  • Live Coverage: WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse - Kenosha Shooting
    Happening in Court:
Direct Exam of Nathan DeBruin - Freelance Photojournalist
Direct Exam of Lucas Zanin - Witness Of Car Source Destruction (Father Of Child Who Took Video While Passing By Car Source)
    Charges:
    1. First Degree Reckless Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Joseph Rosenbaum)
    2. First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Richard
McGinnis, reporter for Daily Caller, not injured but near Rosenbaum when Rittenhoue
    fired)
    3. First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Use of a Deadly Weapon (unknown male)
    4. First Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Anthony Huber)
    5. Attempt First Degree Intentional Homicide, Use of a Deadly Weapon (Gaige
    Grosskreutz)
    6. Possession of a Dangerous Weapon by a Person under the Age of 18
    7. Fail to Comply with Order of Local Government - Emergency Management Activity
(citation, carries no penalty) - everyone present was breaking the 7pm curfew issued by
    the sheriff.
JURY CHOSEN IN ONE DAY. 20 jurors have been selected in WI v. Kyle Rittenhouse. 9 men and 11 women. (8 are alternates)
Rittenhouse shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 26, and Anthony Huber, 26, and injured Gaige Grosskreutz, 27. Prosecutors say that Rittenhouse, then 17 and from Illinois, was a vigilante looking for a fight. He, like other right-wingers, went to Kenosha, Wisconsin ostensibly to protect property. This happened as protests over police shooting local man Jacob Blake turned violent. Rittenhouse’s attorneys assert he was acting in self-defense. This case became a cause célèbre among conservatives.
Prosecutors have struggled in court, failing to introduce evidence of prior aggressive behavior. This included evidence showing him attacking a woman who was in an altercation with his sister. The other is that he was closely linked to the violent, far-right Proud Boys organization.
Kenosha County Judge Bruce Schroeder said an appellate court would reverse him if he allowed these in trial. The evidence was too prejudicial, he said. He left it up in the air whether he would allow footage showing someone identified as Rittenhouse discussing a Black man exiting a CVS pharmacy. Rittenhouse believed the man was shoplifting.

If you're wondering why the defense didn't object, it's because they were letting the prosecution get all the rope they needed to hang themselves. Prosecution looks terrible to the jury now and their witness looks likeable and believable. It was well played.

Note that they badgered the witness in court because he didn't tell them everything from the first time, and keep asking the obvious.
The city was in ruin, the police was in shambles and he didn't wanted to be there and wanted to be over as soon as possible and he had no legal obligation to be complete.
Also, the police badgered him over another case.
And the jury saw it all.

1:06:32 One of the more subtly damning parts of this whole interaction. The prosecution was trying to cast doubt on whether or not the witness could confirm the gun was loaded, but he clearly could, based on his basic knowledge of how firearms function. The prosecution asked a question they didn't know the answer to, based on their own ignorance of firearms, and ended up directly disproving the point they tried to make. They then attempted to quickly cover this up with the redundant question of whether or not the witness saw the gun being loaded. What a terrible lawyer.

@@Vendetta-ta4224 that's an interesting take. The job the prosecutor does or doesn't do is not what proves the kid is innocent, the kid is ALREADY innocent.. Until he gets PROVEN GUILTY, that is.
The prosecutor wanted this thing to be a mistrial. A mistrial, the judge makes the decision to throw it out, where if the prosecutor loses, it goes on his record of wins/loses, which hurt his dream of becoming the DA. He did illegal, unethical things, hoping to be called out and have the case thrown out.
That said, the prosecutor has always had an uphill battle. Like it or not, armed or not, the dead men attacked the kid. Self defense doesn't stop being self defense just because everyone in the world thinks the kid shouldn't have been there.
Simple question in determining whether it was really self defense: how many people got shot who DID NOT attack the kid?

Anyone or anything that makes the left look bad automatically becomes subject to the full force of their Anti-PR offensive arsenal, and will be victimized-often scapegoated-at all costs. The left will not admit wrongdoing in any situation, or even mere imperfection, because it’s just not possible, and is always the fault of their opposition. They are wired to double-down, deflect, and deny, as if it’s a commandment in their religious text. Those who do not toe the (party/ideological) line will be at serious risk of alienation and shunning. They all know this, and so they stick together and are loyal to one another no matter the circumstances. It’s actually kind of admirable, if I’m being honest. Us conservatives could stand to learn a thing or two from them, about the value of camaraderie and unity. But overall, they are absolutely despicable, and it’s difficult to predict how we can possibly deradicalize them and make a return (in our lifetimes, at least) to the state of our republic and its inter-party climate, in decades long past. Unfortunately, history has shown us that when groups become radical like this, to the point of practically treating their ideology as a “religion”, the only ways to regain balance and civil relations ate either eliminating them, or converting them. Both options sound nearly unthinkable. I hope and pray that we will somehow be able to figure this madness out, without any substantial loss, on either side.

@@Legomax18 Lol the two parties are pretty similar in the end. Conservatives unite unanimously on plenty of things. It's almost like both parties are happy to keep us arguing over nonsense while they run the world...

This exchange was tense at the end with the prosecution team. Big boy went at him and guy held up well. Good testimony sir.

"How did you know it was loaded?" "it would have stayed back when he racked it if it were empty." I have guns and I don't think I would have given as clear and logical an answer. And then he asks, "but did you see him load it?" lol

It's safe to assume all guns are loaded at all times unless you have visually inspected the chamber to ensure it is empty. It was a stupid question.
