    I have a 1776-1976 Eisenhower dollar, when I turn it over, the bell is upside down and the moon is behind it. It's also heavier than a normal one.

    My sons got a big bag of coins from their great grandma… they were just about to dump it in one of those coin counters at the grocery store. I told them to find all the pre 1965 coins which contain silver. With some complaining and an hour later, the equivalent to 4oz of pure silver was found!!! You can tell just by the sound they make, and looking at them after a while! I helped out sorting as well, and I have to admit, it was kind of fun!

    Hello I just had a quick question. I was going through my dollar coins today. And I noticed on my Eisenhower ones that 1 of them is different than the other 2, it has the copper stripe on the side on the opposite end, so basically the copper stripe on my other coins is close to the obverse side but the copper stripe on this one coin is closer to the Reverse side. They are all the 1776-1976. Is that normal? I could find anything to explain it

    Would be interested in knowing the value of 1921 and 1922 Liberty dollars

    • @HistoricMetals
      @HistoricMetals ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depends on condition and mint mark, but in general, peace dollars are common enough and should sell for no less than $30-40 each for a worn out slick at current market rates, upwards into the hundreds for slabbed and graded uncirculated or very high quality examples. Best way is to search eBay sold listings for a very close approximation, but pay attention to the date of the sale. 6 month old prices will not reflect 6 minute ago market spots on which these things are based with many dealers using automation to keep their pricing current for silver or gold items.
      also, 1921 and 1922 would be more commonly called "peace dollars" with 1921 being the first year and considered a more valuable "key date" but the 22s are pretty common. "Liberty's" usually refers to the seated liberty coins which are most commonly seen as half dollars.
      The value of any of these Peace dollars is usually around whatever the equivalent amount of silver is. So, with Peace dollars having a little less than one ounce of silver in them, if the value of silver is $40 an ounce, your Peace dollar has a value of around $30 to $35. Its value increases, however, if it’s in an uncirculated grade. Uncirculated Peace dollars can have values of $40 to 50 or more.
      The scarcest dates are the:
      1921 Peace dollar
      1928 Peace dollar
      1934-S Peace dollar
      The most expensive of these is the 1928 Peace dollar. Easily worth $400 and up in lightly worn grades, this is considered the key date for this series. The 1921 has a higher relief than the other dates (except for some extremely rare 1922 Peace dollars which also have a high relief). Really good condition unslabbed, ungraded 1921 Peace dollars are sometimes worth around $100 and up. Meanwhile, 1934-S Peace dollars only have a value of around $45 to $50 and up.
      Peace dollars of any other date have a value of around $30-40 and up. As noted above, check ebay comp sold current listings for up to date typical market values and try to match the photos of the available sold coins to yours to get some idea of price versus condition.

    Since you asked, I would like the same analysis on American constitutional silver, other than liberty dimes of course. While we're on this topic, I was obsessed with cleaning war nickels and ended up buying a bench polishing wheel. I tried all the chemical methods without success. The only thing I did not try was a rock tumbler. I couldn't find anyone on yt that had tried war nickels specifically. People got beautiful results with clad coins found with a metal detector. Anyway, the polished nickels are unbelievably beautiful, but too much work. I then did some liberty dimes and Roosevelt silver quarters. Obviously, the quarters were the easiest and the only ones I will do in the future. The dimes are beautiful, but again, too much work per dime. I now refer to the polished 90% silver coins as polished constitutional silver and the unpolished as junk silver. I would love to have an LCS do an experiment with two displays next to each other. One labeled 'polished constitutional silver' and the other 'junk silver.' I would have them price the polished at $4 more premium per dollar face and see which sells faster. My money is on the polished as it is strikingly beautiful. Maybe I'm delusional and I completely wasted my time, energy, and money polishing it.

    Hi... a follow up to a comment I made last year (to which you made a response video)... about the Digital Yuan potentially going gold-backed. Last year, you were critical/skeptical of my comment/thought process as you mentioned that China didn't have nearly enough gold to go gold-backed. Respectfully, I disagree. China has far more gold than they've publicly acknowledged, and have been hoarding it. Just look at the gold exports... and where they're leaving and where they're going. Of course, more information about this might be revealed at next months BRICS summit in South Africa. Russia, too, has been hoarding... and they have 11 time zones of land in which to continue to mine. My assumption is that the BRICS digital currency-- largely on the backs of China, will go gold-backed, and the dollar will crash. Slowly at first, then a rapid decline.
    Therefore, although I wouldn't trust the Chinese government to saye my life, I continue to believe that buying Chinese Yuan (the paper kind, not the digital kind) is a good investment-- as a store or preservation of wealth. Think about it... if what you suggest is half-right (that China doesn't own enough gold to back its currency), the only way for it to work hypothetically is for each, individual Yuan to immediately be worth much more than it currently is. So if someone is holding paper Yuan (which is tradeable and exchangeable and not trackable), then a 100 Yuan note (not backed by gold) will suddenly be worth much more when it becomes backed by gold. So, for example, let's say it takes 300 Yuan to buy a new toaster at current market exchange rates. If the Yuan goes gold backed, the cost of that same toaster (to those holding Yuan-- either digital or paper), will be much lower, like 20 Yuan. Or... put another way, if I take a $20 bill and put it under my mattress, in 8 years it will certainly be worth less. Yet my gut is telling me that if I put a Chinese paper Yuan under that same mattress mattress, it will be actually be worth more in 8 years.
    And if you hate the idea of being tracked by China, just buy the paper kind... as the value will be the exact same and it'll be fully exchangeable.
    And btw, the other gold-backed cryptos you mentioned in your old video are the most obscure cryptos. Compare that to China... which has the world's largest economy, keeps growing, owns the world's largest reserve of gold, with a population over a billion.
    To boil it down, I think a wise investment in the short term would be to buy paper Yuan where you can. Another reason I think my theory is correct is that China actually makes it hard for people to get paper Yuan. And the reason I think they're doing this is so that when the Yuan jumps in value when gold-backed gets announced, every Chinese citizen holding Yuan will immediately be a millionaire-- so to speak. And the opposite, of course, will happen back at home when the US dollar collapses in the wake of gold-backed Yuan/BRICS crypto.
    Not intending to be contentious here, I really enjoy your videos and thoughts.

    • @baldguymoney5568
      @baldguymoney5568  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I remember you well. Welcome back and thanks for your comment. Let's please draw a distinction between the Yuan (currently trading at a 10-year low vs. the USD) and what China has planned with their gold-backed currency (which will be exclusively for the settlement of international trade).
      I will start by giving you a point for China's resolve in stacking gold. They have been buying gold in large amounts for the purpose of backing up a currency with it. I don't disagree with this point.
      How much gold China has is pure speculation - neither of us can be proven correct or incorrect unless a proper audit is done. Until that time, the only numbers we have to go on are their official numbers - according to which China has 1/4 the amount of gold that the United States does. We can argue this until we're both blue in the face, but neither of us can verify what the truth is. My position is that the official numbers are close to correct and that it is not enough to significantly impact the dollar with a fractional backing on its own. I stand by that. The fact that the US government has given ample reason to countries to walk away from the dollar - a topic I've covered in past videos predating the Russian issue - is another story entirely. Here, I assume we would agree that a challenge to the dollar is coming.
      How that all relates to the paper Yuan which is crumbling along with the Chinese economy - do as you wish. If we're to fairly judge your position of purchasing paper Yuan from the moment you made your first comment (2 years ago) to today - it has objectively lost 10% of it Forex value vs. the US Dollar. That doesn't even include inflation! I get that not every financial move is going to yield gains - there will be losers with the winners. That said, this one was a loser and the data proves that 100% (kind of like my Ali Baba call which I am still holding and bought more of on the way down - I am honest about my own misses too)!
      I appreciate you coming back after all this time and leaving a nice challenge. This is a place for discussion and I wish you a great day!

    • @TheFujiwuji
      @TheFujiwuji ปีที่แล้ว

      @@baldguymoney5568 All good points, and thank you for responding. I have no problem with the Yuan having lost it's value by 10% because my hunch is that China is playing the long game. In Art of War, Sun Szu explains that when you're weak, pretend to be strong, and when you're strong pretend to be weak. So they're pretending to be weak-- like they're this feeble, dopey, impoverished nation, while contemporaneously amassing enormous amounts of gold. And I don't think it's just to play Tiddly Winks. If I had to take a wild guess, I think China has north of 50,000 tons of gold, maybe more. Yes, you're right, we can debate til we're blue in the fact about Chinese gold holdings because of auditing, but every indicator to me shows that they are massively underreporting. And this would make sense, they don't want to world to clue in on what they're doing until it's too late for anybody to compete with them. I think most Westerners-- for very good reason, are suspicious of Chinese leadership and their goals, trustworthiness, etc.
      Having said that, China appears to be methodically building something to demolish the dollar... and it's actually in their best interest-- BEFORE gold-backed currency gets announced to have a weak Yuan, so that nobody else but Chinese will want to hold it. Just as you are poo-poo-ing it. Yet it looks like something like 40 countries are interested in a BRICS currency. Just like gold itself, the Schiff-haters can easily point to the fact that gold's just been hanging around 1900 forever, going nowhere, while stocks and everything else has gone up around it. However, when SHTF geopolitically, and the storm clouds continue to grow, gold will take a dramatic and fast move.. like a hockey stick graph, not a slow, snailish trudging upwards. So if Yuan is gold-backed, and gold does skyrocket, just imagine how wealthy Chinese people will become overnight. Their purchasing power will become off the charts.
      My two cents ;)
