Does he ever catch waves or just bully people??? Bullies=Weak and fragile egos. Once you stand up to them they’ll usually never repeat that mistake again…
Do these local muppets ever surf elsewhere, where they are no longer locals and become the visitor? Total tools in my opinion. Localism died when everyone become mobile over 50 years ago.
Oy bruno, next year I am coming down to Tamarin Bay with 10 of my mates for a surf trip. I have heard that you guys love to share to waves over there. I can't wait!
This is why Ive heard these guys from tamarin is a bunch of kooks, they got a world class wave in their backyards and do not even know how to get barreled properly. It is what happens when you only watch your folks to surf, we get stuck in a low level. They do not see diffents approachs on the waves, something that was impossible for the local crew sometimes a foreign make it possible and the locals start doing the same. Here is when the evolution happens. If wasnt for "haoles" probably the tube in pipeline was still considered a impossible one. Not because the locals do not have skills, but someone just showed a different approach to surf to them. Maybe this is the reason why in reunion we see a guy ripping as Jeremy Flores and we never heard any decent surfer from mauritius. The locals think they are winning with this coward hassle on kids (as the other videos) but at the end of the day, they are just missing the whole point of surfing.
For the info, they are not really Mauritians. We atleast don't consider them Mauritians. They are the offsprings of colonialists. The same that benefited from slavery and now these are their offsprings that are still enjoying the blood money their ancestors piled up.
Aloha from NorCal! My wife is from Mauritius and is trying to convince me to move there. It's a surfing paradise she says. Hmm. By the way I wonder if this Mr. Mauritius guy knows how to fight. Typically guys with big mouths... I wonder if if he can back it up if a real fighter shows up. I also wonder if Mr. Mauritius travels much. Weird world we live in.
that's why I surf a sketchy spot most drive past or pass up because of reef and no lifeguards. plus I love watching people try paddle out and eat shit and leave and never come back. and if anything knuckle up make a friend.
Just got back from Mauritius and scored some good waves, but the same guy in the photo ( heard his name is Bruno ) is a tonsil , i kept getting hassled by the locals ( some are fellow south africans ) to not sit near them being told they dont share there waves. I have surfed in more then 15 different countries and never been hassled so much, would never go back purely because of it.
I tell you when localism is acceptable. The year is 1969. You and your remaining friends return from the Vietnam war with 4 legs between six of you. You walk down to the local break 2 mins from your house and there is someone from 5 mins down the road on your break. You say hello and he cuts up johnny with 0 legs who is riding a bodyboard as part of his rehab. Then you say hello bro we just came back from war would you mind surfing somewhere else please, there used to be 15 of us here now there is only 6, cheers. He politely leaves and paddles 200m down the beach to a different wave. The key here is this situation wont happen nowadays so localism is stupid
Looks like you guys keep showing up filming and exposing this spot to the whole fricken world. No wonder they are pissed. They grey there you flew there! Show some respect.
They "grew" there is what you want to say I guess. Pretty funny considering these are mostly french decendants that have no fucking business "growing" in the Indian Ocean.
A camera at Tamarin lol ! Mistake ! I made this mistake one time... not two ! 🤣 You can surf in Mauritius if you are "under the radar". Locals are rough... yes... but can also be nice... not an easy country for an alien surfer I admit. But you can have wonderful sessions in Mauritius, included at Tamarin. You have to come alone or no more than two when heavy locals are not there. When they're there, not a good idea to go at the peak. And if you meet them and enter in real relationship, you can be accepted by some at the peak, complying with certain rules... Like some places, not doing so can be a risk of taking some beating... I've seen somes... not the same rules as everywhere... but it can be avoided if you know how to deal with it. Not easy.

Once the atmosphere got better, I surfed hours without being bothered. Honnestly I think there is places worst. I clearly don't agree with their methods but it's not my home. So as long as I was complying, it was really ok. A big stress to pass... a kind of intimidation ritual... After all, there is plenty of time I could surf without making a territorial conflict. I made them understand that. That I respect that it's their garden, not mine and that I was not there for conflict. I had plenty of good sessions. Showing disagreement when they intercept you to test you can be very risky as it can end up in a fight. I don't wanna fight. They had their times with their waves I had mine. Ok it's not the good etiquette to me but I came for surfing, not to convince people or make people believe in the way I think is good. So except some stress, I had good sessions and I did not end up knoked out. That was my goal.

Hi Myke, respecting locals is not the issue here, that goes without saying - the issue is that they dont want anyone to surf there at all and try to chase you out the water or down the point, this is nonsense and should not be tolerated. respect is good, works both ways.
Not there amigo, they won’t filter out respectful surfers and let them surf. If they see that you’re not from there, you gonna get expelled in a very unpleasant manner, period.
