I too thought that scene was Debra hill, now that you pointed out that it was an editor’s mistake or just added by the editor, it makes more sense of why I didn’t think the shape had shrunk in that scene. I was ten years old when that movie came out and I saw five minutes of it in the theatre before I got kicked out. It was the scene when bob got killed in the kitchen and I jumped when the audience had screamed, I was twice as scared when the usher tapped my shoulder and asked me to leave. lol. I can understand how the idea of Debra Hill playing the shape in that scene started as the documentary is a little sloppy and left room for interpretation and people jumped to conclusions. I can't understand how anyone could still continue to think that's the case now with everything cleared up and all the evidence against it.
Thanks for making this video, Sean! I think it’s pretty clear that Debra didn’t play the Shape in that particular shot. This isn’t a “he said, she said” thing since Debra herself never said she was in that shot in the movie. It all comes down to how the insert shot was used in the documentary, which doesn’t prove anything. I’m glad you pointed out that other part in the documentary where Tommy Lee Wallace talks about the street in Hollywood while the documentary shows a scene that was shot in Pasadena. All of this shows how editors can make mistakes or just want to put in some insert shots to make whatever they’re editing seem more interesting.
Great cinematic historical research and debunking! Love how you went to primary sources and got the real events and facts. The Shape was played by primarily (only) Three people: Nick Castle the main Shape, Jim Winburn (Stunt off the balcony), and Tony Moran as the unmasked Michael Myers. I do not count Will Sandin as he the young Myers. Great research that is needed here. BTW~ The Trekism theory is most correct. I know many of them in the documentary I participated in Bill Shatner's "Get A LIfe".
Thanks for clearing this up Sean. I'll admit, up until now, because of the Debra Hill interview, I thought that was her in Shape costume for that scene.

Great video. I always heard that it was Debra's hands grabbing the kitchen knife in the opening scene. I do have two additional questions. Who played The Shape when the Annie's German Shepard was killed ? I always heard conflicting stories on that particular scene. Also, who played Michael Myers parents when young Michael steps out in front of the house? I never saw any screen credit regarding the actors that played his parents. Keep up the good work. Thanks.
Debra actually does say they were her hands. It might have been the first time they did commentary (that weird dvd where they all did separate audio clips), or it was a documentary. She definitely said it though.

It's right up there with the on-going debate on whether Shape mask worn by Warlock was the one worn by Nick. Nicks supposedly lent them his mask for the sequel (and never got it back) but even he can't confirm that Warlock was wearing his mask.
@@manuelotero4927 I don't know where that story came from because both Debra Hill and Nick Castle have said in separate interviews that Debra called Nick to offer him the chance to play the Shape again and he turned it down. I know Tommy Lee did the first mask conversion giving birth to the myers mask but did don post studios convert the kirk masks used on screen? I watched a podcast with Don post the other day and he spoke about doing the captain kirk conversions for the movie.
I think it could be easy to disguise her size in that shadow especially when you can't see the shape's legs there (though her shoulder width would be smaller so I dunno) but I'm going with your conclusion since it makes the most sense.

Hey Sean, I have mystery I hope you can solve, in 1987 there was a contest called the "Be in my Nightmare sweepstakes" it was a contest where if you win you get to have a walk on role in "A Nightmare on elm street part 4 - The Dream Master", it has been killing me for years to know who won, I have looked at everything online, but I can't find anything on who won, maybe you know someone who used to work at New Line Cinema you can ask, or better yet maybe Freddy Krueger himself Mr. Robert Englund, just help a Brotha out man.
on top of all this proof debra was 5'3, that silhouette is obviously someone whos tall and lanky, plus it was debras hand that grabbed the knife as young myers so u can still say to some degree she played the shape, some folks just live to be argumentative
If you look at the silhouette it seems smaller but it can be easily explained simple the camera looking out the window of Tommy Doyle house POV as camera isn't zooming in on the shape standing there, the distance plays a key factor this why many assume it was Debra Hill in that scene in the costume,if it was her it wasn't her in that scene it doesn't bother me as it shouldn't bother anyone, rest in peace Debra Hill even with Unmasked documentary my most favorite documentary is Halloween 25 years of terror and Sean amazing work going to locations of films that many of us can't see.Take care everyone.
I honestly think the editor of the documentary just needed a shot of trick or treaters that happened to include the shape in them just for an example of what she wanted to shoot.

It is unbelievable to me that a grown ass man has to put together a video debunking some nonsensical rumor to appease "adults" with absolutely nothing better to do with their lives than argue about a deceased producer wearing a costume in one shot of a movie 44 years ago. God bless ya.
Really not that different than sports fans arguing over fantasy matchups of past teams that never happened. I could sit there and say, "you really have nothing better to do with your time than argue if Lebron is really as good as MJ." Or counting the seconds to see how long Buster Douglas was really on the canvas in the Mike Tyson upset from 32 years ago? Yeah movie fanatics can tend to get more obsessive and nerdy. But its still more or less the same thing.

I agree with Sean that this whole debate is ridiculous. It should of never been a thing. Whomever the silhouette belonged to is immaterial to the creepiness of the shot. The shot worked regardless of who's silhouette it was, and that's what matters at the end of the day.
Thanks for clearing this up, Sean. It makes sense that she is not Michael in the film except for the opening scene, I just don't think it would have worked with Debra in the mask. Hopefully people will believe you and get on with their lives. You think Star Trek and Halloween fans are wacky acting so are the ones for Star Wars Lol
Great Video! definitely wasn't Deborah you can see from the size and shape of "the shape" in that shot that its Nick. People will try and keep the argument alive but there is no argument to have she wasnt the shape in any scene! She was a driving force behind the movie and doesnt get enough credit but she wasnt the shape.
I believe Sean. He knows his stuff. I'd prefer to hear what he has to say than some random person who spreads rumours. I love you Sean and I hope you are having a good day
Hard to believe you made a video about this. I’m sure it’s appreciated that you did by many people, but it would be RIDICULOUS (there I said it) to think the 5’ Debra Hill was ever on screen as the 6’+ Michael Myers. Some people think that perspective shots like looking at Myers from across the street could be completed with an actor of any height; that’s a logic problem. Debra Hill would have looked even smaller and therefore the shot would have tricked the eye to make her appear further away because she’s shorter (by A LOT). Since the house and other objects are a fixed size, it would have looked like a tiny person in The Shape suit. Based on perspective alone, it’s clear Michael Myers in the shot is 6’+ regardless of it being a 1st unit Carpenter shot (which ultimately answers the question and Castle said). These sorts of arguments or debates really can be squashed before they start if people just think it through.
Ugh I wish that guy would release that 18 hours. Maybe instead of them repackaging the same shit over and over over they could make what fans really want which would be all the unused footage from Halloween.

Thanks Sean for giving a nice detailed account to put this to rest!! You are the man!! 🫵🏽🙏🏽🎃 now about that rumor that the kid who played young Micheal Myers was a clown in Killer Klowns from outer space!!🤪🤓🤯🤡 😂
Sean,,, just wondering out of all the hallweeen releases over the years what colour timing is your favourite,,,, it seems to change again and again and I would love to know which release you think has the best colour timing overall
I know Tommy Lee did the first mask conversion giving birth to the myers mask but did don post studios convert the kirk masks used on screen? I watched a podcast with Don post the other day and he spoke about doing the captain kirk conversions for the movie.
Really? Can't wait to watch now!
I think it could be easy to disguise her size in that shadow especially when you can't see the shape's legs there (though her shoulder width would be smaller so I dunno) but I'm going with your conclusion since it makes the most sense.
Great video. Until I watched TTWTH video with TLW I also believed was Debra, simply cause people said it was. To my point (will take lot of editing) but will be SUPER COOL (and helpful) lot people unless diehards probably don't even know. But a video of Texas 2 Tom instead of Bob and Bob versus Bill. Texas 3 what shots Kane vs RA, Friday 6 CJ vs Dan Bradley. Friday V Johnny H vs Tom scenes and etc...I'd love that vid!!!!!
I thought it was from another documentary from a few years ago Halloween the inside Story. They also talked about 6 people playing Michael Myers. They showed the outside scene. I could be wrong though
I know exactly who that is standing there in that shadowy scene near the house across the street.
Michael Meyers. And isn't that good enough?
Really enjoyed
on top of all this proof debra was 5'3, that silhouette is obviously someone whos tall and lanky, plus it was debras hand that grabbed the knife as young myers so u can still say to some degree she played the shape, some folks just live to be argumentative
This was cool. 👍
Sean, why did TLW say the H1 and H2 hero mask was not the same ?
You would have to ask him.
Hey Sean, that's a really cool drum head. None of my Remo's look like that lol
I always thought that rip taylor was the shape in that scene. Rumor has it he left a confetti trail behind.
I honestly think the editor of the documentary just needed a shot of trick or treaters that happened to include the shape in them just for an example of what she wanted to shoot.
Met you at Pensacon on the second day as Michael I was wondering how I can become a horror monster. I'm 6'5 and 280lbs solid. How can I find jobs like this
sign up to character casting agencies as an extra. Also reach out to local films being made, they may need a 'heavy' on screen.
Halloween fans are like Trekies of Horror world. Great analogy. I know she played young Michael Myers hands
Great show! I’m curious, have you ever spoken to John Carpenter?
Many times. Asking him details like this are usually pointless. He likes to just say he doesn’t remember.
Can we now see them pictures that you couldn’t show or does the original owner still says no ? Who owns them pictures ?
Young Myers hand grabbing the knife at the beginning I believe is Debra's hand so technically she played Michael
This evil rumor dies tonight!!!!!
LOL
I've tried to explain this to people also but they're thick headed. It was clear they never used the footage.
Good post but when I heard TL Dub refute this rumour that’s all I needed. He seems like a solid man of integrity.
You're a god damn liar! 😂😂 I honestly did not know this rumor was a thing till I saw this video. Either way, thanks for clearing this up Sean. Love the channel.
This extra stuff pictures and stuff I hope we could see it one day I think the fans would pay to buy things I know I would I love Halloween all the movies thank you Sean
I agree with Sean that this whole debate is ridiculous. It should of never been a thing. Whomever the silhouette belonged to is immaterial to the creepiness of the shot. The shot worked regardless of who's silhouette it was, and that's what matters at the end of the day.
Then why did you even watch this video if you don’t care who is it?
Thanks for clearing this up, Sean. It makes sense that she is not Michael in the film except for the opening scene, I just don't think it would have worked with Debra in the mask. Hopefully people will believe you and get on with their lives. You think Star Trek and Halloween fans are wacky acting so are the ones for Star Wars Lol
Great video Sean, people really have to take it easy with their opinions regarding little things that don't really matter.
Yes, i do hope i can see those bts photos someday
Great Video! definitely wasn't Deborah you can see from the size and shape of "the shape" in that shot that its Nick. People will try and keep the argument alive but there is no argument to have she wasnt the shape in any scene! She was a driving force behind the movie and doesnt get enough credit but she wasnt the shape.
I believe Sean. He knows his stuff. I'd prefer to hear what he has to say than some random person who spreads rumours. I love you Sean and I hope you are having a good day
Russler's face right now be like 🤬
Who is Russler?
Is it really that much of an issue? Seriously, Debra was tiny...clearly would look like a child in a mask and their dad's coveralls.
Agreed.
If I had known my question to Tommy would illicit this much bullshit I 100% would have asked again because I love seeing these toxic "fans" out themselves.
Well...that was stated in the COMMENTARY by John Carpenter.
Clearly the shot is Nick Castle!
EXACTLY!!!! Thank You & Dave McRae For finally putting that baby to bed so to Speak!! 👍💯🤘😊👏👏👏👏👏🎃🎃🔪🩸👤
Yes the hands that picked the knife in opening scene was her.
Her hand appears as young Michael's in the shot where young Michael gets the knife out of the drawer to kill his sister.
She clearly stated herself that she did the POV scenes in the opening of the original movie. That’s it. Period.
Kinda silly someone owns these photos and won’t share them with everyone. It’s not like it’s going to ruin the movie for anyone.
