His is probably relatively cheap.. It doesnt look like a high trafficked area and it is a small, older space. But laundromats in big cities in crowded areas can costs BIG money to rent monthly or buy and can also bring in big money as well.
@@idonotconsent Define money maker long term. 1 dollar a year profit is a moneymaker longterm. He hasn't had a plumbing break or a big money washer break on him. Here's a hint. I'm glad this guy is just being himself and not letting anyone bring him down and guess what? Hes making quite a decent profit each collection day so yeah screw the haters
If I was you, I would separate income from each machine especially vending vs washing/drying to calculate the return of each item. I think throwing all the coins in a single bucket is not an effective way to learn the idiosyncrasies of a business. If your new machines were pulling double the revenue of the old machines, that is valuable information that change may your strategy. Perhaps being a bit more data driven could benefit your business.
I have seen plastic gizmos that sort coins and count them for rolling. It would probably be worth using the counter, writing the result on a form and dumping the coins in a bucket. IT does not have to be 100% accurate at this point.
maxbass that’s not how it works, if you go to a laundromat with $5 dollars worth of clothes to do, you’re gonna spend $5 total. Some washing machines do use less water though, so they make a larger profit. The most important factor of making money though is having a market or making a market.
i’m a super paranoid person i suggest locking the doors when you go in to count so no one can rob you you’d be surprised how many people really strategize their robberies they’ll watch you come in and calculate or estimate the hour you come in to count and take advantage i just say this because i’d hate for you to take a down fall from criminals and you definitely had put in the work for this place
It was satisfying for me to watch too. I was also thinking about how this might be more efficient if customers paid with credit card, although that would be less satisfying to watch. Acutally, it might be best to have the machines accept cash, change, and credit card. Or, add an ATM machine so that the customers can withdrawal $20 or so to spend in your laundry mat.
Keep up the good work and keep up with the videos. I’m pretty sure the people who use the laundromat appreciate you being there a lot more than the naysayers who tell you to quit. You enjoy what you do and you’re honest which is becoming a rare commodity nowadays. Keep on truckin’!
@JMFS dude, this is how the world works. If he wasnt charging this much money he wouldn't make a profit. Poor people can buy a washer and dryer on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for cheap. This is capitalism my guy
Hey man I feel you at the end. I had a few people tell me I'd fail when I started my micro growery. It took nearly a year for me to build up a stable client base but I proved to them that I'm dedicated to the quality of my crops. My side hustle doesn't fully match my normal job yet but I'm getting better every week. The people who tell you you're gonna fail are jealous. You're actually doing something to improve your life and most people are afraid to commit to something like you did. I was scared myself when I started my business. I always thought I'd fail until I didn't. Good luck!
@JMFS It's a high capacity dryer, most I've seen can dry three loads at once, which actually saves people$3.50. (The regular one load dryers were charging $2.50)
@JMFS you buy s shop ,, but washing machines and dyers the coin operated ones will be a thousand bucks each ,pay water ,electricity ,repairs ,tax and see how much you can do it for ?

@@twan14_ Profit is after all costs are factored in, Revenue is just income generated. So if revenue is less than costs, you operate at a loss. But if Revenue exceeds costs then there is a profit.

I'm interested to see if you made a profit at the end of the month. I ran some numbers on my end with a bit of guessing on what your other costs will look like. I think, before accounting for your start up costs, you're going to have made a profit of $1000-$1500 for the month. Some of this will need to go toward your paying off how much you bought the business for and purchasing new machines (start up costs). Overall, I think you'll make a profit, but it won't be livable wages. I think you'll need to have a few laundromats for livable wages. For the little time that you spend overseeing your laundromat, I'd say your single laundromat is an excellent way to let the business make money for you (even it's not a ton of money).
i had this idea as well, though he did not state the actual cost of running his laundromat. Operational cost was not factored in during the (4?) days of use. Thats what I am interested in.
Cameran Manner if you watched the entire video, at the end he said he would be releasing a new video going over revenue vs. expenses and stuff like that!

I love this guy he is living out the American dream of just taking risks, making investments, just getting out there and making some dough. Keep it up we love seeing this stuff!
Well, the thing about a laundromat is that it's a shit ton of money up close. People are stupid - yeah, you won't make a profit at first. But eventually, it pays for the initial costs, provided you keep customers coming. So after that, the only fees required are for maintenance of the building and the washers/dryers/vending machines, and the utilities. And that's definitely profit time, once you've gotten past the initial costs and have customers coming still. Washers and dryers don't get replaced often - you can usually just repair them if they're commercial ones. Honestly, a laundromat is a good thing to invest in, provided you're in the right area. People need to wash their clothes, and not everyone has the money or the ability to have their own washer and dryer. A laundromat next to a college campus, for example, would do great. Or near an apartment complex where, say, not all the apartments have washer/dryer hookups. Usually, those places don't have very big laundromats, maybe four of each, and that can be a pain in the ass trying to snatch it before someone else does. Some ways to help reduce costs for you, that I'd consider - light bulbs. Things like LED lights, or RGB ones, are great at saving money. For RGB lights, they're more expensive up front than others, but they're better than fluorescent lights at saving money. You can also change the color to a warmer, more comfortable tone, and a lot of people tend to enjoy that. The RGB lights can also be set up to sort of go off and on whenever someone walks in, if you've got the equipment - keeping some on all the time, but leaving others to only come on when someone is inside of the building, will also save some money. Not sure if you've got them already, but something else nice to consider is ironing boards and clothes irons - they probably can't make you money themselves, but it's a good way to keep people coming, because again, some people don't have those, and if you do, they'll come to your laundromat to iron their stuff, which helps increase potential customers. Likewise, someone else mentioned it, but look into vending machines that can serve hot drinks, like coffee - they do great with colder temperatures, and would probably make decent money even outside of that.
Lol interesting take. I would say those in-op machines would actually drive him into further debt if it's persistent. Yeah he can continue but I'm sure he won't make his money back til 10 years later cuz of the interest that was built up in that time frame. Unless he doesn't own and he only rents.
@@samwarner1612 I think it is more of a point when tide pods are supposed to go into a laundry machine, and he stated that it was a newer nicer model. A hammer can of course destroy an expensive painting but it wasnt meant to be used on the painting.
I managed 3 coin laundry locations, as a word of caution: parts are really expensive, you need to know how to fix the machine yourself (mechanics are $50.00 per hour), you need to do daily clean up, you need to pay rent on the space (this is the killer), if you move into a new space the investment to install water lines and sewage drains can be $100,000 + depending on the number of machines, gas and electric and water bills are another killer, notice he had double locks on the machines because someone with a crow bar can clean you out in 5 minutes then buying the new lock coin hoppers can be expensive (more than they stole), your dollar changer needs constant upgrades because of the government issuing new bills and designs, then of course, insurance for the premises and liability. I wish you luck in your investment, it was great in the past, but I lost my shirt recently and sold or closed all 3 locations..
I know it's a small part of the business, but parts don't have to be expensive with research. Places like Johnstone Supply have much of the parts. Search appliance repair, commercial. (Grainger is expensive)
Honestly I have to wonder, with modern technology would it be a good idea for laundromats these days to switch to a Mixed cashless system like what most vending machines these days have? Less and less people are carrying cash and more people are switching to cards.
@@bigdog2084 He'll def need o lean and do his own repairs to make it. No license needed, just start a secondary sub business for maintenance. That will satisfy the parts houses. Most repair techs are barely over min wage, otj learners (see Sears).
Everything you have said if correct, except one thing. My hourly rate is 85 an hour, and I'm cheap. If you have a wrench who works for 50 and he's good, you're a lucky person!
the quarters are the money maker because the more quarters he puts in there, the more money can be put in there in exchange for the quarters. So if he makes 1,000 dollars in quarters from his machines he can put them in the coin exchange and get 1,000 dollars cash for. He then takes the 1000 dollars in cash out as profit and hopefully the machines made another 1000 dollars in quarters so he can get another 1000 dollars in cash out and keep repeating. Basically the quarters are the profit but he does not touch it until it is turned into cash in the coin exchange and by then he's already made more profit in quarters to turn into more cash.
This isn't a bank his just counted his coins it didn't give him dollar bills in exstange for quarters and if you ment the coin pusher that does make money most of the time because a lot of times you put a coin in and didn't get coins back :edit okay everybody i typed this on an old ipod and it has a small screen i clicked the wrong comment thats why it is so wrong i am srry

How does one go about fixing these machines? This has always been a question of mine.

Ironing would probably be a huge liability due to them setting fires, cords tripping people, etc. But mostly fires since usually no attendants
Lol interesting take. I would say those in-op machines would actually drive him into further debt if it's persistent. Yeah he can continue but I'm sure he won't make his money back til 10 years later cuz of the interest that was built up in that time frame. Unless he doesn't own and he only rents.
the location is bad, very bad. does he even have Security??

@@heatheryllanes6925 sounds like you forgot to run it through the dryer after you washed it
I managed 3 coin laundry locations, as a word of caution: parts are really expensive, you need to know how to fix the machine yourself (mechanics are $50.00 per hour), you need to do daily clean up, you need to pay rent on the space (this is the killer), if you move into a new space the investment to install water lines and sewage drains can be $100,000 + depending on the number of machines, gas and electric and water bills are another killer, notice he had double locks on the machines because someone with a crow bar can clean you out in 5 minutes then buying the new lock coin hoppers can be expensive (more than they stole), your dollar changer needs constant upgrades because of the government issuing new bills and designs, then of course, insurance for the premises and liability.
@@stevebat2072 True, but everybody who goes to a laundromat knows that your either need cash or quarters when you go.
Watching that coin counter was pretty satisfying.
Isn’t the change machine not a money maker because it’s literally exchanging money for the same amount
the quarters are the money maker because the more quarters he puts in there, the more money can be put in there in exchange for the quarters.
BIGMONEY MEDIA thank you for explaining 🥰
