    I've heard of Square keeping people's money and shutting off accounts when they "thought" that there might be some "sketchy" business going on.

      Yes. They can just deactivate your account one day and hold your money for 90 days to 120 days or God knows when. And their customer service is ridiculous because only thing they can tell you is that they don't know anything ,you have to email the company and wait. They hold my 5k dollars without any explanation. It's a fking joke

    I work Comic Cons selling my art, now that that they’re happening again, I’m stepping up my game. Every piece I sell is unique, so when I make a sale I want to be able to pick that specific item from my site (it’s hosted on godaddy). I work Cons about once every 2-3 months (I need down time to make more product). Which would be more ideal for me, the godaddy or square reader? I don’t want to go for anything too pricey cause I can go up to 6 months without working a Con

      Hello! While the GoDaddy reader offers a lower processing rate, the Square reader's offline mode can be a lifesaver when you're working a convention with a bad signal & pricey WiFi, plus Square offers better support, stability & features, thus the Square reader gets the overall edge here. To learn more about Square's reader, check out our full review: www.merchantmaverick.com/reviews/square-credit-card-reader-review/.

    In London recently it was difficult to even buy a beer without using contactless card readers. We are so far behind Europe in no touch card readers. Why?

    • @MerchantMaverick
      @MerchantMaverick  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey Wurz! You are absolutely spot on. Even EMV/chip cards became the standard in Europe much earlier than in the US for a variety of reasons, mainly due to differences in standards and regulations... The answer to your question probably lies in the fact that Europe has a long-standing head-start in POS payment technology over the US and we're still playing catch-up.
      This Guardian article from 2014 discusses some of the reasons why this was the case at the time. Basically, eight years later, Europe is still ahead of us!

    What I want to know is if any of these credit card readers are compatible or can be used with online banking such as Novo, Lilly, Mercury and others...

      Hello! Thanks for watching. You will need a bank account of some kind or another to accept card payments with one of the credit card readers mentioned in this video.
      So as long as your online banking provider offers a full range of banking services, you should be able to receive payments into that account from the merchant services provider you signed up with to get one of the card readers discussed in the video. We hope this helps!

      Hi Pineapple Photo Booth! If you mean just taking a credit card payment one time ever then it's probably not worth getting a reader. Instead, you can open a free Square account and plug it in via a virtual terminal or wait to receive the free magstripe reader. It's not the cheapest transaction fee, but there's no overhead in terms of monthly fees or hardware costs! Check out our guide sharing everything you need to know about opening a Square account: www.merchantmaverick.com/set-up-square-account/. We hope this helps!

      Hi Scott!
      If it's through your employer, you're kind of at the mercy of whatever payment processor they are using--Knowing which one would be helpful.
      But if you want to accept tips on the side, you may want to consider a P2P app like Venmo or Cash App. Hope that helps!

I JUST FOUND Yesterday that they refunded the customer's money almost $500 without calling me out calling me they emailed me once I had emailed them back and missed their next email and they refunded the customers full of the customers full amount after I worked on their house 2 times for 3 hours!! Square one and your bank will not give you a phone call to make sure that you're OK with refunding whatever amount a customer disputes they will just take it! @@MsJustForFun1291 So is PayPal. Amazon does the same thing. If you're so worried about it then don't take credit/debit card payments. You could go with a Patreon shop which has a paywall, totally free to setup and add your files or services to (maximum file size at 200 MBs each). You can create all sorts of tiers for whatever granular level of features you want to offer to subscribers for tangible and digital items or services.
