    Hi I just bought this. How do I torque a seat post to 7 nm? I see 8-4-0, 6-2-0, 5-3-0. No 7.

    Thanks Travis, I didn’t realize that I shouldn’t use my tongue wrench to loosen. Super helpful

    Thanks Travis. I have the original kickstarter version and have since updated it to the larger torque attachment. Was there any other beneficial changes on the newer version 2 style I should be aware of?

    What happens when you use a torque wrench to loosen bolts

    0:07 Just got one. My Cannondale Topstone axle bolts cite max 11nm. 8 feels tight. Your advice?

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We recommend following manufacturers specs where possible. I'd check with Cannondale as to what grease they're recommending that torque, also make sure you're using lubricant under the head of the axle as well as on the threads which will maximize tension for a given torque, but is also critical in loosening the axle at some future point.

    I've received three of your Ratchets from customer service, after the first once had a faulty ratcheting mechanism, the second and third one did too. I now have three ratchets that do not work, I never received a refund, your sales service has just stopped answering my mails. Fair warning: Do not buy inferior Silca products.

    Hi there. The bolts to tighten my saddle a fairly close to the post making it impossible to get a torque wrench on the bolts. Will the Silca solve my problem? It doesn’t look as bulky, I’m hoping it does

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The T-Ratchet and Ti-Torque can be configured a ton of different ways to reach bolts that others can't so it will likely be the tool you are looking for.

    Would the the Torque Wrench calibration go off if i have it in a saddle bag and ride hard on trails with all the vibrations?

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, this is one of the only torque tool designed unaffected by vibration or temperature, it is extremely robust and can even be used underwater!

    What they they DID NOT SAY IN THAT DEMO WAS ALL TORQUE WRENCH SHOULD BE RESET AFTER USE TO O RELIEVING THE STRAIN ! Cheers Brian

    • @SILCAVelo
      @SILCAVelo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Brian, You are correct, typical torque wrenches do require that reset; however, our Ti Torque has a "live" beam which automatically resets to 0 when not in use. If you start to see that is not the case, it means the Ti Torque has been over-torqued and may need to be replaced. Thank you for sharing your insight.

    I’m am still trying to understand the action of the torque wrench. I see that when you tighten there seems to be a spring that shows the level of resistance when the arrow moves towards the numbers scattered in three different places on the barrel torque end. The problem I am having is that the torque can go higher if you are not careful. I’ve searched for more videos but it seems you are the only one who shows the action of the spring on the barrel . Is there no place to set the torque? I thought the tool would act to prevent you from going over what’s set. I have crushed a seat collar in the past and wish I had a torque wrench but if this is how it works then I could have crushed it anyways

      So there are two types of torque tools, Torque Measuring, and Torque Limiting. Our tool is torque measuring, this is how beam type tools work as well as digital torque tools. In our case, when the mark is aligned with the torque number, you are at that torque, digital tools work exactly the same and typically you can read the number in real time and will also get a beep when you hit the number. These tools are typically more accurate, but harder to use, and take more patience than torque limiting tools.
      Torque limiting tools will have a ratchet or break-away joint inside them that gives you a click when they release. These are much simpler and faster to use, but come with their own issues. Mainly, they are affected by temperature, moisture, and contamination. As they also limit torque by the sliding of two bits of metal against each other with some lubricant in between, they will vary in actual torque if you click it repeatedly. You can try this with a torque limiting drill on any sort of fastener. You tighten until it clicks and you are technically at that torque. But if you keep going, you will see the fastener continue to turn, as the continued clicking creates heat lowering the viscosity of the grease in the ratchet interface which increases the friction within the ratchet which makes the torque at which is clicks go up.. as a result, most click type torque tools are intentionally shipped from the factory set below the target torque. We've got a video planned on this in the next few months so stay tuned!

    Why are there no instructions in the box, like on the back of the box maybe? Or when ordering as what language the consumer would like the instruction sheet in.

      Hey Drew, each package should have a information card that will direct you to an online manual for the T-Ratchet Ti Torque Kit. Here is the link to the page: silca.cc/pages/silca-ti-torque-manual
      We apologize for any inconvenience, if your T-Ratchet and Ti Torque kit did not include this information. Hopefully the above link helps.

      @@SILCAVelo yes but why should I have to go on line when I have the product in my hand. Why would I want to go to another destination. I want to use the tool not get on line.. It was the same thing with the nano chain wax. Again I had to go on line and watch a video when I already had the package in my hand... Having information and or directions on the package is very basic, I would think. I've bought three things from your company, all expensive premium products. None of them have come with instructions. It seems this must be some sort of business strategy. And it is awful to make your customers run in circles on the internet to try and figure out how to properly use the product that we purchased.
