This may be my last review for a while, but seeing how well my Lucifer Valentine reaction went, and Halloween just around the corner, I thought I’d react and review the “August Underground” trilogy.

I think the reason the driving scene is there to enhance the reality of it. It’s just pure torture on a video camera and then an abrupt cut to their own ‘normal’ lives, just hanging out and acting like psychopaths. It’s weirder when you realize that whoever passes them has absolutely no idea what’s happening in their basement except for people they kill and torture. It just gives it much more realism to the movie and shit.

Awh I love Penance 🖤 it’s my fav out of the three actually. The Christmas scene is so brutal. The end scene is so horrific too. Gonna have to rewatch these sometime, it’s been a couple years.
Also wanted to say, although the self harm in these movies is jarring, at least it was all consensual (as far as I’m aware). Fred also seems like a normal guy who just likes horror movies. I follow him on instagram and he’s very wholesome lol. And if we compare that to Lucifer valentine and the shooting of his films, it’s a muuuuuch safer environment.
Also KILLER practical effects in this movie. The VHS camcorder really sells the gore too.

Its those 2 scenes in a serbian film that are disturbing they rival most other films but the first half nothing happens and the second half all the other disturbing scenes arent that bad its just the certain new type of porn and the end twist which are beyond disturbing

There is a difference between gory, depraved, and disturbing though. August Underground and LV are try-hard depravity and in parts, disturbing. A Serbian Film is depraved. Martyrs is disturbing on an intellectual and spiritual level.

These were pretty good movies, especially the last one. The XMas scene was one of the meanest I’ve ever seen.
