I started making music with the MV so any time I’ve tried other machines like MPCs, at first I am always like where is everything at? Does this have a view of the whole song? Where are the audio tracks?
Thanks for the vid. Great to learn some of the history behind the gear I have. It is very easy to put tunes together on the MV-1 quickly. It’s just so straightforward.
There's a lot going messed up in your explanation. First the 8 audio tracks are not recorded on hard disk. It is recorded into RAM. So it's phrase sampling with the ability to time stretch. The pattern track "white bar" isn't an audio track or phrase. It is representing the whole pattern sequencer inside the linear mode. There is also an audio track (the nineth hidden audio track of the MV) in the pattern mode. But it is primarily a sequencer in a sequencer - besides the best thing on the MV. So you can program your drums in the pattern mode and play repetitive drum bars via pattern track in the linear sequencer without needing to copy them and you can quickly do changes to your drum groove back in the pattern mode. Midi data is easily changeable between pattern and linear mode. Samples are exchangeable from audio phrases to instruments (multisamples). This sequencer is so powerful and still so clear and easy. It is and will be the best hardware sequencer ever. Nothing comes close to this.
The King MV-8000...Akai MPC-X got all of its concepts from this machine except for the sequencer and linear arranger Roland was 21 years ahead of the game and Akai Took over the game like MJ & KB but they still need to add some things from Roland MV-8000 still 💰
