  • A legendary and potent cocktail in the history of tiki. Invented in 1941 at Don the Beachcomber, Hollywood.
    To make the NAVY GROG:
    --------------------------------------
    3/4 oz fresh lime juice
    3/4 oz white grapefruit juice
    3/4 oz soda water
    1 oz honey syrup
    1 oz light rum
    1 oz dark Jamaican rum
    1 oz Demerara rum
Shake with ice. Strain into double old fashioned glass over ice cone.

The beginning with Miss Palmer was beautifully done. Would love to see more of that style.

Cody Burns Thanks so much… I'd love to do more of that style, but the viewership and time just doesn't really allow for it. 🤷🏻‍♂️ :/ I do have a few more videos on my channel in that style… If you go way back! 👌🏻✨

tanner sowa I appreciate that. Yeah, it's been pretty frustrating. I usually get another few thousand views on IG too... but the subscriber count is just like 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great to hear a couple of fellow Costa Mesa dudes reminisce. I grew up there in the late 70s/early 80s when we had to drive up to Hollywood to see the good bands.

Great episode! The opening video was outstanding. Hopefully we'll see more like it. I love the extended episode as it's great to hear so much tiki talk. I live in a place that has a serious dearth of anything even remotely exotic so Fridays have become a highlight of my week.

I really appreciate your sentiments. I wish I had the time to do this level of production every week, but the financially it just doesn't allow for that. I'll keep trying to make compelling co tent though! Thanks for watching!!

Great show Spike! Where was this recipe from? Tried this one versus the smugglers cove version. Very nice! Awesome tribute to your dad with the fish on your bar. The Kamehameha was stationed at Pearl when I was there too. Kam’s topside was outfitted with secret spook stuff for navy seal ops. Oogah oogah!

Michael Rodriguez wow, that's cool!! This recipe was from the Don the Beachcomber guide to Tropical Drinks (or whatever it's called). I believe that it's the same one in the Total Tiki app.

@@BreezewayCocktailHour I know lol. What they tend to do is make a snow cone layer in the edges of the drinking glass and the drink is then inside the snow shell. I prefer the cone shaped garnish, like you made though for sure !

Great shows and content! However, making the cocktail is where the rubber hits the road. I'm certain that after two years you've learned to stop making two cocktails in one tin. The liquid to ice ratio is too low thereby simply melting and diluting the drink rather than making it cold. And your shaking technique needs improvement. You'll never have adequate mixing and aeration being that light-handed. Cheers!
