The Beat were indeed a fantastic band and rated better than the Specials by a lot of music critics etc... Yes mate,the granddaughter sleeps through the night 👍👍👍
Hi Nick, always great to see the Beat. Definitely my favourite of the UK ska bands. I wasn’t aware of General Public, so will check them out. I’ve seen Dave Wakelin’s Beat a couple of times, both good shows. Hopefully will get a chance to see Rankin Junior’s version at some point. Rankin Roger did a great version of Rock the Casbah with the Clash, which if you haven’t heard is well worth giving a listen to. Andy

I really need to make a list of folk to give a shout-out to,I like to try and give a helping hand,like folk have done to me. I do know facts and figures and band history etc... Mike but my recollection memory etc... is bloody awful at times. I'm supposed to be doing a Two-Tone ska thing on Jimmy Barnes channel. I had to put it off last year because of the arrival of the granddaughter. I need to rearrange it but I'm just worried about forgetting stuff and making an arse of myself 😳 There had better be some copies of CARS at the Leeds fair !!!

The Beat is my favourite SKA band..And well said about them not getting as much credit. General Public and Fine Young Cannibals were just awesome as well. The song "Tenderness" was a huge dance club hit in San Francisco back in the day. The composition of is pretty sophisticated too. What a wonderful collection of albums you have there. I have never seen Rankin Rogers' own version of The Beat lps until now. I understand Rankin Rogers also sang with Mick Jones in Big Audio Dynamite for a short time. I follow one of the channels you shouted out and will check out the other two for sure. Really enjoyed watching. Good luck with the competition and thanks for this excellent video.

Hi Nick, I'm sitting here on Saturday afternoon wondering why there are no new VC videos for me to watch. So I'm grateful for this one. Also I'm wondering why I recognize so few people on the VC these days. It happens from time to time. I guess people just find other stuff to do. Anyway, I'll check out those two channels you mention here. Impressive collections of records by The Beat. I don't think I've got a complete collection of any particular artist. I get close I suppose but I think I'd get sad if I realized there was nothing else to hear from a favorite band or artist. There is an album by David Bowie that I've decided I'll probably not get for a while just because there'd be nowhere else to go after. Cheers
I suppose Saturdays mean shopping with the mrs,football and other sports etc... and then there's out on the lash on a Saturday evening. Being a widower with grown up kids and an ever growing disdain for football,I don't have the family commitments that a lot of folk have,so I have time for music listening and doing a video. Having more new faces showing up in the VC can only be a good thing I suppose ??? The trouble with wanting the complete discography of certain bands is record companies cashing in on fans addictions and releasing limited editions etc.... us as fans feel obliged to pay through the nose for the latest record store day or anniversary edition etc... I just plod along and buy that missing jigsaw piece if and when I want,not when the powers that be say so. Glad to be of service on this saturday afternoon 👍👍👍
