Bro a more efficient use of space would be to push the couch closer to the wall and move the dining table under the window... It would look much nicer and your plant (if real) would love you for it... You were recommended by TH-cam 😊
@@reginayfavors The "space" for two bedrooms in Dallas is not the same for the "space" for two bedrooms in NYC. You never lived in a city with more than 8 mil population, do you?
I never comment, but great voice great video. I'm not even moving to NYC but I stumbled on this and thought I'd leave a like. That broker's fee is an absolute scam tho lol
Nice video and thanks for the transparency! I love that it's becoming a little more normalized to talk about money and numbers. I feel like it's super helpful especially because it can help motivate so many people. I'm currently a CS student and come from a small town hoping to break into tech after college and watching videos like this and how fellow techies live their lives pushes me to want to do the same. Thank you!
I have followed you on Instagram for a long time, but have never heard you speak. You have a great personality and speaking voice! Nice to put a voice with the face. Your apartment is nice and not outrageous rent for NYC. I can do everything I love about NYC, shopping, performing arts, restaurants, etc., in a week and then I'm ready to come home. But I'm glad you are happy there.
Very informative video. You are the first person who has explained about a broker’s fee where I understand it. I’m a senior citizen and never moving to New York, but love to watch the videos. I subscribed and wish you continued success.😮😂
I love the space. For me tho, I would lose the dining room table & push the sofa up against the wall to create more space. Also put in some plants (fake) and more pics on the walls. Great NYC apartment!!
you say you got a good deal on your rent, but whether that is true or not depends on where you're located. you could be next a train stop living in jamaica queens. not asking for an address but a neighborhood would be super helpful.
broker fee is normal in NYC. Almost everybody has to pay it. The real question is the location.. $2075 is a good deal for a place near the train and not too far from the city
Thank you for sharing that information. Everybody needs to know that you have to pay a fee. It’s horrible that you have to do that. You’re looking for apartment. You’re not trying to pay any extra money sometimes you don’t have that extra money to pay, but thank you anyway.
Nice! I really like you space, we in this family love the challenge of small living spaces, like what you’ve done to your apartment … what is the sq footage? Keep up the good work, Enjoy “the big apple.”❤
Love the apartment. Why don't you move the sofa far back against the wall and the dining table adjacent to the window? The apartment will be more spacious if you do that. Your color palette is good. Just make that small change and you will see. 😊
I guess you want to look out of the window when you're on your couch. It would look more spacious if the couch was against the wall instead of the table. Living in NYC I suppose you spend a lot of time outside. Don't be afraid of mixing colors with your gray.
I moved to NY from NC a year ago to study acting. The crappy part is that you must meet the x40 monthly rent for your salary. And choosing to live in or closer to the city is even worse: you pay more for less. I choose south Brooklyn, my commute into the city is a little longer but I got more for my money: $1900 a month and it’s quieter, no tourists. It’s absolutely not worth paying extra for parking.
Did you move from Durham? I heard gentrification has occurred in my native Durham, North Carolina and the rents are sky high. I've been living in New York City since 1973. I lived with a great aunt in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. I later moved to the upper Westside in Manhattan in 1979. I have been living in the same large 2 bedroom rent control building with a fire place for 45 years. 😁I will be here until God calls me on to glory and they take my remains to Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, New York.
Hey Dev, NYC should be ashamed of itself for how they chop up apartments and try to convince people this is normal. My good friend just got apartment yesterday after a fire from his neighbor on mother's day this year. He's literally starting from scratch but if you think your apartment is tight his is literally a kitchen and bathroom..smh. oh we're in Brooklyn and it seems Bk is trying to be like Manhattan when it comes to space and rent.. Congratulations to you and enjoy your space
Broker's fees are criminal. Years ago the landlord used to pay the broker's fee because by law, if you go to a broker to help you find an apartment then yes, you should pay them but if an apartment is being advertised then the landlord should pay that fee. There was a court case in 2020 and the law changed but it's being challenged. It is a scam since the broker does nothing but stand there after you looked for the apartment.
I thought that the high cost of living in New York is partially offset by lower transportation costs. Why do you own a car instead of renting one as needed for out of town travel? Something you left out: your car payment and auto insurance. I appreciate knowing about the cost of living in NYC. For the life of me, why New York? Of course, there are a million things to do but if you live there do you enjoy the same amenities that are so abundant? How often do you go to the opera? Or to see shows in a Broadway theatre? Or go to a jazz club? New York is the fashion capital of the nation. You have one or two tiny closets. I live alone in a 930 square foot home and I have a basement with a chest freezer, a washer and dryer and a bath with a shower instead of a tub. I also have a two car garage. I’m going to subscribe just so I can see what’s what. I can’t wait until you re-decorate like something I read about in Architectural Digest.
Omg you must love New York to pay $2,000 for that tiny apartment. That’s more than my mortgage and I have a 4 bedroom 2 in a half bath house with a double car garage in Texas
I have a four bedroom condo in San Antonio for 1700.00 with a garage…and downtown 😂 let’s not tell people because if they keep coming down here the price will go up😂😂😂

A Murphy bed would really come in handy in this space.
$250 for parking is good! In my building, it's $500.However, I do have a rent-stabilized apartment.
I like the setup before dining table. Im livining in a studio, my liking with studios came from traveling & staying at hotels.

Get rid of those shelves. I couldn’t handle that. Install things on the walls in better locations. Donate the couch. What neighborhood is this?
When you sell your sofa will you move your dining area in the hall and put your shelves in your dining area? This is nice. Good Luck.
Although the shelves may look better against that wall, but the dining table & chairs may take up too much space in the hall.....Nice apt. tour
