I'm impressed. I'd hire you any day. I completely understand that accidents happen. It's in the nature of the work. But the ability to recover is what's important. I made the mistake of being gracious and offering some guys a second chance. They stuck a JD 230 only 20' from where they stuck it before. Neither time could they work themselves out, and both times had to call in a second excavator to dig them out. Sunk over the tracks each time. I was not happy! Keep up the good work man. Apparently good operators are hard to find!
People are criticizing this guy but he actually handled this like a real pro. Most men would have not been able to get out of that situation but this guy stayed calm and knew just what to do. Now, on the other side of the coin, I have to say I'm sorry to see him messing up that creek like that. It pains me to see that. But still, the guy did nothing wrong, it couldn't he helped since the bank collapsed and a very shallow sinkhole formed which caused the ground to become swamp-like in a matter of minutes.
Well said! A true operator showcased here. He remains calm, and gets himself out of a sticky scenario. Shit happens, you can sit and bitch.. or stay focused and think out of the box and help yourself out instead. I had some hairy moments myself in when i was younger sliding a hitachi 225 down a mud slope, narrowly missing a newly constructed set of condos. Learned the hard way that excavators tracks can act like skies in mud lol. Cheers
Bullshit, the man cant even spell common sense. He was to busy tring to make a simple job look like a big save the day to the inexperienced viewers. And if he would pick up the planking properly the first time, but lets pretend that we got to talk about it and then the planking can be removed. lol
For those saying this isn't a sinkhole you are wrong. What has happened here is that the ground collapsed about a foot to two feet and the water and silt shifted so as to create a huge pit of very wet mud in a matter of a minute or less. Likely there was the creek and then underneath that there was also underground water which ruptured and tried to go up through the soil when the weight of the backhoe was put on it. Scary stuff.
Darn, people go and watch this video and no machine is destroyed, nobody is killed or even hurt.... of course people get disappointed ;-) Apart from that, this was a cool video. Nice to have the drivers view of what is happening, with the commentary. And I can imagine it was an uneasy feeling at least to have the counterweight digging further into the mud...
Me too! I remember the first video I watched of Chris using those mats to gain access to a couple beaver dams. Close to 3 years ago? Man time flies! ~ Lot's of ponds been built, dredged, trees knocked down in various ways, the mud projects, the testing equipment & the bonfires! Bet I seen darn near all his vid's!
It's funny seeing the people saying this is boring or a lying title. It's a video about a guy in an excavator getting stuck and then getting himself out. If you don't like videos with excavators then why are you watching?
Hi, And thanks for the upload, it seems pretty new to me. I really enjoy the way you show how to get out of these various pickles. Take care. mrbluenun
I'm glad you were able to get of that hole Chris. I had visions of you disappearing into the mud. Your skill and determination are a credit to you. Take care friend.
Chris where is Tim? Haven’t seen him lately. Did he quite? I watch every episode in the evening here in Texas. I like the new 160 especially with your deign for your bucket. Keep up the good work you do a great job.
Your right Glen thats all he was doing. There are some of us that have actually spent twenty some years working in the muskeg. That always did separate the men from the boys.
You are a good operator and I would bet that you have no problem getting work. Keep it up, people with your skills are not as common as they should be.
That's the video. The skill and nerves it takes to take something that heavy in to mud and water, with only a few mats, is amasing to me. I probably seen them all too. Some two or three time, if not more.
Many thanks for the upload. This is where it helps to have the added 'Insurance' of floats? And what a good idea those 'mats' are. Take care. mrbluenun
thanks for all the videos man. I like all your stuff! I operate for a living myself I own a Hitachi ex 160 and a couple other pieces of equipment.. what mats do you use in the mud? and what's the best way for not tracking up the road when I unload the ho on pavement?? thanks man! good work and keep the uploads coming!!
He's lucky he was in a pretty quick working machine, a tad slower at turning and it would not have been fast enough to get out. Props to whatever machine he was in, it shows there's more to it than just brute force. :)
Nice work Chris. So many so-called 'operators' would have just yarded full on those mats and pulled that hoe right down. Nice so see someone who knows how to hoist 'em out the right way.
wow man, just wow. u are fucking talented. it must take a lot of skill to get out of that! that is amazing that u were able to get out without being swallowed up.
Bet that felt like way more than 7:45 at the time! Top notch operating! I think you should try lifting your boards ver tickle before you try and pull them out the mud, that way you're not asking her to break the suction as well as lift the board, but never the less i can tell you really know how to control her and it's nice to see you caring so much about your machine. Great video mate 👍🏻
well handled... my only question is why didn't you go straight for the high ground once you had the mats under the tracks again? I have a few theories as to why but can't pin one down
I'm not an operator, only thing I've operated is a '93 Volvo 35(more to the numbers, I cant remember) articulated dump truck.. But why didnt he use his mats and go up the hill on to what looked like solid ground, instead of moving further down the spongy bed
I know nothing about operating an excavator but I've seen video and pictures of them drowned and stuck in mud, so to me it looks like he knew exactly what he was doing and how to get out of it.
haha you aint kidding. everybody always tells me how much fun mudding is but its a bitch to get unstuck with big equipment. I never thought it was much fun digging out a stuck combine or tractor.
Found myself in a situation like that some years ago in a EX 200. Too that old girls credit it never gave up on me and pulled and heaved and turned it's tracks till I dragged it out. I now have a 220DL and I'm most impressed! Like that old EX200 they don't give up! Over the years I have had a couple of different machines give up on me and there is nothing worse, you are in the shit and for the sake of just a bit more power you would get out easy, but no they lay down and die on you and you gotta do it the hard way. The last machine to do that was a PC200-8 believe it or not. I absolutely expected more from a Komatsu. Frankly the Volvo eats it in every category.
Never mind Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy Krugger. There's nearly a million people with their hearts in their mouths feeling like they are sinking into that hole with Chris, and on the edge of their seats praying he gets every one of us out of that hole! We are depending on you Chris. Save our sorry hides!!!
I didn't see any sinkhole! Well, I guess you could call it that, but that isn't what I expected. I was thinking of one of those Florida jobs, where the whole corner drugstore fell 50 feet.
Well, you know what they say, "Stay Calm, And Stay In The Machine." And in your situation, "Only Use Rental Equipment"and "Bring Scuba Gear." LOL Seriously though, nice recovery.
I'm impressed. I'd hire you any day. I completely understand that accidents happen. It's in the nature of the work. But the ability to recover is what's important. Very good operator, stayed calm and got out of a potentially very dangerous situation. He saved himself and a very expensive, nice piece of machinery.
People are criticizing this guy but he actually handled this like a real pro. Most men would have not been able to get out of that situation but this guy stayed calm and knew just what to do. Spanky sss
It's nice to know my brother isn't alone, he talks to his equipment, too!
Dude! You rock! A lesser man would have panicked and lost the machine. You are king of equipment operators.
Love finding these old videos 👍

Can't panic, take your time and think your way through it---good job!

~
Lot's of ponds been built, dredged, trees knocked down in various ways, the mud projects, the testing equipment & the bonfires!
Bet I seen darn near all his vid's!
in fact I stopped and washed the whole machine when i was done lol
I know feck all about driving one of those machines but I sure do recognise craftmanship when I see it, and this is it.

Hi,
And thanks for the upload, it seems pretty new to me. I really enjoy the way you show how to get out of these various pickles.

Great video man! You are an amazing operator because that looked like a mess to get out of!
Cool recovery man. My hands were breaking out in a sweat just watching.
My hands were sweating, too. Oh wait, wrong video. Sorry :/
ikillbugs lol. Good one. I liked watching you demoing the yuk. It didn't make my hands sweat nearly as much ;)
TimoKa Thanks... and I'm relieved to hear that. :)
Good recovery. I hate that feeling when I am pulling up my pads from the muck and my pads holding my excavator are being pushed down.
Nicely saved. In the old days, this is where something broke a hose, or threw a track, and that was it ! Things are much better now.
NOW THAT'S HOW THAT SHIT IS DONE! I would love to see anyone handle that better! He slayed that mud like a boss!
Best line "son of a bitch" 😂 1:24
Man I am loving your videos. Just a hard working good ole boy. And funny as hell too.
You've gotten yourself a new subscriber. Stay safe out there man, bad things can & will happen.
great job...im taking heavy equipment training now...i enjoy watching you work it out..smooth job
Cool hand luke !!
All the new operators think excavators are super tanks that cant get stuck.
It's so cool you post the good videos of you and then the real good videos like this one. Nice!
what model of volvo is that and what are those slabs you are pulling up with he thumb?
Never underestimate the power of wet dirt.
So what was the idea? Looked to me like you were just playing in the mud.
His Excavator was stuck in the mud so the point of the video was to show fellow excavator drivers how to get out of a situation like that.
Your right Glen thats all he was doing. There are some of us that have actually spent twenty some years working in the muskeg. That always did separate the men from the boys.
Man! You are good with that thing!
Wow! Chris! I never heard you swear like that. Grin. Nice job extracting yourself from a scary situation.
Many thanks for the upload. This is where it helps to have the added 'Insurance' of floats? And what a good idea those 'mats' are.

Very cool,, Agreed with the rest, outstanding operating!

Nice work Chris. So many so-called 'operators' would have just yarded full on those mats and pulled that hoe right down. Nice so see someone who knows how to hoist 'em out the right way.
Nice work getting out!
Nice operating for sure. I notice you do a fair amount of pond and canal work, do you just not do enough to justify getting a long reach?
wow man, just wow. u are fucking talented. it must take a lot of skill to get out of that! that is amazing that u were able to get out without being swallowed up.
Bet that felt like way more than 7:45 at the time! Top notch operating! well handled... my only question is why didn't you go straight for the high ground once you had the mats under the tracks again? I have a few theories as to why but can't pin one down
Great video! hell of an operator!
can you do it again? ! !
cause we didn't understand what are you doing...
Great to see an expert at work.
What do you clean your equipment with? Pressure washer?
I was rooting for you. Cool video, thanks for the share.
"we're in a little bit of a pickle here" ,,,🤣
That was impressive, what are the mats made out of? Cross ties?
Learning alot from you!
Pretty cool. If it was me operating your machine...I would be going to the bank to get a loan to buy you another one.
What model volvo is that?
Great video. Pay no mind to the negitve shit talkers.
I'm not an operator, only thing I've operated is a '93 Volvo 35(more to the numbers, I cant remember) articulated dump truck..

same here. i do forget what brought me here. but whatever it was, im glad it did
How come you weren't using a ditching/mud bucket? I'm curious
You kept your boots clean so good job.
Did you take a video of what it looked like with all the mud on the outside?????
Damn, what a mess. What are those pads made out of?
This is surprisingly entertaining
Impressed by your handling of the excavator in a tricky and dangerous situation.
Looking good 👍
Nice bit of work, but (as an onlooker) wouldn't it be better/easier to clear that pond with a wide bucket?
Fine work indeed getting outta that hole!
nice job getting out there bud
what are matts
Dang nice cat loader any idea how may yard's that bucket is 2 dippers and had a full truck
Nice job.
Any day you don't need to call for help is a good day.
cool man in fact the beaver dam video was the first video i ever watched of chris's
I know nothing about operating an excavator but I've seen video and pictures of them drowned and stuck in mud, so to me it looks like he knew exactly what he was doing and how to get out of it.
did you finish the job??
what a bunch of rude trolls! Great job man!
Well done driver very hard not panic and make it worse. Really good operator.
Video was too short!
Where is this at?
Chris just as long as you went home with clean boots, I say it was a good day.
haha you aint kidding. everybody always tells me how much fun mudding is but its a bitch to get unstuck with big equipment. I never thought it was much fun digging out a stuck combine or tractor.
short? its almost 8 minutes long. thank for watching tho!
Good video ,anybody can put up a vid of a easy day , but it takes balls to so
I got my old 12 tonne Poclain 60 stuck in mud several years ago, and it's still there. I'll dig it out with my JCB 801 if possible, one of these days.
GOOD JOB driver :)
Great video is it Easy to use the mud mats that use wider trackers on the machine when a use it in swamps we use wider tracks than standard with track
I saw y'all had hogs in another video , where are yall based out of ?
Long night of track cleaning???
Found myself in a situation like that some years ago in a EX 200. Too that old girls credit it never gave up on me and pulled and heaved and turned it's tracks till I dragged it out. Just wanna give kudos on taking your time and getting the mud off and not pulling on them and sinking more.
Never mind Nightmare on Elm Street and Freddy Krugger. We are depending on you Chris. Save our sorry hides!!!
Somebody better call 911
very interesting video for someone who has never been inside one of these things
Oh Chris always getting stuck in holes........ no fun intended!!!!!
was that the 140 or the 210
I didn't see any sinkhole! Well, I guess you could call it that, but that isn't what I expected. I was thinking of one of those Florida jobs, where the whole corner drugstore fell 50 feet.

Very funny!
Great job was very well made :)
Im 40 year old and would love to learn how to operate heavy machinery like this, cant find any schools though
Cool camera view
Looks like a real powerful machine..loads of power on the swing?
