I've been watching a lot of videos on these, and the biggest question I've had is about skating on flat surfaces. Thank you. This was the most in-depth video I've seen on the Next Edge
@@CMK-Security I have the 2 wheel ones, and whish I had gotten the 3 wheel ones. With just two pressure points a dip in an off-road surface, or a soft-spot, is felt a lot easier, and gliding through it becomes impossible. With the extended length of the 3 wheels, going faster is easier too. As of now, I only use my 2 wheel skates with the roadrunner wheels because they are basically worthless as off-road skates.
Very good video and info on the skates. Years ago when I tried a challenging downhill with Coyotes in their unaltered form, I hit a pothole like you and took a header with no time to react. This was part of what led me to explore larger wheel setups. It does help to have your front wheel more out from your foot in order to increase reaction time, especially on downhills. The back wheel can stay a bit closer to act as your pivot point for turning.
Would they work on the sand on a beach, like a bicycle, or would they sink like regular skates? Also, would they be suitable for skating with pulling dogs on forest trails and such?
I have the oldest version of offroad skates, the coyotes. They work great with dogs pulling on forest trail. Too rough a trail would be difficult. Sand or mud is impossible.
Sand? Really? Bikes cant drive threw the sand. ATV's hardly can. Shit, just walking in the sand is hard. Dog and forest trail on the other hand...good idea and good times.
@@denononohardcore2 Do you want me to take a picture for you next time I go to the beach? I find bicycle tracks all the time. We're not talking about quicksand here, just a regular beach lol
Hey, I am considering 3*125 or 3*150. My surface is rough Concrete Roads/ Asphalt mostly with gravel here and there. What would you recommend? How slow is it going to be? I have heard mixed opinions about this, Some people say that It is slower But for a normal cruising it is good......I am ready to put in some effort but I still want some stable speed :) I do not want super high speeds anyways, I like Cruising speeds.

For asphalt, I choose to remove the middle wheel and use ski poles from my Next Renegade (SUV) 3x125. Perhaps 2x150 would be better. Generally, I think no roller skates are suitable for off-road. You need to use a bike for off-roud. Off-road skating is hard and uninteresting and requires a mountain. All these beautiful videos create the illusion.
Hey, nice video! I would like to Ask about speed and endurance on asphalt/bike road/city its not problem ride 20km distance on this wheel? Speed 12-15kmph?
I think I'm going to have to go back and make a video on this subject... That way I can get into full detail about what the differences between a two tire and a 3 tire off road skate on the smooth surface/asphalt/concrete...
Thanks for the review! Have a pair with 3 (125) wheels. was wondering about these. 2 less wheels means potentially 2 less headaches. Pneumatic tires are a pain for skates. glad they worked out
Hey, I am also considering buying 3*125 SUV, Would you recommend them? Are they really super slow and super heavy? I am looking to buy them for really bad roads and concrete.
There are also 200mm wheels available -- on rollerskis, not on skates per se. They roll better on grass. But still it's not smooth, i.e. not like mountain biking. Poles are useful, since one can double-pole.
Typically an SUV skate is heavier than your average pair of inline skates with urethane wheels..these are made for off road so they do best in the grass and bike trails/dirt...they should be lighter compared to an off road skate that has three wheels... anything lighter would be Powerslide Doop Swift Edge off road skates.... here is a link to that th-cam.com/video/NxifPT8QhCY/w-d-xo.html
Looks like a lot of fun, but... It would be MUCH more practical to have a "Xsjado" style set up so you can take them off easy and just hike back up the hill. From what I understand these are downhill skates only, so being able to strap your regular shoe in would make taking them off and hiking back up the hill a much better product. Anyways, thanks for the review~
Maybe I missed it in the video buy which of the skates do you prefer. You have the 3 wheel version and the 2 wheel. and I know asphalt sucks, but is it impossible? can you maintain any amount of speed on asphalt. I don't mind the effort.
I prefer three wheels when it comes to concrete and asphalt but two wheels are just fine as long as you are willing to put up the effort. You can in fact roll at a good constant speed with two wheels as long as you keep the tires aired up to 100 PSI. I prefer two wheels in the grass because you do not even feel the difference between three wheels and two wheels. The reason why I prefer it is because the wheels are bigger because there are only two which makes the frame shorter so I can run and stride and keep my speed going without clipping. The only downfall to two wheels in the grass are potholes. The first wheel that goes in... You're done for. If you had three wheels in the grass you just might run over the pothole.
Hello, I also have the 2x150 and I'm not to happy, I'm leaning towards 3x125 since I think 3x150 is too heavy and and long ... could you help me out with your opinion since you tried then all. Cheers, Lukas
@@lukasf5256 Ohhh... Since the surface on a pump track I assume it might be a little hard... With two tire baring all your weight might create alot of drag which might slow you down...So yes!!! I do recommend 3×125 for all those quick turns and the solid surface of a pump track...That size is good for that...P.S. make sure to max out your P.S.I. on the side of your tire as well...😉
Thanks for your in-depth videos. I am considering to get a pair of off-road Next skates and I need to choose between the 2x150mm Edge and the 3x125mm. I will use them for dirt + some gravel roads in the Latvian countryside (my usual holiday destination). It's mainly flat but with some hills. Since I would use sticks to workout my arms the 2x150 could be the best option. My other concern is that I hope the Next boots are not too tight on the ankles, so I will try them on first...What do you think? Cheers! :)
The one thing that I noticed with these off-road skates compared to other SUV skates is that they have waxed laces...If you are not careful you can put them on and have a harder time taking them off because the waxed laces do not loosen up right away...
@@jamesbond6687 Alright. I usually make 3 moderately tight knots instead of a super tight one to avoid that + it probably holds longer. Anyway I would not tight hard boots too much so that my ankles don't hurt after long sessions. BTW, I'm reconsidering the 3x125 mm option because they seem more agile...

Best of the pack - lighter than 3 wheels and they have heaps of natural rocker, unlike the 2 wheeled, which are always flat. You also end up on your ass well before reaching any dangerous speeds. And they are the true original xD
