This would have been a good video if you didn't skip over the most important fact... Tottenham was never a part of what is considered London until after Arsenal moved north of the river. Arsenal has always been a London club and moved north of the river in 1913 to Highbury from Manor ground, spurs became one in 1965 after joining the London borough of Haringey. Spurs had no "territory" in London because they were never a part of London untin 1965
Technically, back then it was the county of "Middlesex" and the county of "London". Both counties were abolished to join the county of "Greater London". Arsenal were based in the county of "London", which wasn't ever the same as the "City of London" and like I said before, also no longer exists. The areas we call "North London" and "South London" were only informally coined when "Greater London" became a thing. That means that before 1965, neither team was part of "North London" and were in two different counties that no longer exist but were in the same area. This is the reason you don't hear older generations make the "Middlesex" argument, because they lived through this. Presumably the reason this argument wasn't included in this video is because it's invalid and the makers did more research than your typical 15-year-old Arsenal supporter on Twitter.
Spurs aren't from North London either. When they were formed in 1882, Tottenham was part of the county of Middlesex, not the metropolitan County of London. Tottenham didn't become part of London until 1965, by which time arsenal had been long settled in Highbury.

Neither club were in London at the time of their founding but Tottenham's ground is closer to Bow Bells than Royal Arsenal. So make of that what you will.
@@gabriellas4281 The county of Middlesex disappeared, mostly into Greater London, with odd bits going into other surrounding counties. The name Middlesex lives on as a postal district and the name of a county cricket club. So Tottenham only became part of London in 1965, on the (rather appropriate) date of April 1st. What this means of course is that they’ve never won the League as a London club, and Arsenal were the first London club to do the Double! And also the second and third. To emphasise that last point, here’s the Wikipedia page for the Municipal Borough of Tottenham that features a map titled “Tottenham within Middlesex in 1961”. I’ve added this as at least one Spurs fan in the comments below seemed to think that when Tottenham became a borough in the 1890s it stopped being part of Middlesex. No such luck for him, as the status of Tottenham could not get it out of Middlesex and into the capital with Arsenal for another 70 years..research done from wiki
Tottenham are from Middlesex, so they’re not really a North London club either. Another thing; Tottenham put in a bid for the London Stadium in Stratford, losing to West Ham, so they could quite easily be an East London side of things had have gone their way. They need to get down off their high horse. #NLIR
How can they complain about Arsenal moving to.north London when they were in middlesex until 1965 . So up until 1965 we were the only north London club , Oh the irony .
If your looking for a comparison to Campbell going to arsenal I think the closest you could say was as if Raul went to Barcelona from Real Madrid as he was home grown or say iker cassias another home grown, the older fans will remember them players, cassias was only like 18 or round that age when he broke into the full team which for a keeper is really amazing because it can take years for keepers to reach their full potential as its probably the hardest and such a important role only teams with the best keepers go on to have long success.
Here’s a great stat for all you Spurs fans. This season is Tottenham’s best ever start to a season… They’re 8 points behind Arsenal having played a game more. London is Red you muppets 😂
Tottenham - successful season is playing better than arsenal Arsenal- successful season is by lifting silverware Arsenal keeps doing it over and over again while Spurs hope and try to just stay above arsenal in the standings and how they can qualify to another round of a tournament

5:41 In the 1914-15 second division season. Arsenal finished 5th NOT 6th. They were promoted alongside Derby County (Champs) and Preston North End (2nd)
The first North London derby was in 1965 when the GLC was formed. Prior to that Tottenham was in Middlesex. This means Arsenal are the original North London club, and the only North London club to be English Champions, as Spurs' only titles were when they were in Middlesex. Interesting Tottenham Hotspur Baseball Club have been national champions as many times as the football club.

Tottenham didn't become part of London until 1963 when it became part of the greater London Borough of haringey. Until this time Tottenham was NOT a London club. Arsenal however have always been a London club!!!
Tottenham was a suburb of London when Spurs were formed. Tottenham dates back over a thousand years and was mentioned in the Domesday Book. It's an actual place with a population of 130,000. This is what separates it from Arsenal. There's no such place as Arsenal. It's a factory club. It's currently located in North London, but, like gypsies, sooner or later they'll move somewhere else. We all hope they return one day to Woolwich.
@@robertpeters6996Although its true, Woolwich and the munitions factory that the workers that formed the team came from was part of Kent then (but was incorperated Into London in 1889) the teams home ground was actually Plumstead common in SE18., the Manor ground and the invictus ground in london
@@spurs7151 You are wrong...it was in the county of middlesex. It was a town its own county with its own council and wasnt incorperated Into London and haringay until greater London was formed in 65. Tottenham was a local government district in north east Middlesex from 1850 to 1965. So Arsenal have been a part of North-London much longer than Tottenham
and arsenal was formed in woolwich which was in kent until 1889, where it merged with london to from the county of london, thus making them a london club, however when they moved to highbury they were no longer a london club as they were also part of middlesex, therefore making the BOTH north london clubs at the SAME time in 1965

#NLIR

ONE NIL TO THE ARSENAL 😍❤️
great and informative video as always

Tottenham - successful season is playing better than arsenal
Arsenal- successful season is by lifting silverware
Arsenal keeps doing it over and over again while Spurs hope and try to just stay above arsenal in the standings and how they can qualify to another round of a tournament
Adrian, I eventually want to see a Black Country Derby video. Let's see if West Brom gets back in premier next season (as Wolves are definitely staying up). I guess put that in the back of your head until then.
Merely a play off match to be Villas main rival !!
@@johnsaunders2109 West Brom will always be our main rivals. But the Baggies and Birmingham City are making sure we will just have to settle on a West Midlands Derby.

Woolwich was the home of the Royal Artillery depot as well.
Spuds never played home games in North London until 1965, when Tottenham became part of London after always being in Middlesex.
Finally! And smooth timing too. Well played!
One thing I dislike about my club is how we got into the first division in the first place
Yes they bribed their way in when it was very corrupt.

You seem to be missing the fact that when sours were founded white Hart Lane wasn't part of London it was actually middlesex. Tottenham didn't become part of London until 1963 when it became part of the greater London Borough of haringey. Until this time Tottenham was NOT a London club. Arsenal however have always been a London club!!!
Actually they used to play in Kent
Tottenham may have been a suburb of London for the workers but it was a town in the county of Middlesex, hence why they are known as the middlesex wanderers and have never won the league as a London club, or in colour, or in yours or my lifetime 😉
Arsenal moved into the area of highbury. Arsenal is not a place. The tube station Gillespie Rd was renamed Arsenal in honour of the great Chapman sdes success but Arsenal is not a place so get your facts right and stop being spursy
@@spurs7151 Arsenal will never leave highbury, it is our home and has been or Iver 100 years. We are and always will be the dominant club in North London and the only north London club to have won the league.

Not that I care much about the North London derby but watching this was time very well spent!
