In simple terms a bing bang does not give rise to thinking beings just evolving things.

thank you Moreland for avoiding the question. I still don't know what consciousness is. you just gave me a widely accepted characteristic of consciousness. waste of time *sigh*

I don’t believe that you listened to Moreland. Or, you are just unwilling to accept his view of the source of consciousness. It’s a worldview thing.

consciousness is immaterial and spiritual - can you provide evidence for this please? instead of just asserting claims. also please explain how immaterial substances interact with the physical world. Saying that you don't have to explain the mind body problem because you postulate a larger mind outside the physical world makes you a deterrent to the advancement of knowledge and is why nobody takes you seriously in academia

There is a video called 'Evidence for the Existence of Soul - JP Moreland, PhD' in which he provides evidence for the immateriality of our soul, and what that encompasses. He is not postulating a larger mind because he can't explain the mind body problem. Rather, he sees mind as non-identical to body (or 'brain'), and therefore thinks there is good reason to think there is an immaterial aspect to our being. This, he believes, is inexplicable on a purely materialist account of reality, but not on a theistic one.

His bold opening assertions are not based on empirical evidence and his conclusion is just wishful thinking and utter nonsense. I'm shocked at the level of ignorance and religious arrogance on display.
