I have been scared stiff of learning how to edit videos . I have been very intimidated by it. I really want to get my TH-cam channel up and running. I have made about 8 how to videos which is going to be my main interest. I love to teach people things but don't have the opportunity here in this town to meet anybody to teach anything because people here just want to be left alone. I love the way you teach you are very slow and simple. That is what I need. I was going to down load free versions of Davinci but they had closed all the free down loads. Even the older 15 . This soft ware , Open Shot is exactly want I need even when I learn how to do this I will just keep it simple. Thanks for the video it is very much appreciated.
Really liked your tutorial over all the others! It shows beginners how to actually EDIT something in the real world instead of 14 ways to do the same one thing! For a beginner trying to assemble and edit a bunch of home movie MP4's into a single watchable MP4, it got right to the nitty-gritty. Thanks!

After watching this I was able to successfully complete a wonderful video that I can use on Facebook immediately. As a guitarist/singer I've been making music videos for years that I put on Facebook for my friends to see. I was using Movie Maker but recently our CPU burned out and I was stuck. I looked at several programs but Openshot seemed the best for my needs. After your demonstrations I was able to add music for the titles and credits, include captions for the songs I sing and throw in a lot of nice touches that weren't available on Movie Maker. I want you to know that I'm very grateful. Thanks again!

HI, Howfinity, I am editing my videos using this app that you made it simple and easy. My question for you is how to edit video duration. I have 2 videos: one is 10 minutes without sound, and the other one is 3 hours with a sound I want to play(BACKGROUND MUSIC) I want to make the 10 min video equal to the other video. The 10 min video should play for the entire video without sound. dragging did not work is that the only option? I MI TRY TO COPPY PASTE UNTILL I GET 3 HOURS OF THE VID BUT IT IS TOO LONG WAY TO DO THAT. UNDER PROPERTY THERE IS A DURATION BUT IT IS NOT ACTIVE SO THAT I CAN ADD MORE HOURS TO FIT.

Hello, in your video you use a red circle feature surrounding your cursor to highlight stuff. Does Openshot have a feature that you can use similarly to highlight a person or object in a video, I use the term spot shadowing. If so, is there a tutorial I can look at? Thank you.
I'm using OpenShot on Linux Mint 20.2, and a clip in the preview window has a wide black bar before and after the clip. When clip is saved, and played using VLC the bars are still there. The older version I was using did not have these bars. Anyway to make it fit the preview window?

When I played a video in the preview, the audio sounded like slow-motion. Pitched down really deep. My camera shoots 4K at 25fps. Is there something wrong in the settings? It's version 3.0.0 Win64
When i open the software,the timeline tracks are all compressed to the bottom and can barely work,i can pill it a bit but if i go more it take half screen.,is my only complaint and cant figure out how to fix it look nice like yours
I have just started using openshot again after about a year and I find there's a frame round the preview window for adjusting the window how do I remove it.
I installed 18.5 and whenever I drag a video down to the timeline I get a blue transition bar that I have to get rid of. Must be a newer "feature." Really annoying.
Openshot is really buggy for me. I want to fade my music out but i can't. It keeps forcing me to use 100% volume. I can't use 20% somehow. When I click it it starts to increase the volume from the beginning of the music till 100% and then at the timestamp it decreases. But 100% is way too loud. I want to fade out from 20 to 0, not from 100 till 0. Do you have an idea how this works? Or anyone else?
I'm finding Openshot frustrating to learn, and I'm not sure it does what I need. I can't see where to fast forward a clip, and I can't see any text option that allows you to vary the number of lines of text, or where they are placed on screen. The title options seem pretty fixed and limited in their presentation. Am I missing something? I'm trying to upload game tutorials and playthroughs, and I need to be able to both show, and quickly get past the boring parts, and I need to be able to overlay explanatory text without obscuring the crucial action on the screen. Also, if my gameplay has voiceover included I need to be able to edit out coughs or vocal blips. I don't see any way to separate/display audio so I can extract those moments without slicing the video clip. Please help! I need an open source text editor, but I also need it to be simple. I'm very poor and I have a very weak old laptop that is all I have to work with. I can't use DaVinci as it's so huge it crashed my computer. Do you have any other editor suggestions if Openshot isn't right for me?

Try blender, it's open source, largely for 3d animation but also has a video editing functionality
