    Really good tutorial. Some things that alot of people forget to cover that you hit are fork height, use as little gas a possible (for some reason all these tutorials immediately teach a high rpm clutch dump for newer riders), and brake feathering versus pressing.

    I don’t think ppl know this but the brim on those helmets will break your neck in an impact. It’ll catch anything on the ground and twist your neck. They used to use these helmets in racing decades ago until they changed the helmets cause so many riders were dying. I’m amazed these are even available.

    I learned to wheelie over 50 years ago and it's still fun . After you get your confidence up you can shift through the gears and wheelie as far and long as you want . Always remember , the back break is your best friend , the harder you press it the faster the front will come back down . Even if you almost loop out . Practice slowly and you learn safely . Pick a spot where you want to lift off and pick a spot to bring it back down . It's like the gentleman said , Throttle control and the rear brake . 2-Strokes are the same thing you just have to make your adjustments faster because of the power hits quickly . 😊

    Such a solid straight forward video! Best tips I can add is take it easy and wear gear. Try 1st and 2nd and keep it slow. Yes, 1st gear snaps up fast. But it also engine brakes fast. If you pop up too high and close the throttle, you’re front end is coming down. Want to use the rear brake to come down. But in 2nd and especially 3rd, when you’re high up and close the throttle, it takes longer to come down and you need be on that brake.
    Basically think of the clutch as how you set your wheelie height. And the throttle as something to raise the front wheel. Closing the throttle will lower the front. So will the rear brake. Clutch to balance point or near it, then steady throttle and brake as you need it.
    I’ve been in a habit of using throttle to control it. It just doesn’t work well. Clutch up and throttle to get your wheel up and at balance, brake when you need to lower it or save yourself from looping.

    • @ko9etv
      @ko9etv  ปีที่แล้ว

      Only reason I don’t recommend clutch is bc most people learning wouldn’t know how much gas to give so when they drop the clutch it comes up toooo fast , but if you’re experienced yes you can use clutch, any questions lmk, thanks for watching 🖤

    • @EarthSurferUSA
      @EarthSurferUSA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ko9etv I guess 4-stroeks can get more speed out of 1st gear. But I know on a 2-stroke MX bike 1st gear can be harder because the speed is slow, and the bike can fall from side to side easier. I never mastered a wheelie, but I bet when you are up and sustaining speed as smoothly as you can, you find yourself working the gas, clutch and brake all at the same time. Not full on at the same time, but their functions overlapping each other.

    • @ko9etv
      @ko9etv  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s the same for 2 stroke , easier to coast and catch balance point on 2stroke because of no engine brake, but 4stroke is just safer having the engine brake

I never been on nothing bigger than a yz250 before and getting on this thing scares me, no 🧢. Im not afraid to admit it but im 6'2 260 i dont want to get no smaller than a 450 size but i want a 230 or maybe even a 150 or 170 big wheel to get my bearings back, or u think i should jus say fuk it and bos up n learn the bike i already have? Decent tutorial bro, I like the fork thing I never heard that. That being said clutching wheelies up is the way and should be taught from jump. Clutching is safer, more predictable, and way more effective.

    • @ko9etv
      @ko9etv  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks for watching. I feel like for a beginner clutch is more dangerous, because they typically don’t know the bikes power, so all those rpm’s when you release the clutch will scare them Vs gradually pulling the bike up twisting the throttle lightly and not whisky throttling

    • @Naptownstreetsquid
      @Naptownstreetsquid ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ko9etv I'm not gonna say you are definitely wrong, but here is the issue. Bikes have power bands. So as you know the bike gets very light towards balance point. When a beginner suddenly hits the power band while simultaneously suddenly entering that balance point they loop out very easy. 450 single cylinder is less prone to this but a 2 stroke or sport bike is especially dangerous. When you develop clutch properly you will pop the front end to correct height everytime or very close and need very little throttle correction. I actually over clutch and catch with brake so I can make super tiny throttle adjustments then I'm cruising. I consider it a big mistake if I have to use a lot of throttle

    • @ko9etv
      @ko9etv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes , more so for 2strokes with the power band, but I feel like clutch comes more in play for more control and slowing down or turning during the wheelie, the best wheeliers you see on internet barely use clutch when first picking their bike up, they use them if in about 3-4gear if they’re already moving at a higher speed, we do use our clutch a lot for slower things, slowing down,turns,circles,dropping back , your not wrong everyone has their preferences but most people just pull the bike up smoother

    • @justforfunvideohobby
      @justforfunvideohobby ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Naptownstreetsquid I’m glad u commented that cuz I got a 2 stroke and thought it was way too crazy to be doing at full speed. Gonna opt for slow type wheelies with the clutch thing from front brake disengage

    • @nigelsenchez
      @nigelsenchez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justforfunvideohobby Slow wheelies will teach you alot. Way safer than full speed. Tap the front break or rear to slow down. When the forks compress and while rebounding pop the clutch and little bit of throttle same time. pull back. Easy fun practice on grass.
