I just got this trainer a few days ago and I've tried EVERYTHING but resistance is not responding at all on Zwift. Tried all the troubleshooting tips from Zwift. I was also unable to calibrate it. Resistance does work on My Etraining. Any suggestions? Thanks! Catherine
Very helpful reviews! I watched this and read your 2020-2021 winter trainer review page, super super helpful for someone like me who didn't know where to start. Just ordered the Elite Suito looking forward to give it a go! Thanks a lot!
Exactly. I would Never drag my Kickr Core to a race I have to use rollers to warmup. This also can be set to a specific resistance level at home and used without power out in the car park for warmups. Perfect!
Nice review. My user experience turned out to be very similar. For structural training, Suito is very capable and resistance kicks in very smoothly as opposed to Tacx Neo 2. For ride feel, it’s good but nowhere near the Neo 2 level. Riding on Suito feels too “heavy”. Suito does have native thru-axle support which works well with my 2018 BMC Roadmachine. I have to bodge it with Neo 2. I heard 2t improved on thru-axle support. That’s really a good news as that’s the only real complaint I have with Neo 2. Overall, I am satisfied with Suito.
Why don't they make a charging function in the trainers? like charging you phone, mp3 player, battery packs, at least make some use of the energy generated when exercising.
For a proper functioning KICKR 2018, it'll be quieter than the Suito - not by a ton, but a little bit. Now...whether or not said KICKR is functioning properly, that's a different beast.
I have two units. One has cracking noises, but not all the time. After while it disappear, or maybe I got used to :-). Anyway increase music fix every strange noises:-). ERG mode works fine. I have tried FTP Zwift test with no issues. I have tested Suito with Zwift on Apple TV, iPhone, Mac, everything works OK, pairing is very quickly. What does make some troubles is calibration, sometimes I had to repeat it several times. Best way to have success calibration was increase speed higher, than by Zwift app requested 37km/h. Btw, it is my firt smart trainer. I did not have any oil in neither of units packs.
Very interesting, thanx for your review! Been looking into smart trainers since last year. This might be the one i'll get myself for this winter ☺ One question though: it looks like there is a lot of lateral movement in/around the axle (see ~1:00 and 6:47). Do you consider this normal and how does the Suito compare to other trainers in this point?
The lateral movement best I can tell is actually the unit going side to side, which is generally a good thing (for the bike and the rider). Pretty normal, some trainers are stiffer than others, but this seems like the right amount.
Unfortunately Elite still haven't corrected their power accuracy issues and it's all over the internet (TrainerRoad, Zwift, Elite forums, etc.) people reporting that Elite Suito gives you about 15%-20% lower power numbers. In my own analysis of Elite Suito vs Favero Assioma Uno power readings, I got around 12% lower at 227w/254w; 15% lower at 265w/304w; and 27% lower at 313w/400w (EliteSuito watts / AssiomaFaveroUno watts). This was today, 20th of May 2023. Yes my Elite was calibrated as well as the favero and no there were no updates from Elite software/firmware. Sad really. It's a really good trainer though. Just really really under reports the watts. Take that into account.
@@Frog-ve4kf I could. I tried it using TrainerRoad only, comparing with favero's power. I used Zwift and MyWhoosh in the past and didn't notice much difference from TrainerRoad's presented power from Elite suito. If I find the time I can try to do the same analysis in Zwift, MyWhoosh and/or others, but I doubt I muster the motivation to do that. It's best for me to keep the same power tool indoor and outdoor.
I had this problem too, if you message Elite they can fix this for you. It requires you to test the suito against a power meter and they can calibrate this to the power meter as a control. Makes the trainer work properly, but should work like this out of the box really.
I'm tempted to get a direct drive trainer because my tire slips if I try to do low cadence high force drills, this one looks promising, but I'm not sure if there's a market for second hand smart trainers, so I'm a little concerned about whether or not I'll be able to sell my current trainer.
My 2020 suito arrived Saturday and out of the box there is a loose rattling sound. Sounds more like a bearing ball or screw settling at bottom. I hear it when you tap trainer or move it. I did mount bike and calibrated it to see if flywheel made some noise but seems to be working fine. I do notice trainer is louder than expected but could be chain oil or that it is in garage. Little hard to compare to TH-cam videos. Still disappointed that I spent all this money to receive an out of box trainer with potential issues.
how much difference does it make if the flywheel is lighter than heavier? does that have anything to do with just coasting down hills and does weight play a role? thanks
as far as i know, kicker core flywheel weight is not 7kg, that is for the expensive kickr, the core has 5,4kg i believe, still more then this one of 3kg and something, but yes, for the price very good on this suito. I wonder if wahoo gonna lower the price eventually, this unit price quality is very good i think.
I'd likely go Direto in that case. It's got a power meter in it, and has proven accuracy. It's a little bit slower than Suito in ERG mode (but you can mitigate most of that by using the front ring in ERG mode). Road-feel seems a wash to me.
@@Dcrainmaker I am in the same boat able to get the Direto X and Suito for the same price. Head to head now 6 months later, would you still go for the Direto X over the Suito?
I got one of these trainers and it works out great when I am riding flats but when I try to go on climbs I notice that it cuts my cadence by half. I have a power crank that I connect to the garmin and when comparing numbers the cadence and the power are reduced usually on the steep climbs. I am not sure if it's in the settings or if something else is going on.
great review - good job!!...I'm new to zwifting, but already looking to get a smart trainer. this one is my favorite at the moment to buy, seems to check all the boxes, I also like the wahoo core. Watching the video, I see some side to side flex. I need some advice. I already have an external power meter (Favero Assioma Duo). I'd like to buy the Elite Suito to use for indoor training, especially for TrainerRoad and Garmin Connect workouts. Is it possible to use my Favero Assioma for the power source and the Elite Suito as an ergometer, just in resistance mode or use ERG mode? Thanks!
Instructions say 9 is the lowest, but technically 8 and I think 7 are all the same physical size and they should work as well. You just have to take the cassette off and use the spacers provided, I believe. Will verify this in about a week and a half.
Hi DC Rainmaker, I bought the Elite Suito-T and applied oil onto the 12 speed SRAM casette the bicycle shop installed and delivered. Only problem my 3 lowest gears near the quick release aren't shifting well on the indoor trainer yet they work fine when not connected to the trainer, (it was worse before I added the quick release parts, but still not sounding healthy) any advise please it's been 2 weeks an I'm too scared to start using the trainer.
Great stuff, but.... why don’t these trainers push the power you produce into the wall outlet. I live in the Netherlands and I can plug in (up to) 2 solar panels directly into an outlet and rewind my electric meter. These things would be great sustainability wise if they would put the generated power into the grid right? 😃

I just unboxed my retail unit. It came ahead of global release. There was no lubricant to be found anywhere in the box or on the cassette. Not a big deal. I suppose mixing lubes isn't smart anyways. Suppose your chain is already oiled.
Great video, thanks for the review! Would you recommend this for a 27.5 MTB (1x11 speed) with 148x12 boost? Would the included cassette fit with the chain length that is setup for the bike's Shimano SLX 11 speed? Thanks!
Thanks for review !!Yesterday I ordered a new Direto trainer and today I see that Elite announced a new trainer Suito.I cancelled an order and waiting for some new information about which one is better.Any thoughts?
I just got the Suito, and the ERG mode does some strange things: When I did my ramp test, it held the wattage pretty nicely, but where it should do 350w, it suddenly started giving me 400w. Also in some interval sessions, it gave me way less that it should. Any idea why that could be? I use trainerroad and use the and also have my assioma duos connected. Edit: I also have PowerMatch enabled, maybe that is the issue?
Hi I am choosing between this and the tacx flux s 949 aud and this at 1099 aud with cassette, i am wondering does the extra hill incline 10% vs 15% make a different? which one would you recommend at the price point mention above ? thank you
Not yet. Though, they haven't focused on it. August is mostly vacation time for Elite (like many European companies, and they more or less shut down), then Eurobike last week. This week is the first week for them back at the office in a long while.
It’s been one year since this has been shipping. Are you happy with your choice? If not, what do you wish you had purchased? I ask because I have an opportunity to buy a barely-used one for $600US, before dickering on the price.
In the box thee was a free membership MY E- TRAINING FOR 12 MONTS. I sighed up but The ELITE SUITO is not as one of the home trainers to choose from and wondering if this was a joke.
Desperately need some direction in which way to go. The Suito or the kicker core? Price wise its £60-£70 difference by the time you take into consideration cassette etc.
Just got my Suito for 599€ from Fahrrad XXL in Dresden. Switching from a Tacx Bushido, the first out of the box ride went smooth and was a real joy, no cracking sound so far. Next test will be ERG mode. I got the longer cable, but no oil for the cassette was in the box. I am surprised how solid and stable the unit is. So far, I would say it is a no brainer for that price. Time will show if it holds up.
Second day, second ride and unfortunately the Suito let me down. From begin of riding, the exact same cracking sound, reported from others before, occured. No matter if ERG mode or free ride, no matter how intensive I hit the paddles, the cracking occurs about 70% of riding time. Anybody got experience what exactly causes the problem? Before returning, I would like to test more and see if others were able to fix it.
@@Heidegravelrunner there is a new video on youtube every single day or every couple days, with a defect suito with the knocking sound issue. Return it mte. I wanted to buy one, but it's really everyone who has the problem. We should get a kickr I guess... more money... ;-(
To measure two separate PMs and the trainer, do you need 3 head units, or can Zwift be used to record the trainer power and one head unit per foot or crank power meter?
Yeah, I generally record each power meter/trainer on a separate unit, plus the Zwift recording as a backup. In this case, one of my units failed (errr...I failed to press start), so I ended up using the Zwift data.
I bought a Suito in november and there was a ”rubbing noise” coming from inside the trainer on every revolution of the flywheel. I sent it back and got a new one, same noise. Is this normal?? Has anyone else had this problem? Didn’t hear anything like it in this video. Really a shame because other than that I like the trainer.
DC will this work with an older Shimano 105 7 speed setup if I changed to a 10/11 speed chain? I know I'll only get 7 speeds, but don't want to have to change all the hardware on the bike or purchase a new one. Bike is a Cannondale 1990 model.
Is it good time to point out that usually you lube the chain, no need for casette lube.🤔😉 I sucsest that all soundlevel testing should done single ring on back. That way indeksing and rubing will be less an issue.
Hi , does anyone know if Elite is gonna continue production of Suito (year 2020)? Because i've found out that most of our retailers are saying 'out of stock' or unavailable , its strange
Great review. Could the better ERG mode response in the Suito be available in the Diretto 2 (which I own) through a future firmware update? Thanks again.
Hi thank you for the video. I’m not a cyclist and I am clueless on the technicalities of equipment. But I always enjoyed indoor cycling at the gym and now I would like to make a home gym/zwift set up. I’m looking at this smart trainer to go along with a budget second hand bike I will get of ebay. However I am clueless as regards what gear system I should be looking for and I didn’t quite understand the adapters you referred to as regards the gear cog. Could you please give advice on what gear system I can look for whilst looking on eBay? Bearing in mind I’m a complete novice at this. Thanks very much. Steve
DC Rainmaker, Excellent review, thanks!!! I am planning to buy my 1st indoor trainer, between Tacx Flux S vs Elite Suito, which one do you recommend overall? I have read your reviews, but, since I have not seen/felt physically the trainer, the decision is difficult.
Thanks to this video I've decided to buy a unit like this. But now a friend is selling his Tacx Neo voor 500 euro? With technologie I always beliver that you need a newer version. So still, I think it's better to by this Elite Suite instead of his 2 year ol Neo. Am I right?
There is a spindown procedure within the Elite MyETraining app which should be done every now and then. I find once out of the box (after 10-30mins) is good enough. No virtual tyre slip on this unit.
Are these available in the states? On the elite website it has Todson Inc as the only US distributor but they don't list the Suito. The Direto II is sold out.
Yup, you can pre-order them now, with the first containers expected to arrive late August in the US, and then hit retailers around the first week of September in the US. Clever Training has them available for pre-order (which is who I partner with), and you can get 10% off and free US shipping with code DCR10BTF (and it helps support the channel): dcra.in/2Ta0IMi - Enjoy!
This Elite Suito's price in Germany seems to be 624€ now, not bad bargain at all. Just wondering how much this Suito eat from the market their own product Elite Direto's sales. Those two products specs are not so far away from each other.
someone here has the issue that the trainer produces a rubberish smell during a workout? you don't notice it on the trainer but when you enter the room shortly after a session it's quite noticeably.
I ride mountain bikes, don’t own a road bike, would this work for me with say an 11 speed sram gx derailleur? What about rear axle compatibility? ... Also having never used zwift, does it include any off-road tracks?
This i dont know. But cyclops fluid is great. I just play a youtube video of some biking in pov. They have a trainer that has interactive program and is very good and durable. Works with mtb.
Hey DC. Love your videos and wondered if you might help me since I can't find any answers anywhere else. Just got the Suito and it's been working great with Zwift. Also in some interval sessions, it gave me way less that it should. Any idea why that could be? I use trainerroad and use the and also have my assioma duos connected. Edit: I also have PowerMatch enabled, maybe that is the issue?
Would you guys recommend this as a first trainer?
How to recognize a smart trainer what is good for my bike btw riverside 500 ?
Has elite improved the power accuracy?
Hi I am choosing between this and the tacx flux s 949 aud and this at 1099 aud with cassette, i am wondering does the extra hill incline 10% vs 15% make a different? which one would you recommend at the price point mention above ? thank you
Would I need to have a Power Meter to use Zwift
Has it still the erg mode problem?!
Looking into getting that trainer but not sure if Elite finally fixed the issue... what is your experience?
I just got the elite suito and the chin of my road bike is too thick. What do I do?
Desperately need some direction in which way to go. The Suito or the kicker core? Price wise its £60-£70 difference by the time you take into consideration cassette etc.
KIKR Core. Just a more robust trainer and better road feel, also, silent.
@@Dcrainmaker thank you for your reply. I'll go with that! Loving the videos. These videos seems to be my new pass time 😂
Just got my Suito for 599€ from Fahrrad XXL in Dresden.
Hi there, If anyone can help, one of the legs will not close, does anyone have any advise please.
Is it good time to point out that usually you lube the chain, no need for casette lube.🤔😉
I sucsest that all soundlevel testing should done single ring on back. That way indeksing and rubing will be less an issue.
Thanks great review, it looks a good fit for me although I want to buy a new bike so might wait and make sure it fits then.
Hi , does anyone know if Elite is gonna continue production of Suito (year 2020)? Because i've found out that most of our retailers are saying 'out of stock' or unavailable , its strange
Almost all trainers are out of stock these days. Totally normal.
Steve
The best fit would be a road bike with quick release axle and shimano 105 11 speed cassette.
What did you choose? I’m between those 2, and Kickr Core, which is 200€ more expensive with an cassette included.
Thanks to this video I've decided to buy a unit like this. But now a friend is selling his Tacx Neo voor 500 euro? With technologie I always beliver that you need a newer version. So still, I think it's better to by this Elite Suite instead of his 2 year ol Neo. Am I right?
Hi will it work on mtb 12x142
Does this trainer need to be calibrated? Also does it have virtual wheel slip like the Neo trainers?
There is a spindown procedure within the Elite MyETraining app which should be done every now and then. I find once out of the box (after 10-30mins) is good enough. No virtual tyre slip on this unit.
Do you know if the Suito Elite will work with a Campy 12 spd system?
Nope only a 9/10/11 speed campagnolo adaptor
It's bad form to add $50 to the bill if you have campagnolo.
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks DCR. Got mine pre-ordered.
So better than the Directo but cheaper ?
Potentially. We’ll have to see how final accuracy plays out.
But got on today and in my lowest gear, the resistance was if I was climbing about a 15% grade. But gradient showed 0 and I was showing about 10 watts of power. I'm new to direct drive trainers and have no clue what to even try to fix this. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
It was in ERG mode... go watch GP Lama's video ERG Mode explained: th-cam.com/video/LbeliW8uObk/w-d-xo.html
How is the stability of the unit in a sprint? Great video!
No issues at all, very stable.
Elite direto x or suito?
This looks really promising!
But it's not
@@GrzegorzMichalek my dad bought it, set up the bike normally and theres always really strong resistance, you cant pedal backwards or move them without the chain comming off and the cassette is very loose, the product imo is very bad and my dads pissed about it since he dropped $1000 hoping to start biking again but with the poor customer support Elite has, i dont think they will even mention the problem, not to mention changing gears or tightening it doesnt do anything but make it worse, im going to try and convince him to send it back and maybe find a better trainer for him
Can the supplied cassette bu used on Sram?
sure, why not? its 11-speed 105
When is Elite going to come out with the new Drivo firmware that they have been promising for over a year. Follow on support is lacking.
Can anyone help mere here, so i have a 10 gear cassette, if i buy this one. Does it then fit as it is or do i have to buy something besides that? :)
@DC Rainmaker which one would you choose - the Elite Suito or the Wahoo Kickr Core?
KICKR CORE. It's silent (Suito isn't), and has more realistic road-feel inertia. But, also costs about $150 more ($100 more for the unit, plus another $50 for a cassette you'll need to buy).
@@Dcrainmaker thank you very much :)
What about 8 speed hg31
Where exactly do you out the oil?
On the chain, which will then transfer it to the cassette.
I'm curious... I've only managed to connect the trainer to my mac laptop via bluetooth a couple of times and even when it did work it was so buggy. With an ANT dongle connected to the laptop, it connects immediately. Any thoughts?
Dodgy drivers for the Bluetooth device inside the macbook?
