I understand, but I have tried that route before. I found the interface to be more cumbersome when driving and also this has a dashcam. I wish Apple would allow a carplay mode directly on the phone but sadly they don't. I also used to find that my iPhone got very hot using it this way as it was wireless charging with the screen on and gps active. I don't think it was good for the health of my phone. I also find the dashboard view very useful as it can have my music and maps displayed on one screen. Plus, factor into account that this has an FM transmitter, it can also be a way to get audio from your phone over to any car regardless of its connectivity. Of course, this is just my personal preference though. If your phone works well for you, then that's great.
Size looks very unique but dang, calling that screen "extremely responsive" at 1:19 is a stretch, if not an outright lie. Swiping looks like a slideshow as your own video at that timestamp shows.

The sound is not coming out of my head unit or the device itself. It goes to my phone when I use android auto.
Where on the windscreen do you put yours? Is it legal to stick it behind the wheel as a HUD?

I don't personally get the appeal. Just use your phone. No chance of someone breaking in for this as your phone will be with you.
