Nice video....i am retired and have lived in Medellin/Envigado near La Frontera for the last 2 years originally from New York City. You are right about everything you say. i stayed longer than a year so i got a Colombia ID card called a Cedulla as most vendors like to see an i.d. when you use a credit card. Even the gyms are cheaper...hope to see you around.
I am a retired pensioner who has lived in Medellin long enough to give you my “two cents”. I think your estimated costs are about right. I spend more on food, but I like to eat out and I am willing to spend more. I allow $300 for entertainment, but even with my higher costs, I only spend a little more than $1000 a month. I live in southern Envigado, so my housing costs are cheaper (AirBNB) than in Laureles. But considering even my higher costs, this city is a wonderful bargain.
That's a lot of money/moth You can easily live with 500us even less and not necessarily the hoods, just need to look cheaper neighborhoods like some parts of belen, bello, even envigado or la Estella Hope u guys find this helpful Regards
Great information. Thanks. You can find unfurnished 3 bedroom 2 bath in Estrada 4 neighborhoods. Getting $5 hr not bad. You get to be around locals enter act. That $400 to $500 is for part time work. Not full time. It will pay for an apartment in Belén Sabaneta etc.
Thanks for the upload brother. Question, how do you make your money, the $1000/mo.? What is your job? From what you said earlier, the English teaching job won't do it. I'm genuinely interested, thank you again bro.
I from Colombia and this brother is correct. In Colombia the food is SUPER CHEAP. Colombians love Americans people. Thanks for your stay in my country my brother.
You mentioned cleaning lady @ $200 a month ? Am I right ? How often she comes ? Also your apartment in Laureles, is that a furnished one? Thanks, I’m just getting some insight for future retirement reference.
Adrian Manzano-Where in Colombia were you? Did you have your own apartment? Were you eating 3 meals a day? Did you have internet and also health insurance? Did you have a social life? Did you work while there? Last question: do they have chemtrails in Colombia?

@@PassportDog theres most definitely a 100 % smog issue in Medellin which usually takes place a few times a year....they have a law in place where certain cars can only be on the road on certain days depending on their vin #. and also schools shut down when the air quality becomes too unhealthy... you should know your facts before you speak on things, especially being a "youtuber" . dont mislead the people, please.

Hey kenny can you make a video on teaching English? I was wondering where can we find a job teaching English,is it either at a university or independent teaching centers? Would you recommend having a telf certificate or bachelors degree?
As a tourist or foreign person, if you want the absolute luxury, more english speakers, and don't mind paying extra, El Poblado is the default. Only issue is things tend to be pricey in general cause they know people there are spending dollars and not pesos. The smarter choice, specially if you speak spanish, want to be smarter about budgets, and want the added benefit of being closer to everything, is Laureles. Still a upper class area, but more geared towards residents instead of visitors, and in a much more central location then El Poblado. There's still other great choices if you want to be less run of the mill and have more options, like many areas of Envigado are upper class and safe, and thats the next neighborhood just south of El Poblado.
there are of course, that is always a latent problem. Be simple and don't fight if they try to rob you. Pickpocket yes, but not everybody everywhere, sometimes
As long as you stay out of the low income areas higher up on the hills looking like a tourist (Los Barrios Populares), and out of the downtown area, theres very little worry about safety. The reason the downtown area which they actually refer to as the center (El Centro) you need to be careful at night, is that it becomes very desolate after the end of the business day. As long as you're alert you should have no problems at all.
@@chrisbetancur453 Chris Betancur well, actually places like laureles AND poblado are the most dangerous areas cause ppl from the "barrios populares" go there to rob them.. so take care at nights specially in Laureles

Great great video my brother 🤙🏿💪🏿👍🏿👍🏿 thank you
you can live with half of that easily
Can you explain?
Yes but you’ll be in the hood
if he's talking about the $650 then yes, for half you will be a ghetto OR some area pretty far from downtown but cheaper and safer.
Yes in the hood estrato 2 or 3 where if you accidentally flash your cell phone you will have a gun jammed down your throat within 5 minutes.
