Conti is an intelligent guy. Very interesting to hear his thoughts behind these classic scores. The Right Stuff, Karate Kid, Rocky, North and South, all brilliant.
My absolute favorite score to any movie. This was as integral to the story of The Karate Kid as was the script and characters. Yeah Bill you still had me at the 11th reel.
Magical Score!! When these tracks played in Cobra Kai, something just filled me up...Mixture of nostalgia, longing and a profoundly deep feeling. Seeing Daniel looking out of his car reminiscing his time in Okinawa with Mr. Miyagi and Kumiko was so touching. Without any exaggeration, Karate Kid story made day to day life into such a deep and profound spiritual experience and gave meaning to Master Disciple relationship. Cobra Kai did a miracle, after so many years, by continuing that essence with Johnny & Miguel. Karate Kid was about ancient eastern wisdom of Mr. Miyagi and Cobra Kai is about Johnny struggling and reviving himself after years of suffering and teaching the next generation through prism of his experience and in his own western style.
Avildsen/Conti is synonymous with Spielberg/Williams...just wish they did more movies. But, Rocky and the Karate Kid are two of the best sports related films ever made!! Purely iconic and they wouldn't end up so good, without Conti's soundtracks.
If the script speaks to the reason... the music of a movie is supposed to speak with the emotions of the viewer... and when this is in alignment you have a movie that it is not bound by time... a CLASSIC... this happen with Karate Kid !!!!
The “Karate Kid I” opening theme music when their first moving to Florida in their station wagon is priceless for me & warms my Heart ❤️ completely just gives me positive vibes 😊 I was born in 1977 so i was only 7yrs old when “Karate Kid I” came out but it became more apparent to me as i came into my pre teens or even 11 & 12. All three “Karate Kid” movies 🎥🍿 are awesome & are from my childhood.
Ronaldo Sanchez Yes they have incorporated some of the music from the original movie. Personally As soon as I heard the first keys I knew it was from the movie and I was six again
1:42 Great example of taking you from A to B musically - we're in the west so here's some Aaron Copland "Americana" for you. Bill Conti has a really direct way of dressing his thoughts in words.
The history must re write again about Mr Bill Conti , I think he doesn't discovered enough . He is a legend not less than John Williams or hanz zimar .
The pan flute isn't an Asian instrument, but it still works. "Main title", the first piece from The Karate Kid 1 used to be my least favorite tracks from The Karate Kid scores, but at around the 3:08 mark to the end of the track is really beautiful and sad.
There's a hundred reasons why the Cobra Kai TV series cant hold a candle to the first two Karate Kid movies, and Bill Conti's music is one of the bigger reasons.
Without a quality music score the film would never had been such a hit. The actors owe so much to the music.
Yup! I've always said that about Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Back to The Future also
@@spice_krispies Absolutely. The music composers just NEVER get the credit they deserve
Pat and Ralph’s excellent performances...really made the movie a American culture icon too.

I agree. A lot of people overlook this score when thinking about great scores, but it is absolute amazing. My favorite by a long shot.
Bill Conti is a brilliant music composer!
Love Bill Conti, wish he did more soundtracks.
The music was just beautiful and very moving.
Bill conti music as just beautiful with the karate kid trilogy and the rocky saga as well both are very strong for our cinema warriors

Conti is a master of the form.

Simply the best. The music and the film will be appreciated for all time, as will the Rocky films with their music.
Respect sir. Conti
Magnificent score.

love the Conti score to the movie. thx
GENIUS!!
Love Bill's music. From KK to Rocky, the guy is outstanding. Funny, he reminds me of a musical Jeff Goldblum in this interview.
Excellent work Mr. Conti

Thank you john and bill! The dream team
Thanks for sharing this wonderful documentary! I hope you don't mind me referring to it in one of my studies!
I now know why the end of Cobra Kai episode 5 was so moving.
Ronaldo Sanchez Yes they have incorporated some of the music from the original movie. Personally As soon as I heard the first keys I knew it was from the movie and I was six again
@@jazcc no shit!
@@jazcc so it wasn't original music?
Almost cried 10 times during this

What a guy.
God bless Zamfir! No one would have played the pan flute better for this soundtrack!
This couldn't have been a 1984 documentary. Probably more like 2000s.

Anyone know if the Paint the Fence song used an english recorder-type flute?
How can I rent it?
To me Mr. Conti is our American 3 Bs Bach Beethoven and Brahms - throw in Beethoven and Mozart

What's the end credits music?
Daniel’s miracle in B flat
That and just basically ripping everything you did on Rocky off. 😂
