  • Does your 9th Gen Impala have a cracked cluster lens? Looking to swap out your instrument cluster? Or do you just want to paint over the woodgrain on your dash bezel? Well look no further!
    The only tool you need is a 7mm socket/nut driver or a stubby phillips screwdriver to remove a total of 8 screws. Removal and reinstallation is fairly straightforward. This is also a good time to repair any broken vanes on the dashboard vents that you may have.

    Nice upload and very informative. It sure is a lot harder with one hand then two.

    So late to the party once again! I keep forgetting Mondays! Anyway, cool little tutorial. Very similar to the Malibu. Not sure if the cluster still works similar to the Malibu or not, but you could put your needles on wherever and then just push them down (so start at full or half on gas and work it down to empty). You should feel some resistance, but not much resistance. As long as you feel that resistance, it should climb from there so it's more of getting it lined up perfectly that way. Probably even uses the same stepper motors for all you know. I would absolutely love to swap in an SS faceplate on mine!

      I'm just glad they don't use the same stepper motors as the 8th Gens!! And speaking of late to the party, don't you have your reminders set anymore?? 🤣

    Would love to gut my cats and get better flow. There's no emissions test here.

      He did a muffler delete and installed J-pipes. Of all the 3.6 exhaust mods I've heard, this one sounds the best, IMHO..

      Had another commenter tell me he ran straight pipes right off the cats and it killed all the low end of the 3.6..

    If you use a kitchen fork you can carefully get those orange needles off.

    • @CertifiedShadetree

      Not at all. There are 4 tabs holding it to the dash bezel that just need to be pried away, then you can push it out.

    do you if the a 06-10 monte carlo would swap in a 06-10 impala?

    • @CertifiedShadetree
      @CertifiedShadetree  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A Monte cluster won't fit the Impala, as the casing and bezel are completely different between the 2 models. I thought about swapping in a Monte bezel, but it won't fit the Impala cluster, nor will it fit properly in the Impala's dash..

    Any advice on how to remove the plastic lens off of it

    • @CertifiedShadetree
      @CertifiedShadetree  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would trace around the lense with the cluster still in the car and the bezel still in place so you know how much plastic is hidden. Then cut very carefully around the perimeter with a Dremel being mindful not to dip down past the line you drew. I would recommend at least picking up another sacrificial lense to practice on.

      @@CertifiedShadetree a friend told me to get a head gun to loosen it up but I don’t want to mess it up!! Chevy Impala make thing difficult most car the lens just pop right off

    • @CertifiedShadetree
      @CertifiedShadetree  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try the heat gun, but I would suspect the lense would warp from the heat before it would pop loose from the surround. The glue they use chemically welds the lens onto the surround, so cutting it off, IMHO, would be the best course of action..

    Why did you change it out I have an 07 Impala and my speedometer gauge keeps fluctuating and then my car stalls and a light appear says exceeded 107 miles an hour. I had a mechanic it was a cluster. What do you think?

    • @CertifiedShadetree
      @CertifiedShadetree  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a bad ground wire or ground connection. What else goes wacky? Did you recently install a system (subs, amp, speakers, etc)?

    • @Ro81972
      @Ro81972 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CertifiedShadetree no I did not just whenever I come to the light. This speedometer starts going up and down and then it shuts off and then I can put it back in neutral and start it up and takeoff and it just does it when I come to traffic or a light

    • @CertifiedShadetree

      @@Ro81972 I'd still start with checking all of your power and ground connections. Start at the battery and work from there. Snug and free of corrosion. There's a ground wire right above the passenger side headlight up on the core support that is problematic, so make sure that one is snug and free of corrosion..
