Ruri you probably should mention that you have special attacks after dodge and one of them is good gap closer. Also tip, if you parry too early or kemono miss you best is cancel the long animation after parry with the fly with pressing triangle.
Foreal man it seems like every wagasa vid is missing that part of the weapon lol also parry to just triangle is a good way to move around to dodge attacks
Rurikhan i love you. I started playing this game completely blind the other day aside from knowing "it's like MH", with my MH bud. He picked up the Maul at the start, and I was like, oh hey, Umbrella, neat. So he winds up getting these big damage numbers, and I'm like, well these numbers are ok, they add up, but they're not like what he's seeing when he does his big shit all over the monster attacks. Knew there was the parry, but then also just like, couldn't get it working, didn't understand what it wanted from me with a parry, didn't see parry actually having any affect or seeming like I was landing it, barely understood that the gauge was increasing my power, but didn't know about the combo after parry (w/o hit) and going into a throw, I've just been using it as an aerial weapon mostly. But now I understand more about what's up with this weapon, and I'm confident that I can make it work even if I'm not a parry god.
This is the most satisfying weapon I’ve tried so far. It’s like a combination of my three favorite weapons in MH, LS foresight Counters + dual blades high speed attacks + insect glaive aerial mobility all in one pimped up package.
I finally got to try this weapon and its a LOT of fun, I love the movement and the aerial combat a ton. And I actually was able to reach the Talisman across the large gap on the top left of the first map with having only defeated the first Kemono. Just 2 boxes and a spring and the dash got me across, although getting the zipline would've made that trivial XD
I am late to the party cause i wanted to finish the game first before watching content on youtube. I am a Wagasa main and I STAND Celestial Anchor (I used to not even use any Katakuri till one of the last Kemono, then i stand spring but after that I became enlightened), it is simply the superior spring. it travels the same distance but can be used in any direction at ANY given moment even mid combo or even after a parry. it might take some getting use to but it's worth learning it.
I love the wagasa, but the parry window is too tight for actual play (imho), and it's made a bit worse by being on a trigger. I need to get access to the game again to see what effects it would have on controls if you can move it to a button. I think the window is just too tight for me to use the weapon though.
Just mentioning here for reference, but there is weapon skill in the game that can increase the parry window called "Dodge Master". Currently at early game I have it at 20% and it already makes quite a difference. I've seen in other videos that it can go as high as 50%.
@@Chaos2Frozen I may revisit the wagasa at some point if get a talisman with that skill on it and/or a set that would help. Damage seems a bit low on it too, but I am coming from nodachi. I'll try it again at some point for sure!
@@ericsaari2901 damage at low charge is a little weak but at max charge your attacking super fast and getting good damage in Its definitely heavily reliant on building your gauge/parrying but is also super rewarding when u do parry
I was kinda curious if the game even had a counter-heavier weapon like lance or such, but it seems my questions are answered. Probably still gonna wait for a better time/price frame
Maybe because ur old my guy facts!! XD same here. IG main let me tell u this is what IG coukd look like if it had a good parry feature enjoying this weapon a lot we should really learn how to properly aerial atk since alot of moves deems to have big grounded hit boxes but aerial hit boxes are small which would be cool for parry. Forget about optimal rotation this weapin is about style and free form movement exploring this is going to make this a great weapon.
Im having a hard time with this weapon, specifically parrying. When i parry, right before i get hit, i get hit, i found it more effective as youre getting hit, but I still can land it
The man who complained about insta block timing can pull off consistent parries with the wagasa? I think I’ll be just fine. Looks like I found my main. Thanks Ruri!
This Weapon is an absolute guilty pleasure of mine. I like using it, but most of the time I get cucked by the kemonos. Almost every time i managed to build up the gauge, the kemono runs away. But i'll try again with the wall dive, looks pretty viable. Also funny that I completed the game without knowing about hunters arm.
I have tried all starting weapons and wagasa is kind of trash. Tight parry window, no damage without full gage and fast drain. Maybe down the line it becomes better but why you would like to suffer for the first chapter or something?
You always use different weapons for different monsters. Use slashing weapons against monsters weak to slash and piercing on monsters weak to pierce damage, for example.
Just got the game and man the parry is so wonky cause of the monster hit box. I have better chance turning around and parrying than parrying them head on. Hammer is like ez mode compared to this weapon lol.
My issue with it is that the monster hit boxes on their attacks can be utterly janky beyond belief. It's not fair to expect that kind of pinpoint timing of the player when the monster's point blank attack may not even land correctly due to a 5 inch incline.
The Wagasa isn't for me ^^, untill i get the claw blade i'll stick with the bow i love it did the King Tusk in 2min 50 sec with the bow :D Anyway still a great guide with superb Time stemps
I'm ashamed to say that I probably won't main the wagasa because the very initial damage it has on monsters (atleast for me) are very low, hitting most as 1 or 5 in damage up until I get the second charge and the third which it then do a bit more but mainly on the spin move. Until I have more materials and access to more umbrellas, I will stick to the hand cannon
I have been having very little issues on pc. Seems to have issues the way ER did where the higher end you go the more issues arise. I am just slightly below min spec on processor, a 2770 super gpu, and 32gig ram. I do have issues with a sound memory leak but that is fixed by just going to town after each hunt.
Wish I could start playing this game and try out this weapon...But god damn this launch is HORRIBLE... Refunded the game. Couldn't even get 10 FPS and the game started to play "MATRIX MODE"....
What's that? PC is the master race? I play this game just fine on my PS5..same with Dead Space, Hogwarts Legacy, and every other game I hear PC players complain about.
I wouldn't mind an umbrella light saber. If one is a elegant weapon from a more civilized age, imagine how fancy I'd be with 8 strapped on a stick.
This actually exists in one of the Star Wars illustrated episodes and it’s as cool as it sounds. I think it’s called Star Wars Visions on D+
@@ryannajail4556 Oooo baby. I'm all for that.
The gauge depleting feels so comfortable coming from switch axe this is my go to weapon for sure, keep up the great work 👍
Haha same here I used to main switch axe. 😂 I was wondering why I love bladed wasaga
Incredibly helpful! Thank you!

Thank you. That was very helpful. I didn't know you could build gauge effectively through dropdown attacks or spring attacks.
Totally going to master this weapon!

This game is phenomenonal, dude. Really hope we get a sequel.
This weapon is the closest thing we got to a shield so it checks out that you’d be a fan lol
Thank you so much for this. I was running my head into a wall to figure out how to get the gauge to full by attacking. Much appreciated!!
Parry to string attacks together the man is big brain thanks sir 👍🏾

Its pretty dang tight, I thought pre buff insta-block in Rise was hard
it's so freaking tight ngl, it's like only 1 frame and the whole animation is just there for other combos. Even tighter than guard point in MHW,

How do you get the other upgrades for the umbrella

It’s way harder in an actual fight, the game is a bit wonky on what you can parry and when you can parry it

Hey! Would you recommend this to an SNS user since you can technically use airborne attacks with SNS and parry using two wirebugs?
Tuner (from jinjinx and tuna) is a sns main and he loves the wagasa, so probably yes.
@@rurikhan thanks, I appreciate it
