    First, Tessa the Aurora you made looks beautiful on you, so flattering and the fit is perfect! Thank you for all this valuable information on scuba. I have a piece waiting to be made into a Metra Blazer. I will certainly check out the scuba from Surge.

    I made a Metra Blazer in a scuba suede. It sewed up beautifully and feels lovely in wear. I love the new Aurora pattern

    Beautiful design! Aurora is on my wish list.
    I use Fusi- knit ( or 5/8" fusible stretch interfacing ) on my knit seams and hems. It eliminates the waves and adds stability to the hem.

    This pattern is so lovely! I have several cuts of Scuba and didn’t know what to make with it. Now I do! 😊. Thank you for your very informative videos, I can’t wait to make this pattern. 💐

      You’re welcome 😊 I hope you have a great time with your next project - can't wait to see those cuts of scuba all sewn up! For some reason, scuba seems to hang around in my stash longer than most other fabrics - but it's so enjoyable to sew!

    Always love your content. The addition of the lavelier mic is a great addition. Sound quality on TH-cam videos is so important. Keep up the great work.

    I’ve wondered about scuba fabric, thinking it’s the same as the waterproof scuba diving fabric. Never knew the difference

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      haha, that's a common misconception! I was confused when I first learned about the difference, too. Apparel scuba is much more comfortable to sew and wear than neoprene, that's for sure! ☺️ ~J

    Adding Modal or Viscose to polyester and lycra has created the most beautiful scuba fabrics. I ordered some with the viscose content last year from London and I agree it is amazing! It allows the fabric to drape and feel much better and it also makes it slightly more breathable. I just wish it would come in some subtle patterns as well as the solid colors. The Aurora is calling my name and it was nice to see the designer behind the scenes of LN! p.s., I have several of your patterns in my stash. Thank you! 😉🌷

      Awesome! I agree about the blends - such a nice way to combine the best of both worlds

    Modal is slightly less impactful than viscose or rayon. But I do wish it would stop being pushed as eco. The issue isn't with the source material, in this case beech trees, but with how much processing it needs and the chemicals used. yes it is better than viscose, which is better than cotton but please do your research!

    If you're from Canada, do not shop at Surge Fabric Shop. They use UPS for shipping and you end up paying high duties and admin charges -- not worth it!

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the US the shipping is very reasonable - hopefully you have lots of other CA options that work for you. Shipping is rough nowadays, for sure!

    • @surgefabricshop
      @surgefabricshop 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We offer several different shipping options CA. UPS is actually no longer an option we offer due to the duty fees and surcharges they surprise customers with. But we do offer USPS and DHL options which can be selected under “shipping method” on the checkout page. Unfortunately, shipping rates to Canada have seen a significant increase over the years making it cost prohibitively for many.

    Do you have to pay attention to biases when cutting scuba material?

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For knit binding, you cut with the stretch, which is generally across the grain. So you do need to pay attention to the stretch, but pattern pieces generally include the direction to cut each piece. As long as you follow that, you're golden! ~J

    A lot of the scuba available in my country had stretch on the width but poor to no vertical stretch. Looking at the fabric requirements for Aurora there is no percentage width or horizontal stretch given. What would you say you need? Do you need good 4 way stretch and if so how much. I love the look of this gorgeous dress but really want to make sure I buy an appropriate fabric with the right stretch.

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The pattern only requires horizontal stretch! So you should be in luck! And keep in mind that you can make it in lots of different types of fabric - not just scuba. I'm just super into it with scuba because its such a great marriage of pattern and fabric. :)

      @@LoveNotionsThanks for answering. I’m not surprised if you can get scuba with modal/poly mix. I have not found any of that yet online where I live but lots of Ponte with it. It looks lovely on you.

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Modal is highly chemically saturated, love the way it feels, but wouldn't want it next to my skin.

    Looks like double knit polyester from ,my childhood in the 70’s yuck !🤮 It does have a nice drape. Is it hot in warm climates?

    • @LoveNotions
      @LoveNotions  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think this is why I love the fabric that Surge sourced - it's got lots of the good qualities but is much more breathable and drapey! It feels amazing!
