of the challenge is to start in an empty neighborhood with a random number of families with a random number of sims in each of random ages and see how prosperous the neighborhood can be in 5 generations. I started with 5 households, two of which split up because of having 2 adults that got married and moved into their own homes. I now have 37 households and 188 sims total (I think that includes the ones who have died). I play each household for 4 days and I'm on round 20 right now. It's a lot! If I didn't have all their info written down I'd never know where I was at in gameplay. I'm enjoying it but it is a lot of sims! I can see where it can get overwhelming.

    I have a neighborhood with 301 sims in 67 households. But I don't play it that often anymore, so a 4 day round takes probably 1 year rn. I also started with only 2 families, so a family tree would probably be hilarous. But it's still fun to play sometimes. Just don't put the stress on you that you've to get the neighborhood ahead in time.

    This is 100% how my Belladonna Cove save is gonna end up if I keep it up...and I'm keeping it up 😂
    Edit: I'm not kidding. Last family I played had multiples twice. Another family has 8 children. I'm trying to complete the "have 10 children" want for once just to say that I did but I just know it's gonna backfire tremendously on me not too far down the road. Belladonna Cove is gonna be a freaking metropolis nightmare 🙃
    Edit 2: I've banned family sims from the next generation. They're driving me crazy. I've already decided they're gonna be cut off for a while after this generation. Want based gameplay is important to me. Some of the families are probably gonna have to be combined down the road. There's also ALOT of redheads omg

      I'm playing BC now and I locked "have 10 kids" today for Isabel, because she is the only sim in the world that can have this many kids , they live in a mansion and she is rich, I was thinking about give her super fertility and finally get the triples and quads mod because It's something I wanted forever. But now I'm rethinking because BC is giant in the begging, imagine after one single family have 10 kids! At least Ana Patel probably don't gonna have so many kids because I'm trying to play with traits and her husband dislikes children + she almost died from childbirth. I have several mods that can make my sims die more easily, so this can help with the big population too.

    This makes me want to play TS2 again! Pleasantview was my first neighborhood. Back then I didn't know about game-breaking things you shouldn't do (deleting graves, binning occupied houses, etc - if it's that bad why can we do it?!) and I didn't play in rotation mostly keeping my focus on the Goth house and the many generations that sprang from there, occasionally playing other houses just for the break. Eventually the map and Sim bin were filled with cast off relatives that should have long since died! Amazingly I made it to about the 12th generation before the bad things I'd done early on caught up with me. Sims were disappearing out of households with no Sim having any memory of them! The game was still playable but it was like a mass alien abduction was happening. When I started the game one day the Goth house was completely empty except for one child (there had been 6 sims living there!) that was promptly taken away by the social worker, I realized I needed to delete that whole neighborhood file and start fresh somewhere else! Good times. lol

    Super interesting to see just *how much* dedication you put into growing your neighborhood, having them reproduce like rabbits almost 😅 Definitely agree that not every couple needs to have children though (neither in the sims nor in real life), but somehow everyone seems to believe "the more kids the better"; which can be quite annoying and boring sometimes. I loved this family tree. A lot of work is required to achieve this. Congratulations!
    I'm currently playing in Pleasantview. I got inspiration from Cindy's (Pleasant Sims) gameplay. I use a mod to "correct" ages and lifespans.
    I'm keeping track using the notepad because I ran out of paper hahaha
    I joined all the families together, and I already played for 30 or so Sim days. Each rotation is 2 days long.
    Brandi married Darren and they adopted a baby girl. It is funny that she is younger than her niblings.
    I'm not using the clean version because I don't like to have Bella in the game. I think that it ruins the "original purpose" of the story.
    But I managed to clean it using hood checker, I'm making my backups and using mods to prevent corruptions.

    I've only ever "fiddled" with premade neighborhoods. I do my own custom neighborhoods & I've found it must pretty much eliminate the corrupt file issue (I don't play npcs in the bin, I delete them) I've been playing sims 2 since it released & only ever had 1 save file go corrupt & honestly I think it was either the computer at the time or cc that did it. I don't keep track of anything other than making sure each family has progressed to the next season (which tells me I've not missed anyone) My rules are to play each family as realistically as possible (speed 1, give them as full a life as I can, use the job chance cards to spice it up) If I happen to forget Susan was wooing Joe & she flirts with Mark......oops, that's life & consequences if any are coped with. It can get mighty interesting. lol After 2nd cousins I don't over worry sims being distantly related, that too, is part of life unless I want to play a mega hood & well, I just can't. Population is controlled by various deaths; fire, illness, drowning, trapped in a room *cough cough* & are also coped with as most are natural. So far, it works for me. I can't do the micro manage thing as it would add stress to the game I play to relieve stress & escape. After however many generations I tend to get bored & I'll find myself starting a new custom hood.....and after not playing the previous one for weeks or months will delete it.

  • @akinamation

    I used to play rotationally on Strangetown for a short time, about maybe 3 or 4 generations.
    My problem was actually the opposite. When I played TS2, 90% of the time my Sims had every aspiration EXCEPT family. I always found that the wants, gameplay of that was so boring. I'd much rather try to climb the career ladder and have my sims be the best in every skill, have the best reputation, have the most lovers etc (unless it was different for story purpose).
    Only rarely, either for story purposes or because I actually did feel like it, did my sims have children. So likely only every 5th sim orso had a baby.
    I ended up shrinking the neighborhood to like.. 4 actual families I think because the originals died and by the time I hit Gen 4 they all sorta had relations to each other.
    Then it kinda got boring, lol

    This video made me think of a messed up idea for a megahood: play a megahood with as many families from difffrent neighborhoods as possible, but when you play through them, you keep the dangerous fires/deadly disease/death by childbirth mods to max settings and play with a fears based play style until you are down to 12 families. I call it Survival of the Fittest/The Hunger Games Megahood Challenge
