    First Norns
    September 6, 2018
    This is my first try at using Norns with mlr. I played OP-1 into it and created four loops that I then animated using the pattern record function. I play directly with the speed mod parameter of REC 4 (the sustained note) to pitch it up and down and waver it a bit.

      iFaber thanks. Believe it or not, it’s actually looping. If I had let it go long enough you might start to sense the cycles.

      Lightbath do you are @Rheya know where I can grab this combo (Norn and Grid) in the LA area?? Id really like to start learning one over at our studio and see how this can be applied to ambisonics and spatial audio dsp.

      Maybe check the Lines forum? But really I think they're currently available from the source at Monome.org

    Please make a tutorial about the Monome devices and how to integrate them within a modular setup 🙏 They always look mysterious and would love to know how they actually work 🌺

    Any plans to release more of your stuff for download/cd/whatever format? All Creatures Festival is all that's available right now as far as I can tell. Is that right? I'd love to be listening to your stuff as I go about my day!

      zebextredon thanks for asking. In fact, yes. I’m working on a double cassette right now and also have a very special Patreon-only archive coming very soon. Sign up to my email list for first dibs on all the goods. Until then, the only other download of my stuff is the Loom series through Patreon.

    Beautiful track. Have you heard of the Deluge, and do you think it's a good sequencer for producing this kind of music?

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t checked it out much, but I’m keen to say no since what I’m doing here is looping audio and then sequencing pitch changes. It seems like the Deluge is not for sampling, but for traditional note sequencing. Anybody?

    • @NorfolkTraveller
      @NorfolkTraveller 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lightbath thank you, it does sample but may not be able to do what you are doing.

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it can record a loop and re-pitch it via button presses, and those presses can be recorded as gestures in their own loops, then yes it can :)

    So what are your thoughts M'man? do you like Norns? it seems like a great travel combo with op1 or z and grid.

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally digging it, but currently I have an unstable FW on it that makes mlr crash every 10 minutes or so. Once I update to a stable FW, I think I'll really really dig it. Total battery-powered setup with an OP.

    • @Blackeyedangel
      @Blackeyedangel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome man! I'm waiting for them to come back in stock and I think I'll pull the trigger. I love the OP1 so much that I think this will be a great travel set up. Cheers man!

    Please someone build a norns that is just a step sequencer .... I need this so much, but not for the price with all those functionalities :D
    Nice glitching btw!

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      VictorSteiner yeah, with the cost of manufacturing, I’d suspect that’s a job for one of the big corporations. I feel that norns’ strength is, firstly, the monome ecosystem, and secondly, the open nature of the platform with user/developer/community contributions.

      cos all I've seen so far is a glorified looper and some weird sequencers (that said I still want 3)
