Is the trim against the soffit that is flush with the bricks 1x3.5” . Is that a common size to use for the trim? Also what type fasteners do you use for the cement board? Thanks
Thanks for the note. Yes, that is a 1x4 up against the brick. There is a 2x4 behind it to nail into. Soffit is best installed using a fluted screw that is galvanized or stainless steel. Galvanized siding nails are acceptable in most cases as well.
Hi there, it sounds as if you just don't have much of an overhang. To expand the amount of soffit, the roof itself has to be extended out, which is usually difficult because of angle of roof. Generally folks in your predicament try something completely different such as adding an awning structure over the windows. It's a little difficult to give much of an opinion without seeing a photo, feel free to send to us at info@brightwingcustom.com and we'll give it a shot.
I currently have soffits that animals can easily push up and under in Michigan. Can i put trim over the channels. Brick home?

My problem is the soffit space is tiny allowing the windows to get very wet when it rains
Can one increase the amount of soffit in an existing house?
