When you ordered the 4 belt kit were the 1x825 belts toothed or solid, I’ve been advised they need to be solid because they are tensioned on the internal edge, Tia
To be honest I cannot remember as it was 4 years ago and I don't have the Talbot anymore. Try the TOC Talbot Owners Club on the Internet. Or contact Coastal Motorhomes who supply the parts for Talbots. George
So I'm looking at your belt change vudoe I have a phew questions, your belts that go right next to each other are they the water pump belts?? Are they flat..or v shapped. Was it necessary to remove the pull..
Thanks for the vid. My water pump belt (I think) next to the alternator started squeaking today on my 2l petrol Talbot autosleeper. Am I best to look for a tensioner bolt similar to yours under the alternator to tighten the belt and see if that stops the squealing? Thanks
Not sure. The engine I believe is a Peugeot Engine. Coastal Motorhomes should be able to help over the phone and answer that question. Give them a call. George
Belts are water pump, Alternator and brake vacuum pump if its a diesel. Belts driven from camshaft. Camshaft turns slower than crank so pulleys increase speed. I sold van over 12months ago so cannot help further but a guy called Paul Glover has a video showing more detail. th-cam.com/video/_I5jRMzO9vQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=YgaMbyZP1VIn2-Mv George
Hi john. Sorry to say you do need to get underneath. But dont need to remove Alternator to change belts. Just slacken off bolts so Alternator can move. Poundland sell cheapo groundsheets. Ideal for wet grass etc. Good luck. Fingers crossed for you it doesnt rain... 👍🤠☔⛈
@@MakeDoAndMend1 Hiya pal, well I managed it, I've just been to the van n whipped it off, I managed to do it all from the top, just a few dodgy arm positions and potential knuckle scrapers. I needed it off as it's knackered, taking it to an auto electrics place near home that do refurbs tomorrow. Do you know much about these vans? The wipers only worked on the fastest setting and for only about 15 percent of the journey home. Bought the van yesterday from Huddersfield and drove it back Preston with the battery light on stupidly and tempermental wipers, not fun. Konked out on the m60 in all that rain haha.
Wipers. Well they have a common problem. Remove wiper arms. The remaining shafts that are threaded have rubber seals prize them out with a pointed nail, or jewels screwdriver. Then there is clips to remove. Soak in oil the shafts. Try and pull shafts in and out back and forward with mole grips. They rust up when vehicle is left for long periods of time without use. Symptom is fuse blowing, burning out wiper motor etc. To check them is another way. Pull arms away from windscreen. Wriggle one wiper arm left to right. The other arm should move. If not rusted up shafts.
Any chance any1 can add the sizes of the belts and which part they are for as I think I will have to purchase these separately as I can’t find them as a kit coastal saying out of stock
Sorry I dont have the info. Also sizes prlinted on belts have now worn off. You could ask the question on TOC which is the Talbot Owners Club forum. Cheers from old George
The Alternator has a sliding tensioner bracket slacken off all three Alternator bolts and the alternator will move back and forth on the sliding bracket. Which is on the bottom bolt on Alternator visible under bumper underneath van.
You didn't really show us anything!!
Correct. I am not a mechanic but thought I mentioned in video who to watch for more details.
@@MakeDoAndMend1 I'm not a mechanic George just show us what nuts and bolts you are undoing, otherwise no point doing a video.
